"He's not a real woman but I am". Smile

ps does anyone know why this is blowing up now? I swear that Pips Bunce had won this award or a similar one or at least was in the news months and months ago.

I found these tweets quite chilling. I think this is where some people would like society to get to. That once a certain amount of surgery is done, one isn't allowed to ask about the T word or acknowledge it in any way. It's too Orwellian for my liking. India doesn't pass outside of photos. It's ludicrous

The broadening of the trans umbrella throws people with GD under the bus alongside some systems put in place to support them.

The broadening of the trans umbrella also highlights how the systems put in place to protect people (mainly males) with gd has thrown women under the bus.

Agree with whoever said that india's definition of women is "ME!!!!!".

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 22/09/2018 10:42

gendercritter. That's why it's important to separate "women" from "women's biology". Because while that is allowed to continue male transpeople will never completely transition.

Thats why 'men have period, need terminations..." is the only transmens right anyone talks about - it benefits males to separate women from their biology.

PositivelyPERF · 22/09/2018 10:58

That link to Willoughby’s twitter comes up as no longer existing.

Erm... You do know we're already there right?

Once someone has a GRC, it is illegal for anyone in a professional capacity to disclose that person is transgender even to a colleague. There's even arguments right now that rape must be scubbed from criminal records if it reveals that someone was once a man.

Small mercies: Trans history can be disclosed in the pursuit of a criminal investigation.

Freespeecher · 22/09/2018 11:19

Going back to the OP I note that Willoughby uses male pronouns for Bunce, which I had previously understood to be a capital offence.

Apart from that, I find India's use of the 'free speech is hate speech' trope to be ridiculous, counterproductive and incredibly worrying in equal measure.

hackmum · 22/09/2018 11:23

I can't tell you how shocked I am. Grin

This is massively entertaining, though. Having ranted and raved about the evil fascist Mumsnetters' opposition to self-ID, India finally sees the consequences of self-ID in action and doesn't like it. So does that make India an evil fascist too? Listen to India's brain slowly ticking as she tries to work it out.

gendercritter · 22/09/2018 11:24

I think it could get very much worse, I'm afraid. The situation now is bad but if you explore where things could end up.... As you say at least now a trans person's historycanbe disclosed in the pursuit of a criminal investigation.

HermioneWeasley · 22/09/2018 11:30

India fears men like Bunce because it shows up the “identify as” bullshit for what it is. If woman is a feeling, then it follows that you need only have that feeling from tine to time, and no surgery is required. It makes people go “but if Pippa isn’t a woman, perhaps a man with his cock inverted and a surgically created wound isn’t a woman either”

MrGHardy · 22/09/2018 11:31

Sophocles

"India would like to gatekeep the bounds of womanhood at exactly that point that India gets to enter it. India and Pips only disagree about the exact placement of the boot on women's necks."

That's exactly what I thought. What's the difference between them. As long as you act a woman full time it makes you one? Or is it a certain number of feminizing surgeries that are required?

waterlego6064 · 22/09/2018 11:31

So IW is a TERF? She’s misgendering and gatekeeping. I’d say that makes her a TERF.

hackmum · 22/09/2018 11:32

Not only a TERF, but one guilty of LITERAL VIOLENCE for misgendering the brave and stunning Pippa Bunce.

waterlego6064 · 22/09/2018 11:36

Fucking infuriating though for all the GC feminists (many here on MN) who have spent years patiently pointing this stuff out, and now the penny has finally fucking dropped and somehow the GC/TERFs are still the enemy?

Why does it have to take so long for any of them to see the contradictions and the illogic of their position?

IW believes trans is a word only for people who have dysphoria. Many other TRAs would call that bigotry because being trans ‘isn’t a mental illness’.

Ikeasucks · 22/09/2018 11:36

IW is considered a terf, transphobic and a shallow self absorbed twit by many in the trans community. Their tweets are a sight to behold.

Lol @ brave and stunning.

DuckingGoodPJs · 22/09/2018 11:46

Yes, it's annoying India isn't it. There you are living your life as a "real woman" and some bloke in a dress comes along and says no, don't look at them, look at me, I'm a real woman.

About 50% of the population potentially know how you feel.

Nailed it, nice

Datun's list too.

DuckingGoodPJs · 22/09/2018 11:51

So, basically we (lowly females and all, former residents of Class Woman) are not allowed to complain about the likes of part timer Bunce, because 'transphobia', but India Willoughby is.

Seems like everybody (born with a penis) is allowed to have this say in womanhood, except, actual females. Got it.

boatyardblues · 22/09/2018 12:00

Special K. The DH didn't get the one with red berries in it which is, apparently, heresy, so DS1 won't eat it. It is a function of the patriarchy that I am the house food hoover. And you wonder why I default to the WBH.

My kids spurned my pancakes this morning, declaring them too soggy. I used more milk in the batter than usual to stretch the last remaining egg gifted to me by a friend from his garden hens. I would have much rather fried or poachiing. I’ve declared a month-long pancake strike. If they don’t like mine, they can make their own.

/merail.

SophoclesTheFox · 22/09/2018 12:09

I'd like a pancake boartyard!

Freespeecher · 22/09/2018 12:10

Oh Gawd. It's like the Stalinist / Trotskyist split all over again.

Will it finish by Willoughby picking on Bunce?

boatyardblues · 22/09/2018 12:14

You sound like you might actually appreciate one, Sophocles. I may make exceptions, but not for my children. I’ve taught them how to make pancakes so, in theory, they are pancake self-sufficient. The doing just eats into their screen time. 🙄 No more!

boatyardblues · 22/09/2018 12:17

Will it finish by Willoughby picking on Bunce?

I suspect with the level of offence that even minor differences of expression and opinion cause in TRA circles, it could descent into an almighty bunfight. It doesn’t help that the reach of Stonewall’s umbrella captures a multitude of competing interests.

Datun · 22/09/2018 12:24

Is that Gay4corbyn person a parody account?

They're saying that only transwomen who identify as women full time should get an award for women in business.

I shall have to add that to my list.

So what do we have? What is the list of criteria male born people are fighting over?

You must commit full-time to saying you're woman.
You only have to say it two days out of seven.
You have to get turned on by saying it.
You have to be distressed if you can't say it.
You have to say it and have surgery.
You have to have been saying it for years.
You have to be able to rape women while saying it.
You will commit crime if you can't say it.
Anyone can say, for any reason.

Got it.

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 12:25

I’ve declared a month-long pancake strike. If they don’t like mine, they can make their own.

My view on these things also. I don't mind hoovering up rejected items but I'm not wiping anybody's preferred-menu arse, thankyouverymuch.

I will guarantee you that the weak-willed DH will drive to the supermarket to buy the bloody red berries Special K by the end of the day. He folds like a cheap suit.

MsBeaujangles · 22/09/2018 12:26

I wish I could properly recall what this reminds me of....

I saw a cartoon once where there were a series of characters presented 1 by one, each making the same statement. As it went on, the statement seemed more and more ridiculous and by the end, most viewers will have shifted from complete agreement with the statement to seeing it for what it was.

This really reminds me of this, but in reverse.

Sorry, probably a useless post but potentially an idea for a good animation!
