Again Wittig an odd figure to cite in a feminist forum, since Wittig broke with the feminist movement and is an outsider figure at best:
“Eventually, Wittig broke from the Mouvement and went to the United States. Her problem was this: she did not believe in the concept of "woman" - as in women's studies, the women's movement, or even in the theoretical style of writing écriture féminine, identified by her compatriots Hélène Cixous and Cathérine Clement. www.theguardian.com/news/2003/feb/05/guardianobituaries.books
Wittig was a theorist, nothing more, a controversial theorist, her arguments (not facts) are part of a branch of theories on gender, they are not some form of scripture or holy lore that all who speak about women have to adhere to…The fact that she has recently been ‘rehabilitated’ in the sphere of queer theory is irrelevant to this debate. Perhaps you should Google ‘Arguments against Wittig’s arguments against Monique Wittig's “One is not born a woman”, you will find there the many essays/articles arguing against her position.
Also your latest quote from the charming mass-murder and totalitarian leader Mao Zedong, is at least useful as it reinstates men and women as a category. I think you would find that given that Mao's regime would be a rather less sympathetic place than you obviously think.
