When you see threads plopped into FWR, especially the curious repeat of well worn subjects, I recommend you check for poster history before engaging.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads being referenced on twitter with screen shots & flagging in either MNHQ or outlets to try & get articles commissioned.

OP posts:
FloralBunting · 14/09/2018 17:39

I'm rather pleased to see the most recent one disappear, goady fuckery beyond even the most craven handmaiden's ability to excuse.

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 19:23

What was it?

VickyEadie · 14/09/2018 19:31

I think I was one of several who reported it.

That aunt person started one claiming some spurious bit of 'research' "debunked" the "propaganda" of "TEs".

FloralBunting · 14/09/2018 19:32

One of those studies that show transgender people aren't all perverts. To which regular posters said "Well, duh, who was saying they were?" and the thread title included the new acronym TE, for 'Trans-excluders' which was a blatant attempt to get away with calling people terfs without doing it. They did an attempted covert cissing in their subsequent post too. It was a naked goad.

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 19:43

I hope they're revising their earlier opinion that she isn't a GF because she has a posting history.

VickyEadie · 14/09/2018 19:56

I pointed out the goady fuckery and mentioned previous goady fuckery.

I also pointed out that we weren't allowed to mention Weetabix but this person was being a goady fucker and deploying new ways of calling us Txxfs (I think I could have used the actual word there, but I'm paranoid these days).

Needmoresleep · 14/09/2018 20:13

What happed to the neighbour with bad haircut thread. Bizarre but the responses were funny. I had hoped it was destinies for classics. I liked the MN deletion message.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/09/2018 22:07

I wish MN had a way to preserve some of those threads rather than nuking them. Also eg the 'midnight misogynist' series, partly so we could refer newbie MRAs to them to show them they're not being clever and original. They could lock down the thread with a final message similar to the deletion ones and then move it to a read-only topic. All it needs is a snappy title.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/09/2018 10:02

And, coincidentally - MNHQ do seem now to be locking some threads from further comment rather than deleting, they've just reinstated one which was on an issue to do with racism and had previously done similar re disabilities.

heresyandwitchcraft · 16/09/2018 21:32

General reminder

arranfan · 17/09/2018 09:15

One of the interesting potential avenues for the researchers to follow-up would be to explore whether PBP in their research ever rejoined in order to merail, derail, and generally be disruptive again.

Of course - the researchers didn't look at the case of posters who retired after being called out on some of their dubious tactics but the same follow-up would still be interesting.

arranfan · 17/09/2018 12:48

afaict, the Paris Lees departure from Celebrity Island thread has gone

R0wantrees · 17/09/2018 12:55

It had become what i thought a really interesting discussion about sexist stereotypes.

The deletion message says this was due to MN talk guidelines about inappropriate discussion of individual's genitals.

There was a lot of interesting discussion on that thread which made no mention of such things....

PineappleSunrise · 17/09/2018 22:13

There appears to be a new vegetal GF.

VickyEadie · 17/09/2018 22:30

Indeed so.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/09/2018 22:35

Who already attempted to derail the Debbie Hayton thread. I suggest not engaging.

VickyEadie · 17/09/2018 22:40

YEP.

VickyEadie · 17/09/2018 22:44

Wish I could talk about food.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/09/2018 22:44

I'd certainly rather hear what everyone had for dinner.

LangCleg · 17/09/2018 22:55

Yes. Did make an attempt at righting one particular thread but that'll be my entire input, I think.

MyBeloved · 17/09/2018 22:58

Seriously? People do this?! I don't have Twitter so was blissfully unaware!

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 07:16

(sigh)

Another exercise in harvesting quotes for Twitter. Someone stop me from engaging next time?

arranfan · 18/09/2018 07:34

I was very concerned that we were going to lose the Debbie thread with its many excellent posts and I did wonder if that a little bit under-pinned the difficulty of intervening without creating more squabbles.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/09/2018 07:35

At least our new vegetable now has their own thread to do whatever it is that they're trying to do on, and the Hayton thread is still standing.

arranfan · 18/09/2018 07:55

Hayton thread is still standing

It says something about how fragile is the right for writing to stand on fora. I don't pdf discussions because I know I would be in breach of copyright. However, by failing to do this I know that I've never seen posts that I have seen other posters praise.
