I suspect that Starkey sees ugliness as the worst accusation he can throw at a woman, or perhaps even he sees that there is nothing at all he can say about her work and that's the best he can do.
There are so many really inspirational women being talked about on this thread, it's quite cheering really.

Anyway, turns out Starkey’s got history (oh, I’m on fire tonight), and was complaining about the ‘feminisation’ of history nearly ten years ago. Here he is in a previous tv debate with one of his contemporaries......

David is annoyed because like most middle to late aged men, they have started to lose their unearned power and privilege . They are being treated now like women and they don't like it.

Erudite and interesting as he is, David Starkey must be one of the, if not the, rudest men in the country. He's always like it, there's no respite - and no-one is immune from his sharp tongue.

Ive been unlucky enough to experience a number of situations where he was present

I realised in the first encounter that he was vile and should be seen as such, but sadly I have seen people be really upset by him.
