Personally, I am not going to go hunting for a NAMBLA connection...

I do recall that there was a VERY tenuous link between ATH and MESMAC Yorkshire (the charity that was hit with a sex-abuse scandal) was proposed at some point in this thread, because ATH used the MESMAC offices for meetings?

Leeds

After Jess and Loz ran a training day at the University of Leeds in the Summer of 2015, The Leeds Chapter of Action for Trans Health started meeting at Mesmac from September 2015 on a monthly basis.

The post about ATH travel fund suggests it is for Trans Femminine. Can they do that? Exclude trans masculine?

Roseformeplease · 06/08/2018 16:58

Sorry, my typing error. Feminine

BettyDuMonde · 06/08/2018 17:05

www.crowdfunder.co.uk/travel-bursary-for-trans-feminine-people/

Crowdfunded very clearly says transfeminine.

Roseformeplease · 06/08/2018 17:10

Are they, perhaps, suggesting that trans men are not in need of support? Misogyny in action......

Ereshkigal · 06/08/2018 17:19

Is that the Travis Alabanza one or a different one?

R0wantrees · 06/08/2018 17:20

Its interesting isn't it?
It would likely be deemed exclusionary to have a busary for females and exclude trans women, but it is possible to have a bursary specifically for male-born trans people whose identity is 'femme' excluding female born people who are transgender who may well also have similar vulnerabilities with regards transport (as well of course as excluding those females whose identity is not transgender)

New Rose of Dawn video - haven’t watched it yet but she is pretty annoyed about the radio silence re: JB from associated orgs and personalities.

heresyandwitchcraft · 06/08/2018 20:29

Betty I was just going to do the same thing! I think R0wan posted this upthread but I just watched it.

I cannot recommend it enough. Cool-headed, well-written and thorough, and at this time such a vital reminder that Jess really doesn't speak for or represent all trans women. And very brave of Rose of Dawn to do a video on this important topic... Thanks Rose, if you read Mumsnet.
I am going to do my best not to let these allegations against Jess Bradley tarnish my opinions of trans people (or even all trans activists - despite my problems with their ideology)...

I just have very many questions about all of this...

BettyDuMonde · 06/08/2018 20:38

R0 and I are both established fans of Rose of Dawn so I’m not surprised R0 posted first (apologies for not noticing though).

Rose of Dawn seems to have had (very reasonable) doubts about JB’s motivations long before the whistleblower went public - not easy to speak out in this climate and well appreciated!

Rose of Dawn - if you read these boards, please give us a sign? 😘

R0wantrees · 06/08/2018 21:06

Absolutely agree Betty, it seems such a shame that whilst Jess Bradley, Lily Madigan, Aimee Challoner, Munroe Bergdorf etc enjoy so much media and political access Rose seems to have none of this despite being eloquent, intelligent and nuanced!

Did we link to this Jess Bradley AMA on Reddit? I'll stick it here in case it was missed.

This is when Jess Bradley were running for election last year for first paid Trans officer in the NUS.

reddit link

Apparently JB claims to have trained hundreds of doctors and nurses on trans issues. And, as co-founder of TELI, they are looking for legal cases in sports for TELI to take on, apparently.

reddit 2

"We are actively seeking people who wish to litigate on a whole host of issues, including around gender recognition. I hope to be able to provide a link between students who might be in need of legal support and the lawyers themselves".

MipMipMip · 06/08/2018 22:04

"The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names" just quoted by Sandi Tokvig on QI.

Hey, weirdly I can't find parts one or two. Does anyone have them and would send them to me as a message? Thanks.

Also Jess Bradley not coming up when I search on mobile site?

Melamin · 06/08/2018 22:21

"Would say an important area for this particular inquiry is how general health care is letting LGBT communities down and failing to meet legal duties as per the women and Equalities select committee trans inquiry report. The health inequalities trans (LGBT+) people face across UK"

About Health and Social care LGBT inquiry

Melamin · 06/08/2018 22:31

Sorry - ignore that - I read it the wrong way, due to the lack of commas.

TimeLady · 07/08/2018 07:45

Excellent video by Rose of Dawn.

I'm still bemused by the Jess /Josh/Joshua variations in the Companies House records.

Looking at the incorporation document for the company they set up earlier this year, Manchester in Common,

beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11416210/filing-history

Bradley's entry is as Mx Jess Bradley, even though it clearly states alongside that re. former names
Please provide any previous names (including maiden or married names) which have been used for business purposes in the last 20 years

Given the Jess/Joshua dead-naming situation with the NUS directorship just a few months before, I'm surprised that Bradley opted for Jess again: they can hardly claim to be unaware of the need for accuracy . On the ATH incorporation doc from 2014, they're registered as Mx Josh.

Paper trails are important. This is a handwritten document, so not a typo.

Did you notice in the Reddit thread linked that Jess Bradley says,

"Ive found the junior doctor picket lines an excellent place to get doctors interested in learning about trans healthcare"

I was wondering about whether Jess Bradley was thinking about any particular doctors they had met on picket lines and whether there were especially 'excellent' opportunities with the junior doctors who had been to Manchester University and other hospitals in the NW?

Popchyk · 07/08/2018 15:13

Didn't notice that bit, R0wan.

What is clear is that JB is hugely invested in transgender lobbying. And has been for a few years.

Which is why I don't see JB quietly resigning and giving up all their roles. They just don't seem the type to me, unless the various details of names and dates of birth on official documents is the tip of the iceberg and they risk criminal charges. The threat of that might just persuade JB to go quietly.

I imagine JB is reflecting on the deafening silence from JB's inspirational staunch allies and colleagues who feted JB in public previously. And JB might be deciding whether any confidential information on them can be used to JB's benefit. Wouldn't surprise me.

heresyandwitchcraft · 07/08/2018 15:18

What I still don't understand is how did JB became a healthcare expert? All of her official academic career seems to be in Environmental Science, I thought?

Popchyk · 07/08/2018 15:19

Self-identified healthcare expert, heresy.

That's all it takes to advise the government.
