GoldenWonderwall · 28/09/2018 21:09

I love seeing women passionately and intelligently speaking about the things that mean something to them as women, I find it very inspiring. Must have been great to be there!

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 21:12

Venice please speak more often, you were great WineThanks

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 21:13

I watched part of Julia and all of Venice in a taxi.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 28/09/2018 21:14

It was incredible. I’m a bit speechless tbh. And I’m not even there, I watched on YouTube. Amazing, all of them.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 28/09/2018 21:37

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 28/09/2018 21:38

arranfan · 28/09/2018 22:53

Am I correct in saying that in the closing minutes of the meeting, somebody reported that Jess Bradley of NUS notoriety was at the Labour conference last week?

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 23:15

Yes, I believe so.

Has anyone transcribed Julia's marvellous "Sam I Am" poem yet - because that should go down in history.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 28/09/2018 23:39

Someone posted the words of the poem recently here and it was deleted.

Julia named the poet but I can’t find what I though I remembered online to link. Can you remember her name?

arranfan · 28/09/2018 23:46

Iris Child poem - I will not say it, tran-I-am

silentcrow · 28/09/2018 23:48

Iris Child is the poet, yes, it's the one that was posted here. Here's the link: irischild.blogspot.com/2018/09/i-will-not-say-it-tran-i-am.html

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 23:54

Thank you! Had not seen it before, got it now.

Sadly, I'm not surprised it was deleted from here. Hmm

We can't even write poetry about our experiences now, us mere women. Not if it offends the men.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 29/09/2018 00:08

I was looking for the right name!

Thanks.

LadyBrianAdultHumanFemale · 29/09/2018 00:22

Such an amazing night xx

TerfedOff · 29/09/2018 00:29

Just got home after drinks with all the GC celebs.

Met Sandy Draws Badly, Sweary, Anne Ruzlo, Posie, Venice.... the list goes on.

Absolutely inspirational women every one.

As a survivor of domestic violence the speech that brought me to tears was by the representative of Jean Hatchett. What a truly amazing dedicated wonderful woman she is. A complete Shero.

God these women deserve such a better world as we all do.

AyeRobot · 29/09/2018 00:34

I watched it all and I really can't understand how you can be so disconnected from your own being as a woman as to not instantly get this stuff.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2018 00:49

The link upthread is even better than transcribing because we can get to other poems. I've only just started looking but this is great

Hyppolyta · 29/09/2018 01:08

SilentCrow I think I was sat next to you, if so sorry for leaving the pub without saying goodbye, I couldnt see you!

Had such an amazing night amd got a bit starstruck stood having a fag next to Sandy, it was just wonderful to meet so many inspirational women.

miketv · 29/09/2018 01:08

What a great night. Really good to hear people speak, meet real people in the flesh who think like me and talk to the fabulous speakers.

I feel like I'm on the right side of history thighs, no matter what happens going forward.

silentcrow · 29/09/2018 01:15

Hyppolyta not me, sorry - I didn't come to the pub, had to head off. Maybe next time 😊

How many of you are coming to FiLiA next month? I seem to have missed loads of people tonight.

LiverpoolReSisters · 29/09/2018 01:17

Still in the pub, about to be thrown out.

The energy from all these women who know they aren't alone, who know they are working for something real and good .... Wonderful.

BingBongSong · 29/09/2018 02:19

I had a great time, thank you to all of the speakers and the wonderful women whom I met in the pub afterwards!

I'm not there yet in terms of such uncompromising language, although I would like to be. I get that it's necessary but I'm still in "being kind" mode, even though Sweary's "fuck kind" is more appropriate at this moment in time!

Have done a lot of womanning this week. It feels good.

UrsulaPandress · 29/09/2018 04:05

That poem is brilliant and basically covers all the angles of Posie's chat with IW.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 29/09/2018 07:53

I'll be at filia, silentcrow!! :)
