Not posted much on this but been following the debate. Just heard interview with the Guide Leader at the centre of the GG issues (Helen I think) and announcement that they will be debating the whole trans issue after 9am with Nicky Campbell.

  • Nicky Campbell, not Clark

Webberley isn't suspended, AFAIK. She has conditions, which I believe means she can still work but has to be closely supervised.

That there is "basically no difference" between a clitoris and a penis apart from how far it extends from the body > smaller to larger

I can't speak for DWS but I stand ready to cede all national, international, global, universal, star system, galactic, and intergalactic rights to you for a contraceptive device that fits on the clitoris that functions like a penis.

Because, it's not as if there isn't a shed-load of ignorance around contraception understanding when it comes to young people.

"It will never happen the first time. Especially if you're standing-up. And you're wearing a condom on the clitoris..."

heresyandwitchcraft · 24/09/2018 11:09

But they really shouldn't be putting her on the media like this as an "unbiased expert," quite frankly. Someone working in the NHS like from GIDS or Charing Cross would be far preferable.
If they insist on Helen, then they should be putting in at least one question regarding her credibility - because it was her conduct in this specific subject (trans) that got her investigated.

Link to thread with site for resources for children giving some very, um, interesting ideas about bodies and sex

"It will never happen the first time."

Ah but this was always what poeple said to each other, not what the "experts" said, including ones educating children.

The FACT that the clitoris and penis are basically the same except for size, and everyone lies somewhere in teh middle (ie most human beings have a 2.5 inch penis?) is on the website of a group that has been set up specifcally to aducate children on sex and is sponsored by DUREX lololol I mean you couldn't make it up!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 24/09/2018 11:15

Anyway back to topic, have linked the other thread if anyone feels like being both boggled and gobsmacked (and also worried about why people with political ideas to push and made up assertions about biology that are not true, are being given the support including funding to "educate" the nations children!).

Juells · 24/09/2018 11:15

My laugh-out-loud moment for the day.

See previous extracts from the Gender GP website which explains current situation

Is it true you have been suspended?
My LHB (local health board) have been advised of the large number of complaints that have been made to the GMC about me by the consultants at Charing Cross and the GIDS. They have temporarily suspended my ability to work as an NHS GP in Wales.

Dr Helen Webberley:
"My LHB (local health board) have been advised of the large number of complaints that have been made to the GMC about me by the consultants at Charing Cross and the GIDS"

heresyandwitchcraft · 24/09/2018 11:33

Thanks R0wan. It is just a little confusing when you have a peek at the register.

Trousered · 24/09/2018 11:39

Interesting how Campbell is a bit sneery at Webberly but sucks up to Alexa(?) They both sound equally as daft.

Trousered · 24/09/2018 11:41

Listening in to the recording, she's on about being given a gender at birth. I didn't get one. Where is it? Is there a gender tracing service available?

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 24/09/2018 11:42

Thought this programme was a load of wank, no 'debate' at all as they were too scared to look at the GC view.

I asked my 7 year old how you told the difference between a man and woman (after explaining some men like to dress as women and referring to window twankey/ ugly sisters etc which he has seen at panto time) and he said 'a man has a winky and a lady has a fanny' why is it my son can get this simple fact which eludes so many others - then again wasn't it a child who called out the emporer's new clothes?

Trousered · 24/09/2018 11:46

How interesting, listening to Campbell saying that mimicking a mincing walk is incredible offensive and yet we have the NHS paying for men to learn how to do a mincing walk.

Redkeyboard · 24/09/2018 11:52

Good point. Shame the BBC allowed no one with a gender critical view on to make it.

Bejazzled · 24/09/2018 11:53

I think that the BBC as an organisation is in danger of disappearing up its own arse. I can see them sitting on their beanbags and earnestly discussing what the ignorant general public need educated about next.

placemats · 24/09/2018 11:54

That was a incoherent 'debate'. I'm none the wiser.

The BBC are skirting around safeguarding by getting Webberly in.

Jog22 · 24/09/2018 12:04

Nicky Campbell says it was an 'exploration' not a debate:

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 24/09/2018 12:06

Yeah it wasn't a debate as they were not considering any opposing views to TWAW!

LadyBrian · 24/09/2018 12:07

That was so awful. I'm really struggling with how a doctor can find it so hard to describe what sex is, it's so basic!

Perhaps Dr Webberley might read a recently published book by a gender specialist Dr Az Hakeem.

'TRANS: Exploring Gender Identity and Gender Dysphoria: A book for everyone including professionals'

He has written the introductory chapters with clear explanation of terms.
The open access includes chapters on sex & gender.

Trousered · 24/09/2018 12:35

Silly people. So many silly people.

iamawoman · 24/09/2018 12:49

Trans dogma

Biological sex doesn't really exist/sex isn't binary blahblahblah

Trans = gender identity opposite to the sexed body you were born in

Cis = gender identity is same as sexed body

HmmConfused

boatyardblues · 24/09/2018 12:51

I heard something on R4 this morning about the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime pulverising traditional broadcasters like the BBC. A few years ago, this would have really saddened me but their uncritical regurgitation of this POMO bullshit has tarnished & discredited the BBC as much as it has the Guardian. I’m losing patience.
