"He's not a real woman but I am". Smile

ps does anyone know why this is blowing up now? I swear that Pips Bunce had won this award or a similar one or at least was in the news months and months ago.

Stonewall should distance Stonewall from Stonewall at this point.

Biologifemini · 22/09/2018 08:55

To be fair India sounds like she has dysphoria of some sort.
Bunce is just taking the piss and trying to re educate everyone at CS with the kool aid.
The aesthetics are not feminine anyway. No woman has dressed like that since the 1970s. It is a perfectly fine fetish but it shouldn’t be confused with women and femininity.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/09/2018 08:55

I had a dream, that we could have a gay rights org that actually represented gay people...

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 08:56

I think that may be the first time I've ever seen Lang do understatement.

God knows why, but I'm feeling quite jolly this morning. I expect this to change once I've caught up with all threads.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/09/2018 08:56

People with the fetish in question do seem to get a bit stuck, sartorially speaking, in the era in which they first developed it.

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 08:57

Well yes, but we could make the argument that Bunce is preferable because Bunce is only appropriating twice a week?

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 09:20

I wrote this on another thread but I'm quite prud of it so...:

IW: Mistaken about self. Really upset when she butts against people who disagree with IW

PB: Lies about self. Really upset when he butts against people who try and stop him

Both: Haven't thought beyond themselves. Haven't thought about women. Women are really insulted by that, because on the whole, women are socialised to care as much about others, of not more, than themselves. And here it is; that niceness being exploited

Lots of people: Bit aggrieved at being forced to lie

India Willoughby has talked about living a divided life:
Express October 2016

'Transgender journalist India Willoughby talks about the double life she led for decades
SINCE India Willoughby joined ITV as a presenter on its local news channel in Cumbria last November, she has been busy making headlines of her own as Britain’s first transgender TV journalist.'

"What makes her story more remarkable is that in the five years between quitting the show as Jonathan in 2010 and returning as India, she lived a bizarre and secret double life.

In her own words she was “flip- flopping between genders”.

“I did it because I didn’t want to upset my family and friends,” she explained.

During the week she lived in Newcastle where she donned skirts, heels and makeup to work as glamorous female PR executive Joanne Charles.

On Friday evenings she’d revert to being doting father Jonathan, pulling on jeans and a football shirt before driving the 60 miles back to Carlisle to see her son." (continues)

“The next day I thought, ‘Maybe there’s a better way’. And that’s when I decided to split my life in two.”

Talking about how she led a double life for five long years she said: “It was like being undercover. But I was losing my identity. I couldn’t be male, that was pretence from the off, but I couldn’t be fully female either.

“I had two sets of friends, neither of which knew the other existed, and my family were completely oblivious to the life I was living. But the mental strain of juggling two lives… got too much.” (continues)

This sounds remarkably similar to Bunce's life, except that one is being done openly and being celebrated

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 09:21

proud of it

nicenewdusters · 22/09/2018 09:25

Yes, it's annoying India isn't it. There you are living your life as a "real woman" and some bloke in a dress comes along and says no, don't look at them, look at me, I'm a real woman.

About 50% of the population potentially know how you feel.

CrackpotsArePots · 22/09/2018 09:26

nice

Succinctly put

OhtheHillsareAlive · 22/09/2018 09:28

India would like to gatekeep the bounds of womanhood at exactly that point that India gets to enter it. India and Pips only disagree about the exact placement of the boot on women's necks

Brilliant. Can we all quote this on Twitter.

Philip Bunce has a SAHM wife who facilitates his career. She's taken the hit to her career because of her biology What the fuck do these men not understand?

Plonkers.

SophoclesTheFox · 22/09/2018 09:29

Nicely put, nice.

I find that story about India's two lives quite disconcerting.

SophoclesTheFox · 22/09/2018 09:30

have at it, ohthehills, I'm not on Twitter myself, and only half the quotation is my own original work Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 22/09/2018 09:31

I think that story was meant to make the reader feel sorry for India? Mostly made me feel sorry for India's wife.

R0wantrees · 22/09/2018 09:33

During the week she lived in Newcastle where she donned skirts, heels and makeup to work as glamorous female PR executive Joanne Charles.

I wonder if Joanne Charles also required female colleagues to share same sex spaces, use Joanne Charles' preferred pronouns etc and really, if Joanne had been put forward for a 'Women in PR' award at the time would Joanne/Jonathan have been so distressed by the inappropriateness of this?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/09/2018 09:50

God knows why, but I'm feeling quite jolly this morning

Oh now im scared 😩

MsBeaujangles · 22/09/2018 09:50

If you remove some of the wording/constructs that IW uses, I agree with some of her sentiments......

There is a world of difference between people who suffer from gender dysphoria and everybody else who places themselves under the trans umberalla.

The broadening of the trans umbrella throws people with GD under the bus alongside some systems put in place to support them.

Many trans identities involve completely divorcing sex and gender, others depend on sex and gender bring conflated and certain trans people's interests conflict with other trans people's.

I actually think that the more society is forced to cater for the full range of trans identities, the less threat this could present to women and girls. Provision of gender neutral services alongside sex based provision would work for all but mtf and ftm trans people. I expect this is what upsets IW so much.

poshme · 22/09/2018 09:54

In the times article about Philip/pippa Bunce (which is a great article & Kristina Harrison & Kirk tunks if you're reading you are fab) the article ends 'Mr Bunce declined to comment'

So the times is clear that they think he is male. Smile

RogerAllamsFangirl · 22/09/2018 10:01

God knows why, but I'm feeling quite jolly this morning

Lang, out with it; what have you had for breakfast?

Datun · 22/09/2018 10:14

Sick of this. Male born people deciding exactly how and why they can usurp women.

Tara Hudson demanding it's longevity.

Debbie Hayton demanding it's surgery.

India Willoughby demanding it's gender dysphoria.

Phillip Bunce demanding it's clothes.

Stonewall demanding it doesn't matter, it's whatever they say it is, including rapists, paedophiles and nappy fetishists.

They couldn't make themselves look more ridiculous if they tried.

R0wantrees · 22/09/2018 10:16

And here's Caitlin Jenner describing the long process it took to become a 'loose woman'

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 10:18

Oh now im scared

Bwah ha ha.

Lang, out with it; what have you had for breakfast?

Special K. The DH didn't get the one with red berries in it which is, apparently, heresy, so DS1 won't eat it. It is a function of the patriarchy that I am the house food hoover. And you wonder why I default to the WBH.

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 10:19

Hear, hear Datun!

ijustwannadance · 22/09/2018 10:25

India hopes the proposed changes to the GRA are dropped. Perhaps someone on twitter could send her the consultation link.Grin
