Sexual exploitation of young girls in Huddersfield - again?

Just seen this story. Is this one of the three linked trials that are ongoing or is it an entirely new investigation that’s now coming to court?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6062349/Thirty-men-woman-charged-sexual-exploitation-girls-young-12.html

I suspect we will see the usual rhetoric about working class girls being worth nothing in the eyes of the law.

I believe that this is the "fall-out" from the original trial.

The original accuseds prostituted the young women. They were taken to houses and kept there, often drugged. The men who raped them now face trials. I'm guessing that the women who have been charged knew what was going on and acted as "jailers" or turned a blind eye..

and are blamed for putting themselves in harm's way

A very good friend of mine used to work in children’s homes and has spent thousands of soul destroying hours retrieving children from houses and situations like this, our in the middle of the night to pick up kids who have been dumped places, and battling authorities who insist the girls are there of their own free will - 13 year olds. It’s sickening. Utterly sickening.

And I think it’s been going on a long time - men used to cruise past our local chippy and pick girls up at lunch times in their school uniform. This was early 90s.

So widespread. Just horrifying.

I shake my head in horror and despair, and hold the victims in my heart.

Hear hear heresy.

trickyboots · 15/08/2018 12:43

Im hearing this is increasingly big business for organised crime. I'm told that children frequently want to go back to the gangs even if removed from the area. It's what they know, who they know, back to the drink and drugs. I often think in just a couple of years time, they will mature further and they will look back and realise they were ritually abused. If lucky enough to escape/ start again, a lifetime of healing will then need to commence. It is heartbreaking.

StylishMummy · 15/08/2018 12:45

3 girls was an awful watch but portrayed those in the situation brilliantly. Absolutely terrifying

daughterofanarchy · 15/08/2018 14:45

There is a problem with grooming and it is rife in certain ethnic communities. I have witnessed it first hand as it happened to a friend of mine when we were teenagers. She was groomed by a group of men, and passed around their social circle. It ruined her. The care system failed her. To this day she cannot have a relationship with a decent man because her experiences have left her with such low self esteem, that she still thinks being beaten and assaulted are something she deserves.

TheQueef · 15/08/2018 14:49

30 rapers is a lot for a small town like Huddersfield.

Poor lasses.

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 15/08/2018 15:01

That's not the half of it.

TheAlchemist101 · 15/08/2018 15:07

Sadly one raising safeguarding issues is a lot of box ticking and little action with agencies reluctant to act against adults despite overwhelming evidence

TheAlchemist101 · 15/08/2018 15:07

IME not one!

Her0utdoors · 15/08/2018 15:11

Girls, not 'young girls'.
Sickening.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/08/2018 15:23

I'm sure "lessons will be learned" and we'll have a whole load of new cases in the papers in a couple of years.

Bottom line is it's considered fairly normal even in our society for men to be interested in girls once their bodies start changing,
And too many men are prepared to act on it.

The nature of these gangs - the grooming, the scale, the passing around, the violence is a thing all to itself though and that this was not tackled for fear of racism is just fucking appalling. That was enhanced by the fact that very few people were interested- seeing these girls as "off the rails" etc. It is misogyny that assumes adult motivations and decision making to female children in these circs. What makes me angry is when racist people suddenly have a massive concern for girls safety and happiness, while simultaneously turning a blind eye when it's one of "them" who's up to no good with underage girls.

Hoppinggreen · 15/08/2018 15:24

This is my home town and unfortunately a distant family member had this happen to her
She has SN and was groomed and then raped - sadly she refused to believe she wasn’t raped as the man involved was her “boyfriend who loved her” and took her shopping to Top Shop for a new outfit afterwards.
It only came to light because she was waiting for a bus a few days later and the man pulled up in his car with a load of his friends nd asked her to get in. Luckily a lady at the bus stop realised something wasnt right and prevented her from getting in the car. The men got out and started being aggressive so another lady began to film them so they drove off and the 2 ladies insisted on calling the girls Mum who called the police
The Police were very good actually and said that they knew the men and would be pushing for rape as the girl wasn’t capable of consent. However CPS refused as she wouldn’t cooperate and kept insisting the man was her boyfriend and was actually Italian not Asian at all. I understand that the men were warned off by The Police though
The girl concerned is from a nice MC family, although due to her SN she doesn’t necessarily present as such so would have seemed vulnerable ( which she is) and I wonder how good the police would have been if she was from a children’s home or similar
Gangs of men like this have been part of our Town and the next one over for many many years, they were around when I was a teen and we knew to avoid them but they usually have money and flash cars and I can see how some girls would be impressed. My DD is 13 and it’s something I’m very very aware of when she’s in Town without me. There are areas she isn’t allowed to go sadly

gendercritter · 15/08/2018 15:32

That's awful, Hopping.

We need to keep talking about these men. I am quite sure these crimes are still going on up and down the country. It's a shame 'intersectional' feminists aren't as passionate about this cause as other ones.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 15/08/2018 15:37

This comes as no surprise, sadly. How certain people can be outraged by this then see no problem with males freely accessing female spaces makes me want to scream and weep in equal measures.

Males are a danger to females, and the more vulnerable the female is (via age or other circumstances) the more danger she is at risk of. There will always be males who see opportunities to sexually harm females and use those opportunities.

Sorry to hear about your young relative Hoppinggreen.

TheQueef · 15/08/2018 15:50

It's happening Every. Single. Night.

I live close to Rotherham, across from me is an industrial estate and a few discrete car parks.
It has always been a 'beat' for sex workers but the last 20 years has been a hot spot for 'chilling' in cars with girls.

There is an occasional patrol, on the whole it's always happening, they don't stop.

LangCleg · 15/08/2018 16:16

I have a cousin recently retired from social work who says exactly the same thing.

At least now, we are actually recognising this as a crime. Because it's going on at industrial rates.

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/08/2018 16:37

Why isn't there an outcry and some kind of national inquiry into why this behaviour from men towards vulnerable girls/women is so widespread? It's an epidemic and thousands of girls and women are being traumatised and suffering as a result.

(I know what the answer is to this, but today I am beyond angry about the treatment of girls/women by men)

ABitCrapper · 15/08/2018 16:40

I thought social workers were "the authorities"! Who is overruling them to say it's not a concern?!

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/08/2018 16:41

Perhaps the police and the courts?

placemats · 15/08/2018 16:42

It's endemic in this country. These cases just about scrape the surface.
