Jess really seems to have gone to ground.

Good for Rose of Dawn & others for shining a light on the lack of response around this.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 06/09/2018 23:39

I checked Jess' twitter and "she" has been tweeting away as though everything is normal. It is all a bit strange.

boatyardblues · 07/09/2018 06:47

I stand corrected. (Am not on Twitter.)

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 07/09/2018 10:03

There's no activity on 'NUS Trans Campaign ' on twitter since 20th July, although, amusingly on the 19th July there is the tweet:

"Our amazing NUS Trans Officer @JBPersonalBrand talked today to @SkyNews about the Gender Recognition Act #GRA"

It takes some brass balls to describe yourself in the 3rd person on a tweet as 'amazing'. What breathtaking narcissism!

R0wantrees · 07/09/2018 10:53

"Our amazing NUS Trans Officer @JBPersonalBrand talked today to @SkyNews about the Gender Recognition Act #GRA"

This was when Jess Bradley said there was no such thing as a real women.

I presume that Jess Bradley / NUS LGBT+/ Action for TRans Health / TELI were amongst those who complained about Jenni Murray's article from the Sunday Times last year (which led to her public censure by the BBC)

'Be trans, be proud — but don’t call yourself a “real woman”
Can someone who has lived as a man, with all the privilege that entails, really lay claim to womanhood? It takes more than a sex change and make-up'

(extract)
"Equally, I’m appalled at the repulsive misogyny evident in the response of trans activists who have accused Nimko Ali, a Somali and a courageous campaigner against female genital mutilation, of “practising white feminism” or who have demanded the “no platforming” (banning from speaking in public) of women, such as the lesbian feminist Julie Bindel, who have questioned the claims of trans women to be real women. But my concern, which I know is shared by numerous women who are now to be known as “cis” (short for “cisgender” — natural-born women, in the language that’s more familiar to most of us), is for the impact this question of what constitutes “a real woman” will have on sexual politics. And for who has the right to be included in gatherings or organisations that are defined as single sex.
The first time I felt anger when a man claimed to have become a woman was in December 2000, when the Rev Peter Stone announced he had undergone the radical surgery to transition from male to female and was now called Carol. Her primary concerns, she told me, were finding the most suitable dress in which to meet her parishioners in her new persona and deciding if she should wear make-up or not.

Her transition had taken place a mere six years after the Church of England ordained the first 32 women priests, at a time when the idea of a female bishop was still regarded as impossible and when parishes were allowed to refuse a female vicar if there were objections.

I remember asking Carol what she owed those women who had struggled for so long to have their calling to the priesthood acted upon. His calling, as a man, had never been questioned. I had nothing but a blank look and more concerns about clothing. “I know it sounds silly,” she said. “But I’ve nothing to wear.”

Too right it sounded silly. I thought of all those women who had spent years and years challenging what being female had meant as they sat in the pews on a Sunday morning: 2,000 years of institutionalised patriarchy; no woman but a virgin mother and a handful of tortured saints to look up to; women only good for refreshing the flowers, raising the kids and making tea for the vicar." But I don't think they should have...

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 08/09/2018 01:12

Well of course Ms Bradley is going to complain about penis stickers in toilets.

All of us are unhappy when technology replaces authenticity. There is Ms Bradley, doing the artisan thing and exposing their real willy, and someone comes along and makes a mockery of their hard work with mass-produced stickers.

It's like the difference between a real cafe and Starbucks. No wonder they're getting the hump.

Vickyyyy · 08/09/2018 01:26

Yeah, real lack of respect for cleaners (usually female) putting cartoon penis stickers around (lets not pretend anyone believes the razor blade story eh. Thats just daft) ..unlike flashing your very real cock around willy nilly

Rose of Dawn on violent trans-activism:

"Radical far-left activists often co-opt unrelated movements to enforce their ideology on others. Here, I take a look at this phenomenon taking place in the trans community."

April 2018 Helen Lewis article, New Statesman: 'The madness of our gender debate, where feminists defend slapping a 60-year-old woman'

(extract)
"You would have thought that a feminist getting punched in the face would be reasonably large news – particularly if her attacker had boasted online earlier of wanting to “fuck up” some feminists, comparing them to fascists. But the conviction of the person who attacked 60-year-old Maria MacLachlan at Speakers’ Corner last year didn’t trouble the pages of the Guardian, where I would normally expect to hear about something that veers close to being a hate crime, or the LGBT website Pink News. Why? A clue comes in the fact that MacLachlan was slapped by a 26-year-old transgender woman called Tara Wolf, who explained to the court that MacLachlan was a “TERF” – a term commonly used to stand for “trans exclusionary radical feminist”, ie one who doesn’t believe that trans women are “real” women, but which Wolf defined as a “trans exterminatory radical feminist”.

