I actually can't believe the house in which the crime took place is STILL the address for Green Party membership in Coventry.

(Just seen this on Twitter. Can it be true?)

I really think the Green Party are hoping this is all going to pass under the radar and they can carry on with business as usual.

Amalfimamma · 25/08/2018 19:31

"thecatfromjapan" they changed it about 30 seconds after I posted the screen of it to their Twitter.

ToeToToe · 25/08/2018 19:32

People on twitter asking how much influence DC had on helping to shape the trans policy which I think really needs to be answered.

Absolutely.

This is scandalous.

I think even that Independent headline is a touch euphemistic - "played out sadomasochistic fantasies" - well yes, he raped and tortured a child with clips electric shocks, and whips - all while wearing a nappy and an adult sized girl's dress.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 19:32

Surely there's another GP associated person in Coventry whose house they could use where nobody in the house has a recent criminal conviction.

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:34

Angry I love your posts but why did you go there?

NameChangedAgain18 · 25/08/2018 19:35

It feels to me like they are trying to put child rape and torture in the same universe as alleged oft-mentioned, never - substantiated attacks on trans people. Am I going mad?

No, you’re not, that’s exactly how I read it. Rape, torture, child abuse - on a par with the “violence” of misgendering. David Challenor is not the only sick individual in the Green Party.

heartofgold · 25/08/2018 19:35

lol at all rights reversed :D

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 19:37

That's appallung, Amalfi.

They really aren't taking the rape and torture of a 10 year old very seriously, are they?

It looks very much as if the Challenors are actually quite significant figures in the Coventry Green Party, that the Challenors halve not got their heads around the gravity of what David Challenor has done, and consequently the Coventry Green Party is therefore in the same state of denial as the family.

At what point die the Green Party HQ step in to bring this dysfunction to a close?

Popchyk · 25/08/2018 19:38

Well-spotted, heart of gold.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 19:39

Go where? My question is why they didn't immediately change the address they listed in Coventry to that of any other party affiliated person who would be willing to have their address used the moment the conviction was announced (or ideally before). Why would they leave that as is till someone pointed it out on Twitter? Surely they have some sort of crisis management team that should be capable of thinking of this stuff.

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:40

I just want to say that I admire totally the girl and her relative who brought this to light and got Challenor rightly imprisoned for a very long time. You both deserve all our support and love. Flowers

ToeToToe · 25/08/2018 19:41

Just reading the twitter feed now. They are rightly getting a huge amount of very valid criticism.

One tweet:

How exactly will you be supporting Aimee? By lending a hand in Aimee's crusade to silence women and remove child safe-guarding perhaps?

One slightly less diplomatic, but I think describes the mood on twitter very well:

A GIRL OF 10 WAS SEXUALLY ABUSED AND RAPED BY A MEMBER OF THE PARTY - AND YOU THINK ITS OK TO SAY 'GENDER BASED VIOLENCE'??? YOU ARE AS FUCKING GUILTY YOU SICK FUCKS

Note the silence of the usual suspect Trans-activists. Quiet as mice, as with Jess Bradley.

Yes, placemats

Can we leave out the salacious statements?

I know it's difficult in a case like this but the perp might well be allowed to read this.

Popchyk · 25/08/2018 19:44

That is true, placemats.

Being able to see through the whole criminal proceedings (which seem to have taken 3 years) at such a young age is absolutely remarkable after the horrific abuse she suffered.

That is true courage.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 25/08/2018 19:45

Thank you popchyk
Yes Placemats I was serious.. I do have safe search on so maybe that's why but I get zero when I Google David Chanellor.

annandale · 25/08/2018 19:46

This is really difficult. How can we possibly say that a survivor of an abusive family can't be part of advixe about safeguarding? Surely this is just the sort of person who should be able to be involved, in the world in which personal authenticity hs more resonance than eg professional expertise?

On another thread people were saying how young Aimee Challoner is - well, Mhairi Black was 20 when she was elected an MP. Was she too young?

As an transphobe, i will say it - that being trans is in a huge number of cases a way of coping with a significant mental health issue. It's self medication for it in the way that some self medicate with alcohol (a lot of journalists and MPs do that). What happens when alcoholics advise on drug policy? Do we see them as personally authentic and valuable, or needing suppot and balancing voices when fixing policy?

Amalfimamma · 25/08/2018 19:47

While I may have given Aimee the benefit of the doubt about knowing what their father did after having seen the fb post from dcs other daughter, on the the news broke and Aimees posts from October 2015 I do believe that no benefit should be given and I've gone back to my original line of thinking.

Batteriesallgone · 25/08/2018 19:49

I’ve just googled him

Why is his connection to the Green Party not mentioned in the news reports?

I haven’t read them all but even the local Coventry article didn’t mention it.

Surely that link is in the public interest and should be reported?

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:52

Are you serious? It's not difficult at all. Perhaps Rose and Fred West's children who survived should be involved in in advice about safeguarding?

LadybirdsAreBirds · 25/08/2018 19:52

Annandale.

At the age of 20, whilst living with the perpetrator, having had no therapeutic intervention or professional training? Whilst making questionable choices as an adult to campaign to attack women, s boundaries?

No, not in Aimee Challenor ‘s case

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 19:53

I would like to know who/what organization is leaning on the newspapers to prevent them mentioning the connection, because normally they would.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 19:53

There's no two ways about this: the Green Party lent their reputation, without the checks that are the responsibility of a serious political Party, to an abuser - and effectively aided abuse.

I say that because there were 3 years between the investigation and the court case - during which I doubt he changed the fundamental mindset that enabled this crime and - despite 'innocent until proven guilty' - Safeguarding is there to prevent the possibility of harm.

hackmum · 25/08/2018 19:55

Placemats: It is odd, don't you think, that all Aimee's interventions on safeguarding were aimed at reducing or removing safeguarding controls rather than strengthening them?
