This is just a plea for that really....

I do understand how upset so many people are about Mumsnet's recent policies and the confusion and hurt they have caused - yes I have sobbed tears late into the night too

But please stay! I am sad so many are fleeing - and hope that some will maintain their sanity by not being on here every day, but coming on when feeling strong enough.

More than anything I think it is important that many of us are here now, with the government consultation launching on 7 July - speaking out on this board and AIBU and chat - so that people understand the conflict between women/girls right and trans rights as currently proposed - so that people understand what we may be about to lose before we do - and recognise that this isn't transphobia, but actually talking about the challenges and doing that much-quoted but seldom done "equality impact assessment" for everyone affected

It is fine and fair to ask about what will happen to women and girls - and to want transpeople to have strong rights

Especially this bit -

Mumsnet now feels inherently hostile to gender critical feminists. I don't think it feels inherently hostile to trolls. They appear to be having a good time.

Pencils well put!!

I'll stay while I can. I'm sure that while there are lurkers it's worth speaking out.

To an extent I welcome the TRas. When they post here to "educate" us their aeguments just don't withstand scrutiny. Their science is preposterous (thanks Babel) and when regular posters tease out what is happening it always supports the gender critical view

enoughisenoughtoday · 26/06/2018 13:10

Good point Prawn

The appropriation, the gaslighting, the dismissal, the dodgy science and statistics - all laid out here here in plain sight for all the lurkers.
It IS tedious but hey - it's a means to an end.

I'd intended to go cold turkey from MN for a while - I have to do this periodically as I find it a bit too addictive. But now I don't feel I should. I think it's all the more important for people who don't actually need MN for support any more to stay in this corner. I think I can usually work out how to say what I want within the talk guidelines and 'spirit of MN' but tbh it might be doing me a favour if I did get banned so I'm in the fortunate position of not being worried by the threat.

Tartyflette · 26/06/2018 13:39

I'm an old gimmer and old-school 'soft' feminist and I lurk a lot and post a little - But I've learned so much from the clever and well-informed women here; I won't leave.
I'll stay and support as much as possible in the fervent hope that the tide will turn soon. It may have already started.

MnerXX · 26/06/2018 13:40

I am an occasional poster and heavily disappointed by the recent guidelines. Although (sadly) I am not surprised that this is the way things are moving. I will stay until I am forced out. I will try my hardest not to rock the boat in terms of being kicked out but what new rules may be dreamed up.

Sometimes the boards move too fast for me to post, or there is nothing to add beyond what has been said already but I will do what I can whilst I can.

I am spartacus.

MnerXX · 26/06/2018 13:41

Oops. That should be "who knows what new rules will be dreamed up

spontaneousgiventime · 26/06/2018 13:46

Btw spontaneous I did email the owner of the other place but I haven’t had a reply for a link to join up - any chance you could remind, I may have got lost somewhere...

Will do.

BlackShutters · 26/06/2018 13:47

Another lurker here. I don't post much because someone nearly always says it better. I'll try to step up!
The tone of this board has changed and not for the better.

MnerXX · 26/06/2018 13:52

Spontaneous any chance you could PM it to me as well? Just in case I do get banned? At least then I have a back up!
