The term "men in dresses"

Trans-excluders like to say that they're absolutely fine with boys who don't fit in with gender stereotypes. And I, not one of you, am fine with children not fitting gender stereotypes. But I don't think that is true of all of you. Why is "man in a dress" used as an insult by so many of you?

SweetGrapes · 12/09/2018 15:45

I googled 'men in dresses' and came across this article It's a few years old - I wonder where he is now and whether he still says this.

AllDayBreakfast · 12/09/2018 15:52

I wonder if the posters saying that "men in dresses" is a factual description would be happy for feminists to be described as "women making a fuss"?

dolorsit · 12/09/2018 16:00

Y'know what's going to happen to this thread if it's left up.

It will morph into a discussion as to why our society considers a man wearing a dress is somehow "lesser" We may discuss toxic masculinity, how "gender norms" vary over time and by culture. There will probably be many more photos of attractive males wearing a frock and maybe some interesting discussion along the way.

And then it will be deleted.
In about 3 weeks.
For being goading.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:02

dolor

Yep spot on

You are probably right, dolorsit

SweetGrapes · 12/09/2018 16:11

"women making a fuss" - this isn't a fact. It's an opinion.

Datun · 12/09/2018 16:15

We don't use the expression men in dresses. Not sure why you want to remain under that impression.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 16:19

The OP was offensive and goady.

Agreed.

MNHQ have derailed this thread more than anyone talking about avocado on toast.

Agreed. It was very poor judgement by the mod.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 16:20

"women making a fuss"?

Don't you mean "non-men"?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:21

WAIT...THEY DELATED AVOCADO ON TOAST RECIPES

Good god what is the world coming to

Cereals...fair enough. Avocado toast? No Hmm

nauticant · 12/09/2018 16:28

I never thought I'd see the day when MNHQ would show itself to be avocado exclusionary.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 12/09/2018 16:32

"People wouldn't risk violence, bullying, limited career options, murder, antagonism, social exclusion, family exclusion, mental health illness, and even suicide just because they woke up one day and wanted to don a pretty frock!"

...we're getting back into trans-goth territory here aren't we...?

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 12/09/2018 16:33

Also Yy to the thread randomly being deleted in three weeks time. Plus ça change...

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:34

I agree nauticant

I just wonder where is all went wrong at MNHQ Sad

Bet it was bloody lang with her weetabix shite

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 16:35

I love you lang

Gronky · 12/09/2018 16:35

Thank you MNHQ for taking the sensible route. If you don't like a topic, it's the easiest thing in the world to just ignore it and not reply. Flooding a thread with deliberately disruptive nonsense is effectively similar to the no-platforming facing many GC feminists.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 12/09/2018 16:36

Sorry to derail now, but talking of WBH... ds1 informed me this morning "I've only eaten half of my weetabix, I think the milk is off"
[boak] ffs why have you eaten half then, you bloody doughnut!!

That is horror. Banana mush would be heaven in comparison!

Fairenuff · 12/09/2018 16:38

Yep. Threats to rape, stab, burn and dox.

That's totally the same as discussing breakfast.

FloralBunting · 12/09/2018 16:39

Feminists = women making a fuss.

Sure, why not?

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 12/09/2018 16:41

If I'm forced to identify as anything, I would like to id as a woman making a fuss.

LangCleg · 12/09/2018 16:42

Y'all rang?

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 12/09/2018 16:43
Grin
Gronky · 12/09/2018 16:43

Fairenuff, the aim is the same: to prevent a discussion, the exact methods and their severity might vary. Hence why I said 'similar' and not [the] 'same'. Wink

Melanippe · 12/09/2018 16:51

Feminists equalling "women making a fuss" would be a fucking cake walk in comparison to the endless boring trolling of this forum by dullard men.

I'll even make a badge if it means that stupid men who believe in the superiority of their opinions based purely on their presence of a set of testicles of objectivity would just piss off. I honestly doubt I will ever have to find my badge making kit for this though.
