Shon Faye and the Stickers

So Shon has been ripping down a pro-woman sticker allegedly found in a toilet and taken some selfies. This picture says a lot about Shon, but not quite what Shon thinks it does.

A picture of yourself holding up a sticker which says 'women's sex based rights' which you have proudly ripped up. Not a great look is it?

Well, it raises awareness of the campaign. Not a very good look, though, to anyone new to the issue. I am quite sure PinkNews wrote a whole article about this gleeful celebration of the abolishment of female sex-based rights and destroying women's boundaries. But the picture says it all.

Hahaha!! Not only is PinkNews staunchly anti-female rights, but it looks like PinkNews is also in favour of redesigning the Pride rainbow flag!

How is a rainbow not inclusive enough?

Can they not leave ANYTHING alone?!

Well, Shon's going to be very busy. I'm going to be out this weekend stickering and I imagine so will the other hundreds of women who ordered the packs.

Shon is in a disabled toilet. Shon has spent some time taking off the stickers and setting up the photo shot via their own computer.

Or Shon had help.

Either way, there is a disabled person who isn't able to go to the toilet because Shon desperately needs to highlight this inequality and hatred.

The irony is lost on Shon.

I was shown that flag some time ago by my husband (it won a design competition) and I thought it was hilarious. The way it looks like a plough is moving across the rainbow.

So they've taken a flag which perfectly represented a full spectrum, and added (as I understand it) black and brown for colour (why?) and pink and pale blue - which in the real world represent sexist gender stereotyping. Confused

Or is it always what I've seen? Just abuse, sneering and total lack of anything like empathy or sympathy.

You know - from these people who reckon they're also women.

It's kind of unfortunate as well with that flag, that it looks like the trans colours are coming in from the side to push everything else out of the way! Awks.

I assume the black and brown are for ethnic minorities. Which is fine but I always thought Pride was about sexuality? And if they want to include all oppressed groups then shouldn't women be in there as well?

That new inclusive flag has black and brown stripes to represent POC as well as people who have died from AIDS? How is that not enormously offensive?!

As for Shon. Well Shin has only ever been interested in Shon. Doesn't give a shiny shit about anyone else. If a disabled person shits their pants while Shon is setting up the photo, they're just collateral damage, worthwhile sacrifice for the greater cause

I think it's well-intentioned and meant to include people of colour? But as I have seen commented on in MANY places elsewhere, the rainbow flag was already designed to include everyone, to celebrate love regardless of melanin content in your skin, etc. I think it's a beautiful symbol as it stands, and this re-design just looks... I will be polite and say very visually unappealing?

(Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread. Just thought it was an interesting thing to note on the PN Twitter timeline.)
