Previous thread here:

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

We're overdue a massive shakeup. A lot of our internal structures are still from our days as a much smaller party when most members knew each other on a personal level.
This has allowed some groupings within the party to gain prominence and shape the conversations we have at conference.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:31

Unbelievable that AC still seems to think they will be a great loss

That's 'rising star' Aimee to you, you mere irrelevant pleb who has never had a taste of 'Help I'm a Celebrity Politician'. Aimee has been set up and victimised by the Green Party production team. A career splashed all over trashy women's mags being stunning and brave awaits.

BettyDuMonde · 03/09/2018 18:35

Hey, GreenPartyResignation

Just wanted to say I read your post. I hear you.

I think you are super brave to write that email, considering all the feelings it stirs up.

It would’ve been totally understandable if you just quietly resigned/cancelled your DD, but you didn’t, you made your position clear and women and children thank you for your bravery.

Please do share your eventual proper response, if you feel able (although I totally get it if you decide never to open another GP email again)

Xx

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 03/09/2018 18:38

Might look at rejoining if the TRAs are leaving en masse Grin

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:40

BettyDuMonde

What a lovely post. I second it.

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 03/09/2018 18:41

Me too.

Destinysdaughter · 03/09/2018 18:48

Oh God just had a horrific thought of Aimee in the jungle on In a Celeb, endlessly chastising everyone for misgemdering them.

On a more positive note, I bet the Great British Public would endlessly vote them to do all the challenges.

I’d quite enjoy watching Aimee trying to eat live cockroaches and kangaroo bollocks...

More than a massive shakeup, I'd say. I will actually be quite surprised if the GP can survive this full stop. It's all such a massive mess. I'm saying that as someone who has voted for the Green Party in the past. Never again.

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 03/09/2018 18:51

Destiny.

Keep your thoughts to yersel in future.

k?

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:53

Celeb BB is currently in progress. They actively look for the least suitable person to handle public exposure and a popularity vote. Still time for a late entry.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:54

ponders referencing previous infamous Big Brother Hot Tub scenes

thecatfromjapan · 03/09/2018 18:54

Anybody else wondering what ry prompted that resignation?

BobHolness · 03/09/2018 18:56

gendercritter I think conference will be a big tell as to what future the GP has. AC has friends in high places still. Even though she's gone, they haven't.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:56

Anybody else wondering what ry prompted that resignation?

Honestly, I am thinking that I'd rather not.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 03/09/2018 19:03

There's a lot of stuff on Twitter now associated with AC's name that would ensure that nobody from any mainstream UK political party and no employer would contemplate having anything to do with AC for the foreseeable future if due diligence is actually done. I actually feel very sorry for AC because if what has been alleged is true AC's life was blighted from the start and it would take decades of therapy to get over what has happened. But that would require AC to understand that the way they have been brought up was abusive and abnormal in the extreme.

And Yet......

Stonewall.

Destinysdaughter · 03/09/2018 19:14

I would also feel sorry for AC.. if they hadn’t work so hard to silence women, call us ‘cunts’ and try to destroy safeguarding. There is a limit to my sympathy and compassion I’m afraid.

GreenPartyResignation · 03/09/2018 19:14

Thanks Betty, Cat, Schrodingers

To be fair I've pretty much dealt with the crap of my past, but I do get an emotional response to all this because really you don't experience years of male abuse and not know who is a man, and anyone who tells us that a man is a woman when we know they are not is basically fucking with our heads, which just replicates our experience of abuse.

I wanted them to know why I'd left, otherwise it didn't seem much of a statement. It's been great to have the solidarity of MN, but also good to know the GP are considering individual responses for anyone who has resigned but not said anything yet. I'm not brave enough to be out on SM but at least I've done something!

Fallingirl · 03/09/2018 19:18

I am honestly concerned that the Labour party brocialists might sanp up AC. It never ceases to amaze me just how much these dudebros are completely blind to.

I hope I’m wrong, and Labour is following the GP disaster closely, but I have learned not to trust misogynist men.

VickyEadie · 03/09/2018 19:18

I was reflecting earlier today on when I was 20 years old and realised that at that age, you still operate in a sort of childish, 'all that I think about is me' bubble a lot of the time.

This was to try and get my head around how very young, single-issue people get elevated to visible roles in politics and then behave like a feral incontinent dog in public - barking abuse on social media, shitting all over the place, expecting no-one to mind and others to clear it up and having absolutely no notion whatsoever of the concept of the consequences of one's actions.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 03/09/2018 19:22

At this point it might be for the best. I see the transwagon careering helplessly out of control. AC joining Labour would be the death knell for the whole thing and we could all go back to being SWERFS.

I would run from this legislation now Theresa. Run, run like the wind.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 03/09/2018 19:30

This worries me very much. As I see the current state of UK politics:

SNP - not great but probably in a slightly better state than Labour, so not likely to lose control of the Scottish Parliament any time soon.

Plaid and the NI parties - not competent to judge, but I gather the NI Assembly is in a dreadful mess

Greens - shitshow

UKIP - imploded, no loss

LibDems - more or less irrelevant

Labour - eating itself, throwing away what should be the easiest electoral advantage in history because of ideological idiocy

Tories - appalling record on austerity and Brexit but not in quite as bad a state as Labour

So our next election will almost certainly see the Tories back again. This is very, very depressing.

BobHolness · 03/09/2018 19:31

Just received a mealy-mouthed e-mail signed by Caroline Lucas and Jonathan Bartley (I'm skeptical how much input the latter contributed).

Caroline is likely breathing a sigh of relief that she's handing over the reins tomorrow.

TriptychTwins · 03/09/2018 19:35

Apparently loads of TRAs are leaving the Greens because Caroline dared to say she was meeting a transphobic women's group.

Bloody hell, if they all join Labour we'll have to start this all over again.

Not quite sure Lily could handle the competition to be fair. The oppression Olympics would be interesting though.

Datun · 03/09/2018 19:38

Quite frankly, the bigger profile that Aimee gets, the better. People simply won't be buying any of this. It's a shit show.

On the other hand, I have such misgivings about allowing an individual as damaged as this, to run riot.

I square it away by the end justifying the means.
