Hypocrite or what?

Context, Christian Dr and Monore debating on This Morning.

I've lost count of the number of times I've thought 'How did they say that with a straight face? They have to be taking the piss''.
Then realise that no, its just how much they lack any kind of empathy and its all about them.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/07/2018 10:49

Yes I am watching and cringed at that. Although so depressing that they trot out , as ever, an inarticulate person, totally unused to tv, to represent the GC view, and then keep the focus on his Christianity. Really annoys me. I hate the way that religious belief, in particular Christianity , is used as shorthand for bigoted nutcase.

We need Magdalen to be given a platform up with Munroe.

HelsinkiMan · 17/07/2018 10:50

False suicide stats, talking over everyone. Own goals everywhere, could not see that Eamon was opening up the goal to support and instead shot own goals.

The point is religious belief and transgender belief are both something you can't impose on another.

YY. They have no remote concept of how they come across, any sense of irony or a shred of self awareness.

HelsinkiMan · 17/07/2018 10:53

Vote on FB page, they are polling .

AngryAttackKittens · 17/07/2018 10:55

My poor irony meter just exploded again.

SirVixofVixHall · 17/07/2018 10:58

Munroe is not very intelligent.

redshoeblueshoe · 17/07/2018 11:02

Someone should tweet Eamon and Ruth.
They always seem very down to earth, and I'm sure they will cover this again over the next 7 weeks.

It pisses me of when TV people sit on the fence to protect their own reputation, but Eamon doesn't do that.

HelsinkiMan · 17/07/2018 11:15

Currently 53% voted that you can't change gender.

Another case of ‘Women, know your place!’

HelsinkiMan · 17/07/2018 11:22

The Dr is a male man.

Bloody annoying that they keep using gender instead of sex.

HelsinkiMan · 17/07/2018 13:26

Had he used the word sex instead of gender and kept more to science there would have been a better outcome.

I see 59% posted on Facebook that they agreed with the Dr.

Although MB annoys me, they at least admit they are biologically male. MB is also said they are attracted to men and have dysphoria, so your classic transexual.

What MB doesn't realise is they are being used by a bunch of white adult males who love their dicks to further their cause. People see MB and feel sympathy that they wouldn't have for a cross dressing male with a sexual fetish.

pachyderm · 17/07/2018 15:00

God yeah, just think of Magdalen, 1000 times more intelligent and incisive than mediocrities like Bergdorf, Faye, Lees, Willoughby, Dawson who are given endless platforms and unearned privilege. Makes me sick. Angry

pachyderm · 17/07/2018 15:03

I mean what could they possibly have in common, those five?Hmm

MistressDeeCee · 17/07/2018 15:04

I'm minded that MB does realise this but is a tragic figure that will buy into it, even as a victim of it

SirVixofVixHall · 17/07/2018 16:45

@Pachyderm yes. Magdalen would wipe the floor with someone like Willoughby.

R0wantrees · 17/07/2018 17:03

you would think that the obvious response to this would be, "But you made recently made a program recently called 'What Makes a Woman'!"

The researchers on This Morning don't appear to do much background.

cf last week's interview with India Willoughby

Exactly. And why do these mediocre males get these platforms? Where are all the FTMs? QED.

FloralBunting · 17/07/2018 17:37

This Morning is a ridiculous programme for this sort of thing. It's a bit like the telly equivalent of those true story testimony magazines that you find in hospitals and GP surgery waiting rooms.
It's the last programme I'd expect to find sense and balance. Eamonn and Ruth are certainly better than Holly and Phil, but it's just not the kind of format that allows for real nuance.

R0wantrees · 17/07/2018 18:16

I've just watched it.

Monroe Bergdorf "84% of trans young people are either self-harming or have attempted suicide"

Interesting that Monroe also highlighted that paperwork including passports can be changed re male/female.

The Dr commented, 'this is being driven'

Not sure why someone didn't comment that there is more in common with faith and TR ideology than science?

DietCoke87 · 17/07/2018 19:14

Just watched it. Is believing that male humans and female humans differ biologically really just "a belief" restricted to the Christian faith?

Also, I'd love to see one media appearance with a trans person where suicide stats weren't brought up in response to a completely unrelated talking point. Not really on board with the Doctor conflating sex and gender either though. What a mess.
