So, whilst our idea of protest is an anti Trump carnival in London, this group invades the World Cup final knowing that prison and worse awaits, no doubt.

They can spoil my football enjoyment anytime. Truth is inconvenient.

not that everything should be about trans on this forum these woman are Truely inspirational and fight for what they believe in knowing how high the stakes are, best bit of the final if you ask me ☺️

also you do know pussy riot are very pro trans inclusion don't you 😉

powershowerforanhour · 15/07/2018 22:36

I don't watch football but will probably watch for this. Pussy Riot are fab!

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/07/2018 22:38

It was brave but I expect pointless.

Unlike the Trump demonstrations - which were mass virtue signalling, involving no risk and pointless.

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/07/2018 22:38

They are very brave to protest like that in Russia. I imagine they will be punished very harshly given what a public stage it was.

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/07/2018 22:40

I mean about 99% of non US population think Trump and his policies are awful. Trump knows that and he doesn't care. The Trump demonstrations were just one huge self- congratulatory pat on the back.

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 22:42

Lass -they do achieve, so not pointless I think.

Can you imagine being that brave?

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 15/07/2018 22:44

Brave brave brave

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/07/2018 22:46

Very brave of them!

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 22:53

Courage calls to courage

OP posts:
NotTerfNorCis · 15/07/2018 22:56

Wow I didn't realise it was Pussy Riot! Such courage.

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 15/07/2018 22:59

I detest football - i was seed sowing...but wow well done them.

Fitflapflop · 15/07/2018 22:59

Courage? They ruined the game. Sporting events shouldn’t be a place to make a point about something, and they could’ve got seriously hurt. Idiots.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/07/2018 23:04

Ruined? Really?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 15/07/2018 23:04

It was undoubtedly brave... but this is the first I’ve heard of it. My DH watched the game, said nothing. I’ve been on and off my phone all day.. nothing. News website, not on the top five.

Hope it wasn’t a totally wasted shot of bravery.

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 23:04

Indeed whatever next? Interfering with the Kings horse at the Derby?

OP posts:
NotTerfNorCis · 15/07/2018 23:04

They didn't ruin it at all. They were on the pitch for about a minute, less time than it takes for an injured person to be checked out or a foul to be judged. For that they're potentially giving up years of their lives.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/07/2018 23:05

Seems a pitiful game if it can be ruined by someone running onto the pitch for a few minutes

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/07/2018 23:06

They were prepared to risk being hurt. They were protesting at a major international event being held in their country. Polite safe protest that you've asked permission to do isn't going to get them anywhere.

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 23:06

News channels don’t show protesters. I remember streakers at cricket matches! The idea is not to encourage it.

You’re hearing about it now aren’t you?

OP posts:
NicoAndTheNiners · 15/07/2018 23:07

One of the invaders I believe is one of the ones who did the church protest and was sent to a very severe prison for years following that. Quite amazing she is prepared to go back. I assume they will be punished quite harshly.

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 23:08

“Sporting events shouldn’t be a place to make a point about something”

Sorry I think fit is joking?

Where exactly in Putin’s Russia would you like them to protest fit?,

OP posts:
MaryPoppinsPenguins · 15/07/2018 23:08

Yes Speaking... that’s my point. I’m only hearing about it now.

I hope they haven’t done this for nothing.

CanineEnigma · 15/07/2018 23:09

They didn’t ruin it. And definitely braver than a cosy Trump protest that major political parties endorsed.

speakingwoman · 15/07/2018 23:11

. It was on the news. The6 can’t broadcast these things live because most pitch invasions are trivial.

Surely the whole nature of courageous protest is that it will probably be for nothing?

OP posts:
LassWiADelicateAir · 15/07/2018 23:14

Ruined? Really?

I watched it. They didn't ruin anything. It was all over in less than a minute.
