Yetanother Wittig started like that but then broke with Cixous et al and took a more 'radical' stance, it's this phase of her thinking that is popular in Queer Theory.

VickyEadie · 30/07/2018 16:09

This just seems such a gift to the gender critical cause that I fear it may be a plant. How stupid or arrogant do you need to be to have managed the achieve the level of influence Jess had and yet maintain a blog like that which could destroy everything if uncovered?

More like the plain fact - and you see evidence of male-bodied people in all walks of life doing this - that the person concerned couldn't stop themselves and (more to the point) doesn't think there's anything wrong with doing it.

Dottierichardson · 30/07/2018 16:10

Anthony Weiner? Joe Barton? Does happen.

Floisme · 30/07/2018 16:11

It could be a plant. But if it is, what remains interesting is that either Bradley or the NUS would be concerned enough to hire such a big hitting law firm when they presumably they already had access to perfectly adequate legal advice.

That and the comical desperation of those trying to derail this thread.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/07/2018 16:15

Can't keep up!

Did Skeptic really call Bowl a eugenicist?!?

LangCleg · 30/07/2018 16:17

Fionne said...

If we don't address male pattern abuse it transitions with us.

This is our point. This is Fionne's point. This is the whistleblower's point. This is the point. If you're trying to deflect from this point, you are the problem.

I don't need to talk about the Yoruba having a less sexist society than the one I live in more than a thousand years later. I want to prevent male pattern abuse being brought into women's spaces today.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 30/07/2018 16:19

Did Skeptic really call Bowl a eugenicist?!?

Yes. And Skeptic still hasn't explained how the non-sexist Yoruba knew who to perform FGM on.

sanluca · 30/07/2018 16:21

Wow, that made interesting reading. Just placemarking to keep up.

titchy · 30/07/2018 16:29

Skeptic also hasn't suggested which loos and changing rooms Jess should now use.

VickyEadie · 30/07/2018 16:34

Skeptic also hasn't suggested which loos and changing rooms Jess should now use.

Which is kinda the point of this thread, really. In a sort of nutshell.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/07/2018 16:36

Grin Grounds for a banhammering, I'd have thought. Will be interesting to see if Skeptic makes any further appearances

AngryAttackKittens · 30/07/2018 16:36

The reason the Yoruba thing is a derail, for those following along at home, is that as wonderful it is if they have a radically less sexist society than the one we live in now we aren't living in that radically less sexist society. In a society like that flashing probably wouldn't be a thing, because if men saw women as their equals why would they do that?

We cannot make our society into a society like that by pretending that the sexism in our society doesn't exist, or that men as a group are not a danger to women as a group. Pretending that Jess Bradley's penis is a vagina won't get us there.

Kyanite · 30/07/2018 16:37

Exposure is a criminal offence only men can commit, so would they get off if they ID as a woman?

AngryAttackKittens · 30/07/2018 16:38

Have any TRAs been banned under the new rules, other than J4Nice or whatever that lovely individual was called?

AltogetherAndrews · 30/07/2018 16:40

How stupid or arrogant do you need to be to have managed the achieve the level of influence Jess had and yet maintain a blog like that which could destroy everything if uncovered?

Suggests to me that the behaviour displayed on the blog is not optional to them. So the fetish for exposure whilst dressed in feminine clothing is the entirety of the “identity.” If is wasn’t so important to them, you would think that they might pause and think before jeopardising their career so publically.

Shows how tricky it is to distinguish between the disphoric and the fetishist in practice really, and how little consideration those who support self id have given to this problem.

LineRunner · 30/07/2018 16:42

I assume prepubescent children aren't girls, and women on certain kinds of birth control, or pregnant women, or post menopausal women aren't women either?

Please don't try to hijack my hysterectomy, GenderSkeptik. it's a terribly dreary form of illogical misogyny, and a poor show tbh.

VickyEadie · 30/07/2018 16:44

LineRunner

It's the tedious, dreary way the trolls and acolytes think this is some sort of 'gotcha!', as if we've never heard (nor seen off) the nonsense before.

R0wantrees · 30/07/2018 16:48

The last time I was on the other thread we were discussing Bradley's role with regards to The Trans Equality Legal Initiative (TELI) and potential connection to Michelle Brewer, a lawyer who is due to speak at the WEP conference.

Tara Hewitt was apparently a co-founder of TELI

Interviewed 2016:
'What it's like to be Transgender and Catholic
Tara Hewitt, NHS equality and diversity advisor, doesn't believe in abortion or IVF but says it doesn't affect her job'
(extract)
"People don’t know about trans issues, it’s not that catholics are discriminating against trans people, its just that society is discriminating against transpeople.”

She also claims the bible doesn’t focus on gender.

“With the bible there is more of a discussion on sexuality but God doesn’t have a gender - God isn’t male or female, they are both.

“When we talk about God, he’s above that.”

Tara, who lives in New Brighton, is also a pansexual, which means she is attracted to any gender.

But, although she supports gay marriage and same-sex adoption, she doesn’t believe in IVF.

“None of my views are based on sexual orientation I support love.

“Millions of people share my view but, because they aren’t trans, they aren’t targetted.

“It’s hard being right wing and trans, I get attacked from both sides.”

Tara was on the Conservative Party candidate list in the last election and came under fire when a Sun report ‘revealed’ her sexual fetishes.

Hewitt reportedly described herself as an “advocate of the BDSM (bondage, discipline and sadomasochism) community”, and into “swinging” and “pet play”, which is dressing up as an animal for sex.

She says the relationship between the individual and the church is private, so her understanding of her faith shouldn’t impact anyone else” (continues)

I can't read about 'circle of trust' without hearing Robert De Niro's voice

To my mind it's just akin to men who send dick pics. Women universally dislike them; they're inappropriate and not arousing and yet men everywhere send them. They simply don't stop and take the time to understand that female sexuality is different. I don't believe JB considered they were doing anything women didn't do.

Indeed, Vicky. Well I'm fucking PROUD of my hysterectomy. It means that as a woman, I survived gynaecological illness and I'm still here.

My bleeding is done now. As a young girl, I knew I'd come to it, as a younger woman I had it, as a pregnant woman I knew it would return, as a woman on contraception I noticed it changed. As an older woman I had more changes, more bleeding, and now it's ended.

I am a woman. Only a woman experiences, biologically, the above, or variants of the above.

When my uterus went up in smoke, my femaleness did not. I am, and remain, a biological woman.

Men turn their lives upside down in pursuit of their sexual compulsions all the time. How about the govt minister who was recently caught bombarding two women in his constituency with violent sexual demands? (It was something like 2000 messages over a few weeks).

So Bradley, Brewer and Hewitt all founded TELI? Any more does anyone know? (Sorry R0wan I'm supposed to be working!)

I still find the potential link to WEP hair raising, even though I had never contemplated joining. I wonder what Sophie Walker makes of it.