The implication was that MacLachlan, now 61, wants all transgender people dead – something that seems absolutely barking until you realise this is quite a common accusation in activist spaces. The feminist group Sisters Uncut, which has done great work protesting the closure of domestic violence services, somehow looked at the case and decided that Wolf was the real victim. It used a hashtag – #freetheshewolf – and called for a protest outside Hendon Magistrates’ Court, asking for support for a “trans woman targeted… and harassed by TERFs, transmisogynists and cops”, adding: “Attacks on trans lives will not be tolerated.” (continues)

"The Wolf affair also demonstrates another alarming phenomenon: the left getting high on its own supply of self-righteousness. “Some feminists have a different conception of gender to me” gets smudged into “some feminists talk about me in ways that I find offensive” and on to “some feminists are basically Hitler, trying to eradicate people like me”.

Once you reach the last statement, then of course you can slap a woman and still think of yourself as a good person. She wants to kill you; a mere punch is self-defence. (I’m not exaggerating about the language. The Edinburgh branch of Action for Trans Health tweeted the day after the attack: “Punching TERFs is the same as punching Nazis. Fascism must be smashed with the greatest violence to ensure our collective liberation from it.”) (continues)

Jess 'won't somebody think of the cleaners' oh so considerately smearing their own blood around on a previous protest.
Bet the cleaners really appreciated this.

cf the condemnation of protest at Pride London by 'Get the L Out' with Jess Bradley's involvement with protest at Pride Manchester 2016
(extract)
"A statement released by Direct Action argued that trans prisoners that are sentenced to jail are sent to the prisons of the wrong gender. They referenced the cases of Tara Hudson, Vicky Thompson and Joanne Latham who were female prisoners sent to male prisons. "Trans people within the prison population are often housed within prison facilities of the wrong gender. Recently we have seen the cases of Tara Hudson, Vicky Thompson and Joanne Latham, trans women incarcerated within male prisons, in the news." "We believe that police officers, regardless of their own sexuality or gender identity, are complicit in the prison system's degradation of human lives and the oppression of LGBTQ people." Jess Bradley, one of the participants in the protest, said: "We have taken action in solidarity with trans and queer prisoners and against the building of a new US-style prison in Manchester."

Statement:

10 Sep 2018 15:43
Sticker claims - Manchester Oxford Road
British Transport Police (BTP) were made aware of a tweet – dated 5 September – stating that stickers, with razor blades behind them, were put up in the toilets of Manchester Oxford Road train station.

Officers have attended the station to investigate this claim and have confirmed there is no evidence of this.

BTP has a tried and tested system in place for dealing with hoaxes designed to cause minimum disruption whilst ensuring the safety of members of the public and rail staff.

Nevertheless, hoaxers waste considerable police time and divert our much-needed resources from other duties. We will continue to monitor the situation and will take further action should this malicious activity continue."

Just because I don't want this name to slip under the radar, an evening bump for this thread. Smile waves to Jess - we haven't forgotten.

Freshers week is imminent. Exciting times.

My breath is baited.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 14/09/2018 18:30

So is Jess Bradley still suspended? I wonder what is going on?

BettyDuMonde · 14/09/2018 18:41

Will be interesting to see if Bradley and chums turn up to protest at the We Need to Talk event.

I will call my Hells Angels contacts if they do Grin

We're not going to forget, Jess and friends 🐘

stickersthatstick · 14/09/2018 19:33

Shouldn't we be reporting him to the police?

I only found put yesterday - even cartoon depictions of children being raped are illegal. (Read that in an article by Jane Fae).

So he has committed a crime.

The NUS surely have a duty to report it. I wonder if they have... Hmm

What's to stop one of us reporting it? It's a crime.

stickersthatstick · 14/09/2018 19:34

Who is it you report images of child abuse to? There's a special department isn't there.

R0wantrees · 17/09/2018 11:52

NUS investigation into Jess Bradley allegations is still ongoing and apparently none of the full-time NUS Officers are allowed to comment.

(Rob Noon is NUS LGBT+ Open Place Officer, a transman and very close to Jess Bradley)
