Previous thread here:

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

Link to BBC Coventry & Warks for anyone who wants to listen at 5pm.

Alternatively, if you are into your green issues there is an hour long documentary called 'Lost Valley of the Volcano' on BBC2 at 4.15pm which is about finding rare Bird of Paradise.

abused by evil witch Caroline and the Rumpelstiltskin Shahrar Ali?

Our reporter, one of the Brothers Grimm, records the inside story that rivals the more famous classic, Snow White.

Learn what safeguarding is available to protect Hans & Gretel. Gasp at the perfidy of trusted allies. Cheer as our plucky protagonists join forces with Little Red Riding Hood and her tamed wolves, Cinderella and her animal allies, to DARVO the would-be oppressors.

WomblingWoman · 04/09/2018 15:47

Maybe we should suggest some questions to the person interviewing AC at 5pm?

Trans people have faced "an assault on our basic rights" from within the Green Party in recent months including from senior Green Party officials. Says Aimee on the Coventry Headlines.

GO ON. WHICH RIGHTS ARE THESE???

How many people listen to this radio station?

thecatfromjapan · 04/09/2018 16:07

Ask about who in the GP knew about her father's charges and implicitly OKd it.

Just came across this on Twitter - so calls for the very new leaders to oust Caroline Lucas. Should be interesting.

And ask her if she feels that previous allies, like Amelia Womack, are now behaving opportunistically.

thecatfromjapan · 04/09/2018 16:17

Actually, I'd start with: 'Are you being scapegoated for failures and agendas in the Party. Aimee?' and then follow up with, 'So, you're saying you did tell other GP members about the charges your father was facing.'

RedToothBrush · 04/09/2018 16:19

DJ talking about Aimee saying that Aimee quit the party after using her Dad as an election agent (who was jailed for 22 years) whilst being aware he was charged with child sexual offences and they will be putting that to Aimee, along with her other issues about the green party being transphobic.

(I'm slightly paraphasing from a bad recording I made on my phone, but trying to be as accurate as possible about what was said).

I'm struck by the framing and emphasis the DJ has made already.

Will be interesting to see if he can stick to that angle or how Aimee twists it.

Lysistra

We can only hope they go the route of open protesting and campaigning, rather than behind-the-scenes lobbying.

Extraordinary.

RedToothBrush · 04/09/2018 16:24

Oooooo magically Aimee has unlocked their twitter account ahead of a radio interview.

A little bit of media attention and suddenly unlocked.

thecatfromjapan · 04/09/2018 16:24

Wonder if Stonewall are deciding to work faster on their severance and non-disclosure agreement?

arranfan · 04/09/2018 16:28

We can only hope they go the route of open protesting and campaigning, rather than behind-the-scenes lobbying.

The B2 Co-Leaders have been very quiet; it will be interesting to see how they lead the GP but I'm rather shocked by their lack of a Statement of Intent after the result was announced.

As for the calls to de-select Caroline Lucas or whatever - who knows how tiny but disproportionately vocal a handful of Green Party members that might be. A small number of the GP members voted in the recent party elections but if push came to shove and such a move were to be publicised, I should think sufficient members retain an affection for Caroline Lucas' long years of service that it would be voted down.

However, what would I know. I'd have hoped that the membership would have noticed what was being done to the GP's constitution and voted that down so my optimism makes me rubbish at predictions.

thecatfromjapan · 04/09/2018 16:28

By the way, worth remembering that Aimee was openly trying to get in touch with the Guardian journalist covering the GP story - via Twitter.

So I'm guessing this is the only exposure she's secured so far.

It must be very frustrating.

And as it becomes clearer that few outlets want Aimee's story - or the story she's prepared to give at the moment - I suspect Aimee is going to get more frustrated.

Charliethefeminist · 04/09/2018 16:35

That's quick for a BBC sob story broadcast. Expected at least a decent couple weeks wait. Victoria Derbyshire programme will be seething.

Aimee Challenor resigns over Green Party 'transphobia'

Speaking to BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, Ms Challenor denied her allegations were "sour grapes" resulting from her suspension.

"We have got to a point in the party where our messaging on trans rights is falling behind," she said.

"In recent months trans people within the party have faced a continuous stream of assaults on our basic rights and dignity."

Ms Challenor also criticised former party leader Caroline Lucas for agreeing to meet with campaign group Woman's Place UK.

She described the group, which campaigns against proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act, as a "far-right transphobic hate group".

It says it is against all forms of discrimination.

Writing about the suspension in The Guardian, Ms Lucas urged people to find "a way through the current debate about trans rights that's respectful of one another and the facts".

Ms Challenor, 20, pulled out of the party's deputy leader race last week.

The Green Party then announced it had suspended her on a no-fault basis while an investigation took place.

Ms Challenor's father David had acted as an election agent at the 2017 General Election and local elections in May, despite being charged with child rape in November 2016, according to West Midlands Police.

He was jailed for 22 years at Warwick Crown Court, where he was found guilty of 20 offences including the rape of a 10-year-old girl.

Anyone unfamiliar with the ongoing debate over trans rights, who reads this article in isolation is going to come away going WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

And this is the BBC.

thecatfromjapan · 04/09/2018 16:45

The BBC coverage is poor. Very poor.

But a few of the listeners saying: 'WTF?' are going to be GP voters wondering what this has to do with trad. green issues.

It's damaging for the GP.

Watch and learn, other political Parties. Watch and learn.

R0wantrees · 04/09/2018 16:48

calls for the very new leaders to oust Caroline Lucas. Should be interesting.

I think it was established that in the Green Party the Executive hold power rather than the co-leaders?

"In recent months trans people within the party have faced a continuous stream of assaults on our basic rights and dignity."

This, sadly is the statement which needs some scrutiny.

LangCleg · 04/09/2018 16:53

charges for serious sexual assault of a minor

And they still can't say charges involving paedophilia, including the torture and rape of a ten-year-old girl.

Cos, you know, their members tell them off on Twitter what with paedophilia being a proper sexual orientation an' all.

MipMipMip · 04/09/2018 16:54

I'm hoping someone is listening to the broadcast and can tell those of us planning to use catch up when they actually start talking to Aimee (these progs always have loads of stories). And please God let there be some listener reaction....

Coming up after this news bulletin apparently.

News reader calling DC’s crimes rape and torture, no minimising. Hopefully interviewer will keep to the same script.
