Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

So who is operating the TERFblocker account now?

Some of the replies on this are great though Grin I like the woman who can't conjugate the verb 'to be' castigating intelligent people for being Nazis and slavers.

As if any further evidence was needed of how you can NEVER do enough or be enough of an ally to TRAs.

Exactly. Having a huge tantrum and spitting your dummy out at the smallest sign of challenge, is what has turned so many women from allies into gender critical overnight.

pamish · 03/09/2018 18:08

Will Aimee arm-wrestle Dawn B to be the top guest speaker at this? They will be needing the comfort of their kind.

Mermaids conference this saturday 8th. A lot of key people are speaking about the GRA.

In the blurb for this conference. It says it is only open to people who are in "favour of self identification". But... 12 noon: Keynote speaker Dawn Butler, MP Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities. Should Butler attend such a conference?

"By booking a place at this event you agree that you are either trans* or an ally of the community and that you are in favour of self-declaration. Identities are not up for debate. This event aims to bring a community together to discuss health, education, safety."

Would anyone like to ID as a liar and go? I'll pay your £15....

Aimee is on a hiding to nothing if Aimee tries to paint the party as a shower of transphobes at this point.

The problem is Aimee is going full on Trumpian.

Thus if you are not one of the loyal you'll see it as it is. However if you are 'like Aimee' or 'believe like Aimee' you'll see this as a horrendous injustice and go even more stark raving bonkers.

The problem is that Aimee has never been challenged before; only affirmed, and told that affirmation is sacred. The idea Aimee can do any wrong, isn't in Aimee's psyche. Aimee just isn't equipped to handle this. In Aimee's world any criticism of Aimee is simply transphobia because thats how conditioned they have become.

'Being rational' or proportional or reflective of what's happened, simply is something Aimee is incapable of doing. Any criticism is taken at such a personal level as being a direct attack on identity rather being a criticism of actions. Aimee can not separate the two, such is the damage that a policy of affirmation only without question creates.

Its gross. It prevents the development of coping skills that are necessary for every day life.

This is going to crank up another notch before it gets better yet. Do not think this is a good result for the Greens and will make them relieved. It solves nothing.

TimeLady · 03/09/2018 18:13

If Aimee wants a proper job, maybe Aimee will need another name change. Wink Don't employers tend to google candidates these days?

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 03/09/2018 18:15

Apparently loads of TRAs are leaving the Greens because Caroline dared to say she was meeting a transphobic women's group.

Oh dear.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:16

I was going to type that, but I refrained but yes.

Does Aimee self identify as disabled? Perhaps Aimee could join Labour and push for that in the next Labour manifesto.

LangCleg · 03/09/2018 18:17

Do not think this is a good result for the Greens and will make them relieved.

I agree. To the watching world, which has just seen the Greens do almost anything to avoid actually confronting what has gone on, Aimee suddenly rewriting history to paint them as a bunch of irredeemable transphobes, is just going to look like yet more escalating levels of insanity. Which, of course, it is.

Where does this leave the Greens? They can't rush to reassure Aimee and Aimee's supporters because - well, the bleedin' obvious. They can't rush to defend themselves because affirmation.

They really are toast. Thoroughly deserved toast, if you ask me.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:18

Define 'loads'.
Whilst considering the applification effect.
You make it sound like it would be a bad thing for the Green Party.

The trouble is if they decide to decamp to either the LD or Labour and swell the TRA ranks there instead.

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:19

Please God don't let her join Labour. I think that might push me over my very fragile edge.

Popchyk · 03/09/2018 18:19

Not surprising.

AC is absolutely terrified about the investigation turning up all the things that AC wants to be kept hidden, and all the stuff that AC has already lied about. So the only option is to resign rather than be interviewed about that stuff.

Transparent.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/09/2018 18:19

Aimee apparently is a member of other green parties so will not join another E&W party as Aimee does not want to jeopardise these memberships. Aimee also believes that if she is not a party member she can work for trans rights across all parties.

If nothing else it's a useful demonstration of the modus operandi at play.

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 03/09/2018 18:20

Define 'loads'.

Hard to say.

Could be 3 but identify as thousands.

One got 'deadnamed' as they left, because the membership referred to them in the name they originally registered under. Loads of people rushing to their emotional aid.

Destinysdaughter · 03/09/2018 18:20

Aimee is so full of shit. Everything is bloody transphobic in their eyes!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/09/2018 18:20

Sorry, slipped some incorrect 'she's' in there - it's my social conditioning

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:21

The Greens are now left with an investigation with a great big hole in it having been caught out with their pants around their ankles taking a shit whilst trying to do to a crap impression of grown up PR slick politics.

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:21

Didn't quite a lot of the Corbyn Social Media possee arrive in Labour via the Green Party?

That's been a joy.

Surely Labour deserve only so much love and attention? It needs to be shared around a bit.

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:22

Grin RTB

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 03/09/2018 18:23

If AC isn't there to 'assist' then I am sure there will be several/thousands of us with screen shots all happy to share.

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:23

To be honest, I feel like crying too.

I honestly think we're seeing democratic processes and institutions melt and crumble like glaciers I. Global warming. This goes so much deeper than just one Party being a bit lax.

MsMcWoodle · 03/09/2018 18:24

Unbelievable that AC still seems to think they will be a great loss.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:25

Aimee apparently is a member of other green parties so will not join another E&W party as Aimee does not want to jeopardise these memberships. Aimee also believes that if she is not a party member she can work for trans rights across all parties.

Oh its like that is it??

Translation: I'm quitting. But not really quitting. I am just abusing the structure and set up of the party so I can influence policy, but I am out of reach of accountability.

I'm guessing that could well still end up being within the remit of Verita if they conclude that DC could do what he wanted by taking advantage of the lack of accountability within the party because of its flat structure...

Staying within the Green Umbrella, really does illustrate the point that the Green Party structure is appalling and open to abuse.

Destinysdaughter · 03/09/2018 18:26

But surely neither the Libs or Labour wd now touch AC with a bargepole?

Unless she has accrued Uber Martyr status from this..?

Popchyk · 03/09/2018 18:26

Problem is no organisation is going to want Aimee.

And Aimee doesn't have a proper job or anything.

Be interesting to see how Stonewall handle this. I reckon they will offer a decent sum of money in return for a quiet resignation and the signing of a non-disclosure agreement.

But AC is reckless enough to take the money and then decide to talk endlessly on Twitter about it anyway.

AC is a loose canon. Always will be.
