Previous thread here:

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

Seems like AC's and pals have been doing quite a bit of tinkering with the GP constitution.

New names
Doug Rouxel. A member of GPEX, Local Party Support
Emma Carter, A member of GPEX, acting chair following Clare Phipps' flounce,

and the usual suspects in Internal Communications and the aforementioned Clare Phipps (Green Women; , behind the non-men fiasco and the recent Open Letter.

High powered stuff. No wonder some of these names appear in Shahrah Ali's thread, telling him that it's not a good time to call for an examination of their finest.

WomblingWoman · 03/09/2018 14:25

Yes Pam - I did I bit of cross referencing as well.

Seems like a pretty tight knit cable of people - all chipping away at the GP's policies.

Looking at the motions proposed I think it's fair to say there's a direction of travel....

BobHolness · 03/09/2018 16:31

The amendment removing the power of summary expulsion of members convicted of serious crimes passed. The other 2 fell.

carceralfeminist · 03/09/2018 16:33

WTF?! That amendment passed?

arranfan · 03/09/2018 16:36

The amendment removing the power of summary expulsion of members convicted of serious crimes passed. The other 2 fell.

Shock But thank you for that information, BoBHolness

Well, retrospectively, the success of that amendment might be very useful to some members.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/09/2018 16:38

I think it's fair to ask why anyone would put forward such a specific amendment, and compare to the timeline in which Aimee is claiming not to have known the full extend of what David had been up to until the sentencing.

Also fair to ask if anyone in the GP has two brain cells to rub together.

WomblingWoman · 03/09/2018 16:45

If you look at Shahrar Ali's twitter (leadership candidate) I'd say he's coming out of this pretty well and certainly as someone who's keen to investigate the issues fully.

twitter.com/shahrarali/status/1036201308494147584?s=21

What's bizarre is that flak he's getting from some members for doing so.

BobHolness · 03/09/2018 16:46

AngryAttackKittens There are plenty of us with brain cells. However there is a massive clique problem within the GPEW.

I'm hoping Shahrar has beaten the odds and is announced as our new leader tomorrow.

arranfan · 03/09/2018 16:49

BobHolness - I admire Shahrar Ali for the moral leadership shown, his RT of lostinfife's statement, and his own Open Letter.

I mentioned your confirmation of the amendment passing here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3354456-How-Political-Parties-Should-Support-Victims-When-A-Member-Is-Involved

CesiraAndEnrico · 03/09/2018 16:53

I'm hot, tired and in an airport full of equally hot, tired people. Who are grumpy and shouty. So brain befuddled.

Might the amendment it be useful for the visual web ? I can whack in a point for green party constitution. How would you summarise the relevance of the amendment, given timings etc. Got to make it short, to the point, but info rich. It's getting crowded and little white space left.

WomblingWoman · 03/09/2018 17:03

Cesira - I posted this on another thread but I think the requested policy amendments are relevant because...

The more I think about it, the TRA twitter tactics and the infiltration of the GP have a lot in common. In terms of the former, use technology to amplify your ideology and silence concerns re: the latter slowly chip away at membership policy protections to deter/prevent questions.

--

In light of what Bob has just posted these amendments also had the potential to protect the GPEW clique. Is all part of the same MO imho.

WomblingWoman · 03/09/2018 17:04

Sorry god knows what happened there re: format Blush

BobHolness · 03/09/2018 17:19

A lot of our members are oldschool and don't really use social media.

Did the DC revelations make it into the print versions of the national papers where it appeared?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/09/2018 17:34

Aimee has resigned from the green party as it is too transphobic....

Green Party thread 3
VickyEadie · 03/09/2018 17:42

Here - was that the sound of the Green party leadership uttering a collective massive sigh of relief there?

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 17:45

Can't be kicked out of the party if you resign first. Also you get to play the victim.

Also a question about whether Aimee's role can be investigated if Aimee has left the party. Verita won't have Aimee's full cooperation now will they? So much for all the talk of that. Easier to just go into full on victim mode than be held accountable for actions.

The question is if Aimee really thinks this is transphobia, will Aimee be launching a discrimination case against the Green Party?

One can hope, but I suspect there won't be. Just hot air about 'wah it's not fair'.

Aimee will not be rejoining the party, anytime either despite what's said there. That ship has sailed, as has Aimee's political career.

I guess Aimee will be looking for gainful full time employment and an alternative career plan.

I can't say I remotely surprised.

Ugggg · 03/09/2018 17:49

Well if Aimee thinks the Green Party isn't what it was, there may be hope for it then.

Floisme · 03/09/2018 17:50

a question about whether Aimee’s role can be investigated if Aimee has left the party. Verita won't have Aimee's full cooperation now will they?
That’s just what I was thinking. I think Aimee is on the record as stating they would co-operate with the investigation. Now there is no need to.

LangCleg · 03/09/2018 17:55

WPUK, a set of actually socialist women, a far-right group? Oh dear. Aimee wouldn't know actual left wing politics if they got up and did a special socialist dance.

Can't be kicked out of the party if you resign first. Also you get to play the victim.

Exactly. Helps if you don't go with the most ludicrous hyperbole, though. The entire country has seen that the Greens have had to be dragged kicking and screaming into any action at all. Aimee is on a hiding to nothing if Aimee tries to paint the party as a shower of transphobes at this point.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 03/09/2018 17:55

As if any further evidence was needed of how you can NEVER do enough or be enough of an ally to TRAs.

I hope the other parties are watching. Looking at Labour and the Conservatives here. This is what you are selling your principles out for.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 17:56

I wonder if Aimee will try to join Labour or the LDs.

TimeLady · 03/09/2018 17:57

Presumably Aimee forfeits the role with Stonewall too..

ChiaraRimini · 03/09/2018 17:58

Good to see Aimee re-affirming her commitment to social and environmental justice, would love to know what she had ever done for any cause other than trans rights?

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2018 18:01

No investigation into Aimee and Stonewall aren't compelled to get rid.

heresyandwitchcraft · 03/09/2018 18:03

Interesting. I suppose that Gruaniad public statement may come in handy now for Caroline Lucas.
