I actually agree with India to an extent. It's serving no-one to pretend that everyone under the umbrella is the same and ought to be treated the same.

There are many different ways to be trans. The middle aged cross-dresser is different from the flamboyant and imaginative dress-wearing boy, is different from the ladypenised misogynist, is different from the old-school transexual just trying to get on with their life.

All very different things. Where India and I part ways is that I know that none of them are women.

But for the women or girls coming face to face with a male transperson in female spaces, it's impossible to differentiate between them.

If transpeople want to widen or narrow the definition of trans, fine. Still not a reason for male people to be in female spaces.

The only people for whom it's helpful to collapse and conflate the categories is the ones who are trojan horsing. If you make it impossible to differentiate between dysphoria and a fetish, then it's the person with dysphoria who loses out, because their serious mental health condition gets put on a par with someone who likes popping on his wife's knickers of a weekend.

But regardless of who gets to decide who is True Trans and who isn't, it's always women who bear the brunt.
