Well said Barracker

I notice the defence with regard to not knowing about anything regarding the case is now 'innocent until proven guilty'.

Really?

LadybirdsAreBirds · 25/08/2018 19:14

There’s a man on that thread who makes a good comment about the GP having to accept it may not bepossible to square trans rights “with the safeguarding of vulnerable people (children and adults)”

Great. But he couldn’t even bring himself to say the words women and girls

‘Gender based violence’ - fucking hell! Even writing this statement they cannot let go of their dogma. Glad to see that they are getting lots of criticism on Twitter.

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:16

People don’t need a DBS if they enter the school to give a talk and are never left alone with a child/ ren

Sorry? I question this. Absolutely.

TheFemaleGaze · 25/08/2018 19:16

Barracker
On one of the deleted threads, a poster discussed her abuse by a parent and how she discovered that her brother had been abused to during the investigation I think, even though they were living under the same roof. I don’t remember the poster’s name but it stuck with me.
🌷for that brave woman and her brother while I’m at it.

happydappy2 · 25/08/2018 19:16

Betty so true

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 19:17

'Innocent until proven guilty' isn't enough. You should have the common-sense to flag up anything with the potential to bring the Party (and you & your campaign) into disrepute. If you don't have that common-sense - for whatever reason (I can see why someone living with an abuser might not) - you have pretty much disqualified yourself from possession of the basic criteria to hold a responsible office.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 25/08/2018 19:18

Placemats. Will check. That’s my understanding

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 25/08/2018 19:18

There is a real, female, child victim, and she has had to watch her abuser and abuser's adult offspring living and working together in the house in which she was tortured, and building a political campaign from that house that involved silencing women and lobbying to remove child safeguarding. Whilst Challenor senior called her, the victim, a fantasist and the potential future deputy leader of the Green Party supported him.

^This! I was just so uncomfortable about AC and the Green Party’s stance on this, but this succinctly lays bare exactly what is wrong and dangerous about this. Thank you BarrackerBarmer

Amalfimamma · 25/08/2018 19:19

TwistedStitch

Before David's fb page disappeared the official line from. Family and friends was "he's innocent evidence was fabricated"

I repeat. That statement reads like Aimee wrote it to protect themself

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/08/2018 19:19

Greenfliesarenice · 25/08/2018 19:20

I remember a head teacher lost her job and ability to teach because her husband was convicted of child abuse despite her being entirely innocent. I'm sure it's in the DBS checks that you have to admit to any associations that may involve safeguarding issues.

I've not worked in education for a couple of years so my memory is a bit hazy but one of you will hopefully confirm if I'm correct.

Regardless, this whole case indicates massive red flags about Green Party safe guards.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 19:21

If no DBS is required to go into a school to give a talk , I think that makes the Green Psrty's role in this WAY more serious.

Any representative - along with ANYONE WHO WAS ACCOMPANYING THEM (say, a Campaign Manager) was there with the tacit understanding that the Green Party had conferred approbation and legitimacy upon them.

The schools would have every right to assume a legitimate Party (such as the Green Party) had run rudimentary checks.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 25/08/2018 19:21

I don't know the details of this case and have been searching but nothing comes up other than a deleted MN thread. Sorry, but is it possible to explain what happened? I can find multiple search results about A.C but nothing else.

TwistedStitch · 25/08/2018 19:23

Thanks Amalfimamma, I didn't see that FB page. From what I've read, evidence included photographs and was pretty overwhelming.

People on twitter asking how much influence DC had on helping to shape the trans policy which I think really needs to be answered.

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:23

Betty that's a nice post but seriously I think money in the Green Party could be better spent elsewhere.

It's not just the 21 year old who is affected but all the siblings. Perhaps this person should be seeking help elsewhere other than the Green Party.

The Green Party need to take a good look at themselves and reorganise.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 19:23

Agree with catfromjapan. Anyone who doesn't have sufficient judgement to realize that they should have disclosed is not suited to the position that Aimee is in. Whoever it is within the party who's sponsoring/mentoring Aimee also has some explaining to do.

VickyEadie · 25/08/2018 19:23

People don’t need a DBS if they enter the school to give a talk and are never left alone with a child/ ren

Some schools ask for one, some don't.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 25/08/2018 19:25

Placemats

So it’s a little woolly but for one off events where there is no contact with children without a supervising adults, dbs not required. I am not sure if that is the capacity in which DC was in schools though

Amalfimamma · 25/08/2018 19:25

TwistedStitch I've been asking that for days.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 25/08/2018 19:26

... that is my local education authority.

Bienchen · 25/08/2018 19:28

Thank you Barracker; it really is time to take a close look at this, Mumsnet HQ.

placemats · 25/08/2018 19:28

Ifnotnowthenwhen

Are you serious?

Google David Challenor.

I've just done that and I've come up with the horrific news reports.
