There's a 'short debate' in the House of Lords on 'gender recognition process and the Government's LGBT action plan' this afternoon.

The Conservative peer Lord Lucas (does anyone know anything about him and what his views are likely to be?) has called it and so far the other peers who are listed as speaking are Baroness Barker, Lord Cashman, Baroness Featherstone, Baroness Gale, Lord Scriven and Baroness Williams. As at least four of those of Liberal Democrats I'm not optimistic that women's concerns about self ID will be reflected.

About Lynne Featherstone: she was a well-regarded, hard-working MP in North London, and she did a lot for local women affected by female genital mutilation. (Meaning forcibly mutilating female genitals, cutting off labia, clitoris, sewing shut women's vaginas ... absolutely horrific, unspeakable violence that so many women experience.) So it's a bit puzzling to think she might regard biological sex as irrelevant. She may not have thought this through ...

Wow, you are right.

Looks like she has good intent but has been easily led in the past (who the hell orders 22 GRAND worth of stationary? Even if it was an employee without her knowledge, that’s pretty bonkers).
