I have no words

It's not the original comment that affects me it's the comments section. I thought female erasure was a metaphor - not literal reality.

To think these campaigners are driving public policy. The comments section is truly terrifying.

Red, you are right -sadly, that's much more likey!

OlennasWimple · 11/09/2018 16:09

Interestingly I watched the Danish Girl the other day and had a light bulb moment about where LM got their inspirations for the wispy voice and hand wafting that they seem to believe gives them a feminine aura...

Anyway, I did some reading about Lili Elbe (the Danish Girl of the film's title), and although the film version had her dying from complications with a second bout of SRS, in real life Lili died from complications arising from surgery involving a womb transplant

Hmm

I've said it before, I'll say it again (and again and again) - wombs are not a plug and play organ. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

The twitter user who believes that her womb hasn't been used? Presumably she has been having periods? What does she think the blood is? (And if she hasn't had normal periods, one might think that her womb is unlikely to be a good candidate for a transplant....)

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 16:11

Men ain’t gonna like this - if science gives transwomen the opportunity to gestate babies, then it also gives ‘cis’ men the same opportunity!

Who stays at home to have kids will be decided on coin flipping or short straw pulling and millennia of women’s class oppression will be over!

Thank Lily!

(I was a youngish mum when studying at Goldsmiths. An academic year’s worth of nursery fees at the on campus nursery took up my entire student loan. That was 15 years ago, bet the nursery fees have gone up faster than the loan totals).

theworldistoosmall · 11/09/2018 16:11

Thought I was going crazy then lol thinking maybe I imagined it. Was further back LM started mentioning that this was possible.

theworldistoosmall · 11/09/2018 16:13

Oh, some men will like this, just to prove a point that we overreact and there's nothing to it. That anyone can do it and it's not that painful Grin

Oliversmumsarmy · 11/09/2018 16:14

Science in the late 2000s

Isn't that 900 years from now.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2018 16:15

A couple of months ago, around the time of becoming a women's officer.

Has someone been outdoing Lily as 'Top Trans' lately?

Naaa... Couldn't be something like that...

Letshopeitsallok · 11/09/2018 16:16

Given that I have a womb, ovaries, tubes etc. all in the right place, with right hormones in the right cycles and even with IVF couldn’t get it to work to make or hold a baby, I very much doubt womb transplants are in our near or even distant future.

littlbrowndog · 11/09/2018 16:17

Lols top trans 😂😂

Lancelottie · 11/09/2018 16:19

It's all a bit 13-year-old Debating Society, isn't it? 'This House Believes that... abortion should be illegal/pocket money is a legal right/everyone should adopt babies and a donkey/school uniform should be banned/people should be allowed to swap body parts'.

Lily's how to get attention guide:

  1. Say something really stupid and offensive but pretend it's essential for your wellbeing and that denial would be cruel.
  2. Anticipate being mocked.
  3. Say inevitable mockery comes from place of cruelty and wickedness.
  4. Be fake upset by attention which you've courted.
  5. Bask in sympathy from equally idiotic followers.
  6. Retweet some of the comments from here (because that is coming) and moan about why won't people leave you alone and that you're only 20.
  7. Get more sympathy.
  8. Ask for money for food.
  9. Post picture of self on holiday (again)
Lancelottie · 11/09/2018 16:20

Sorry to hear that, Letshope Flowers

These kids haven't a clue, really.

Another thing I've said before... I don't think it's a coincidence that there are a fair few FWR regulars who have had fertility problems, because nothing brings biology home like having body parts that don't work quite how they are supposed to (in my case, a cervix that can't hold a baby in to term)

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/09/2018 16:23

There aren't exactly great outcomes for women on life support to sustain a pregnancy to term and that is with the correct set up anatomically and help with hormone levels temperature etc

This surly won't be able to he done in men?

And where will the wombs come from..

Letshopeitsallok · 11/09/2018 16:24

Ahh thanks Betty. I’m ok. My tone was in exasperation at stupidity, not sadness. We were lucky enough to adopt a gorgeous LO who is a delight. I know not everyone gets to be that fortunate.

Still pisses me off that I have to have periods. Bloody thing doesn’t work properly but gives lots me grief every month. Can’t identify my way out of that one.

tinytemper66 · 11/09/2018 16:24

I have just been on her twitter account and it is full of shit! Everyone is fawning over her!
I have posted something asking the person about how it will work.
I doubt I will last long!

Remind me. How does this differ from Donald Trump and Boris Johnson?

(Plenty of evidence that suggests that Trump and Johnson are still 20 in their heads).

placemats · 11/09/2018 16:26

Uterine transplants are incredibly complex and currently only involve close family members. A woman who has a uterus can get pregnant all of her life, even at the age of 70+ if she so wishes.

However, ovarian transplants - ?????? Shock forget it. It's difficult enough to transplant frozen ovarian tissue back into the woman it was taken from post chemotherapy.

The delusion of LM doesn't even begin to cover it. This is a very vulnerable person.

MonotonousSeagull · 11/09/2018 16:27

Littlbrowndog
Putting it in their heads. 😂

53rdWay · 11/09/2018 16:29

And where will the wombs come from

I believe from all the handmaidens who are talking about how happy they are to donate theirs. Assume they’ve not had to deal with any major uterus-related surgery yet and think a hysterectomy is merely getting your uterus effortlessly transported out of your body, Star Trek style.

placemats · 11/09/2018 16:29

Letshope Flowers

Agree.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 11/09/2018 16:29

I'm sorry too, Letshope

And this is what that offensive child can't understand. That struggles with fertility cause real pain to real people. It's not some stupid game - a way to score points by goading feminists. Lily isn't - as far as we know - infertile. But Lily would put themselves and every male born person ahead of women.

beenandgoneandbackagain · 11/09/2018 16:29

Weren't medical trials of the male hormonal contraceptive pill halted because men couldn't cope with the side effects? And they think men are going to tolerate pregnancy?
