These women are bloody brave, if I was wearing a hat I'd tip it to them

EeveePHD: pride may be an inclusive environment, but women’s bodies are not.

thebewilderness · 08/07/2018 02:06

I am amazed at how many people have been taught that PRIDE is about inclusiveness instead of a stand against homophobia.
Kinda reminds me of the people who claim that Feminism is for everyone, not just for women.

invisibleoldwoman · 08/07/2018 02:08

Just adding my voice to the applause for these brave women. Congratulations.

EeveePHD · 08/07/2018 02:09

EeveePHD: pride may be an inclusive environment, but women’s bodies are not.

That's fine. No one is forcing anyone to sleep with each other in the context these women claim. They have a right to say no and walk away just like Trans lesbians have a right to say no to sleeping with men.

thebewilderness · 08/07/2018 02:25

I confess I was surprised by the number of homophobic misogynists at London Pride this year. I expected them at San Francisco after the library exhibit of weapons carried at Pride to beat Lesbians into submission.
I was told there was a pedophile float this year. Does anyone know if this is true?

thebewilderness · 08/07/2018 02:27

EeveePHD
I think most of the women here know the difference between coercion and force, having experienced both of them.

TheMythicalChicken · 08/07/2018 02:29

No, I think that was a link to an earlier Pride, in the 1970s.

thebewilderness · 08/07/2018 02:31

Fake news?
Thanks.

That is a sad state of affairs, but not all Trans women are rapists/Thugs.
I am a Trans Lesbian and I have never forced or hurt any woman.

BlytheByName · 08/07/2018 02:35

Going to bed now but the solidarity of the women from these feminist boards is so encouraging.
We can all make a difference if we speak to our colleagues at a work, or in the pub, everywhere. Start gender critical conversations everywhere.
Mums in playgrounds, mums at book groups, mums in supermarket lines, we are EVERYWHERE!

LaSqrrl · 08/07/2018 02:36

Late to the party, so many brilliant comments already.

Wanted to highlight a comment by SuperLoud
'Lesbian' is the opposite of inclusive. It's a boundary. It's exclusionary.
Exactly!
PERFect women (penis exclusionary radical feminists)!

And yes to a number of comments that said:
It wasn’t anti-trans. It was pro lesbian.

I am so very proud of them (and do know a couple of them, but I don't think I know Blythe?) Wine

LaSqrrl · 08/07/2018 02:39

Some earlier misguided comments about post-op/pre-op distinction.
Just no.

Apart from an inverted penis being a poor imitation of a vagina (and, not a vagina!), hollowed out ballsacks also not vulvas!

BlytheByName · 08/07/2018 02:40

Lasqrrl
I'm here and not queer.

Longtime reader of awesome women on Mumsnet.
See you all tomorrow sisters.

LaSqrrl · 08/07/2018 02:40

I would love to change society so that people can again tell someone he is being a dick the group would support that person in. doing this

Grin Grin Grin
is all I can say about that!

TheMythicalChicken · 08/07/2018 02:51

You are right BlytheByName, we need to educate everybody we know about the issues. I thought you were all bonkers when I started reading about the Trans issue on Mumsnet and now I totally get it.

I left feminism 25 years ago because I felt our job was done; I now feel I need to return as we have a new fight.

Well done @BlytheByName and friends for highlighting this issue in the way that you did. It took real courage.

TheFemaleGaze · 08/07/2018 03:11

I've been in a relationship with a woman for 20+ years. I don't identify as a lesbian. Why? Because I like men, have had relationships with them, enjoy the sex with them, might even have a relationship with one if I were to be single again. I just happen to love a woman.
Do I agree with the women who bravely protested at Pride today? Unconditionally.
Be trans by all means. But do accept that lesbians have rights, starting with the right to say no.

CrustyCob · 08/07/2018 03:29

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/07/07/mayor-of-london-sadiq-khan-pride-transgender/

Sadiq Khan gets into bed with Pink News, and makes out that it's an anti trans protest, not a protest against sexual harassment of lesbians.

Lesbians know your place!

This is brilliant! I found out about this late last night and I am so proud to see gay women standing up for their rights. Shame on Pride for kicking them out! Males have been pressuring lesbians to have sex with them for all of human history, now that males who claim transgender status do, why would anyone be shocked by this? Seriously.

I hope we see more of this! This is just societal rape by proxy otherwise.

TerfsUp · 08/07/2018 06:40

Pride is about - and has always been about - men.

Igneococcus · 08/07/2018 06:53

Tiny story on it in The Sunday Times:
