Okay so I went with an open mind.

GrinGrinGrin

Ereshkigal · 16/07/2018 21:25

My thoughts exactly Grin

NynaeveSedai · 16/07/2018 21:25

I don't think you did daim.

LangCleg · 16/07/2018 21:26

Been following here and elsewhere and it sounds like a great meeting.

Well done, women!

Melamin · 16/07/2018 21:27

LOL Toe

Ereshkigal · 16/07/2018 21:28

Stayed for a few questions but but had to leave before I was sick in my mouth. Off home now to bleach my brain.

Well done you valiant defender of social justice Thanks

Popchyk · 16/07/2018 21:29

Sounds like a great meeting.

Well done to everyone.

daimbars · 16/07/2018 21:29

Ah Ereshkigal thought you were agreeing with me there!

I went with a totally open mind, but this was preaching to the converted. There was no space for debate with anyone on the fence or on 'the other side'

They need to tone it down if they are ever going to convince anyone remotely liberal to get on board.

AnchorMum · 16/07/2018 21:29

Sounds fantastic - wish I could
been there. And a big thank you for for the updates Melamin

LangCleg · 16/07/2018 21:31

Voice of the 82%!

LangCleg · 16/07/2018 21:31

Yes: thank you, Melamin. Flowers

ToeToToe · 16/07/2018 21:33

That's wasn't predictable at all, daimbars.

Gender is a load of bollocks. Boy brain/girl brain is also a load of bollocks.

"Lots of jeers and laughter at her statement 'trans people have periods' (of course trans people have periods if they were born with female anatomy)"

Don't be disingenuous. You know that we are quite well aware that transmen can have periods. Transwomen cannot - and there is currently a group of them claiming publicly that they do "suffer menstrual cramps". This is the height of disrespect for women - as well as appropriation of women's biology.

None of that is transphobic - I reserve the right to laugh at such fuckwittery. It is really, really shitty for anyone born male-bodied to try to make out they have periods. They do not.

shitsgettingreal · 16/07/2018 21:34

They're not conversion meetings daim. Why didn't you stay and ask your questions?

OvaHere · 16/07/2018 21:35

‘Trans people welcome and support consultation’ was the main message from the protesters

Really? The photo on twitter below suggests the message was as usual 'no debate'. That's what is on the placard.

Ereshkigal · 16/07/2018 21:36

Toe

I'm not laughing, honest.

Me neither. Definitely not. Not even quietly.

daimbars · 16/07/2018 21:40

Yes trans people welcome and support consultation - this is the flyer the protesters were handing out.

Obviously they want people to support the reforms to the GRA but they welcome consultation. See point 6.

"Piss up in a brewery" and "can't organise" are the phrases that spring to mind, Ereshkigal.

It would obviously be crass to laugh at this, though. Obviously.

Melamin · 16/07/2018 21:44

It makes sense as to why the address on twitter was not the one Daim had been given - it was a little confusing at the time, but all is explained Grin

daimbars · 16/07/2018 21:45

Melamin lol yes Brighton has two Jury's Inns and there was confusion over which one.

I was moved to tears at Jean Hatchets amazing talk (and so was she at one point iirc). She truly is an amazing woman.

daimbars · 16/07/2018 21:58

Women being murdered and having no place of safety is what should cause strong emotions in other women, not joking at nonsensical crap about male periods. Get your priorities sorted.

Yes yes yes yes yes! The meeting tonight was basically one big long piss take of trans people, having a good old laugh at their expense. No mention of any other real issues affecting women.

Ereshkigal · 16/07/2018 22:00

Doesn't really sound like that from the Twitter feed Hmm

OvaHere · 16/07/2018 22:01

No it didn't Ereshkigal I guess we will know when the videos are uploaded.

Floisme · 16/07/2018 22:02

Will there be a recording available? It would be good to be able to confirm who is taking the piss here.
