Previous thread here:

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

One thing we could all do is try to work on the women's equality party to listen to our concerns. There may just a glimmer of hope here, as Sophie Walker has just published an emergency motion ahead of the conference in 2 weeks time saying she recognises that women are frightened to speak and the conference should allow closed debates away from the press on self ID. She also accepts there needs to be a debate about safeguarding. They must be watching the Greens destroy themselves over this and perhaps repositioning themselves. If you can, join, even go to the conference just make a noise until they have to listen to us all. Over the last few years I've kept leaving parties and groups in disgust for one reason or another, including Labour over self I'd ( and Brexit) and the women's equality party but have realised that leaving makes it easier for extremists to get their own way.

Bowlofbabelfish · 31/08/2018 21:11

The left's abandonment of the working class vote in favour of middle class student politics - which is proving itself to be totally tone deaf and politically blind to safeguarding is therefore extremely politically dangerous. Not just for women but also trans people themselves and for ethnic minorities.

This. There will be a backlash and it will harm minorities and women. Do NOT vote or support the far right on this. In Sweden (where we have family) the SD (far right, make UKIP look like centrists) are set to get 20% of the vote in the elections this month. In a country with proportional representation.

There’s no PR in the uk so the political system is in some ways cushioned against more fringe parties, but look to Europe and you’ll see what happens when the backlash hits. The SD, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Italy - all are seeing the resurgence of the far right. Immigration/religion/austerity is the main driver but women’s rights (and the rights of minorities) will be collateral damage

Jeez, this makes the LD LGBT Twitter account look almost ok

I know Twitter is a cesspit, but what's with no-one taking responsibility for anything ever? And spending most of their time arse-covering?

I found myself blocked from seeing pretty much anyone on Twitter, despite registering, following a few people, and never sending a single tweet. It's weird. Now I follow Graham Linehan without logging in and find most stuff that way.

Maryzsnewaccount · 31/08/2018 21:12

Has AC gone from Twitter now? I can't even see it when not logged in Confused

arranfan · 31/08/2018 21:20

Still there. However, a young woman with the same name but a different spelling of the surname has gone from view so to speak as it looks like she was being @'d inappropriately/by mistake.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2018 21:21

New handle: @AimeeChallenor

Sarahconnor1 · 31/08/2018 21:24

Nope still there but as AimeeChallenor@AimeeChallenor

Trans Equality Campaigner. Co-convener of Global Greens LGBT+ Network. Public Speaker. Member of @stonewalluk

Which reminds me is it still tumbleweed from stonewall?

Popchyk · 31/08/2018 21:25

One thing we all know.

AC is not going to go quietly.

This is just the start.

Do they need someone to go into Celebrity Big Brother?

Strictly Come Dancing?

Love Island?

I am slack-jawed with admiration at your remarkable progamme-casting vision. I don't know if I should claim that you are the genuine inspiration for the programme runner characters in Unreal and ask where my £5 is.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 31/08/2018 21:42

The suspension with 'no fault' condition isn't unusual I don't think. I'm not in HR but have previous professional experience of investigating people alleged to have behaved inappropriately and/or criminally within their professional role.

Suspension with 'no fault' assumed was par for the course in the first instance, to protect the individual (from spurious further allegations should they subsequently be found to be innocent) and the public/organisation (should the allegations be later be found to be true). This is how it was in the workplace I was in where employers/social services/police might each have a role in the same overlapping investigation of a person.

Of course in the first instance the GP should have suspended AC, to protect all. That they didn't beggars belief in so many ways.

Maryzsnewaccount · 31/08/2018 22:00

Love island might be problematic

I have no issue with "no-fault" suspension. If no fault is proved, great, If AC genuinely didn't know what her dad was up to, great - AC will need support and help and whatever.

But if AC did know, then there is fault. And the investigation should find it.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 31/08/2018 22:07

Indeed Maryz. This position is taken by so many organisations, I assumed it would be policy in most of them in this country, it's simply common sense regardless of eventual outcomes. That's why it's so staggering that the GP did bugger all when the guilty verdict was announced, utterly unprofessional of the GP.

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2018 22:14

Caroline Lucas sounds one hell of an unhappy bunny.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2018 22:28

Agreed. From her terfblocker comment I am inferring that she might not be entirely happy with the direction the party is going on, and that she may have foreseen something like this blowing up.

Cismyfatarse1 · 31/08/2018 22:30

Is that a new Twitter account? In spite of never, ever interacting with it, I am blocked.

So, does that mean Terfblocker lives?

BitOfFun · 31/08/2018 22:44

Me too.

Maryzsnewaccount · 31/08/2018 22:46

I'm blocked too.

And I've never tweeted a single tweet Grin

arranfan · 31/08/2018 22:46

Is that a new Twitter account?

No, it's a change of twitter handle for the same account.

Maryzsnewaccount · 31/08/2018 22:46

I have to access twitter on an in cognito page, or I can't see anything.

BitOfFun · 31/08/2018 22:50

How do you do that, Maryz?

Oldstyle · 31/08/2018 22:52

Twitter saying that Caroline is resigning. Is this old news / new news / fake news? I'd be sorry if she left politics. This is a complete mess but I still believe in her integrity. Similar to Leanne Wood of Plaid Cymru. Good people but somehow haven't seen through the PR to realise the dangers of this woman-hating ideology.

arranfan · 31/08/2018 22:54

Twitter saying that Caroline is resigning

If that is true, I should think it's as Leader/Co-Leader so she can concentrate on being an MP. It may be well scheduled to allow the election and result of the party election that is under discussion?

BitOfFun · 31/08/2018 22:54

RESIGNING, resigning? Or just stepping down to focus on her work as an MP?

LadybirdsAreBirds · 31/08/2018 22:58

BitOfFun

Or 'on a break'?

theOtherPamAyres · 31/08/2018 23:15

There are elections for the leadership taking place in the GP.

CL wants other "talents" to come forward so is not standing for re-election as the Leader. She says that she has enough on her plate and that it's important that more Greens take the strain.
