"I am the subject of a formal complaint to the party about my conduct in connection with these issues, which makes it difficult for me to comment."

Good. Shame he had to ask.

Popchyk · 15/06/2018 17:15

So a certain element in the Lib Dems has recently complained about:

  • Andrew Gilligan, the Times journalist, to the Independent Press Standards Organisation. He was cleared.
  • Transgender Trend crowdfunder. It was cleared.
  • David Davies MP. He was cleared.
  • Brian Paddick, Lib Dem Peer. He was cleared.

They must be furious.

Was it a sub group LD Twitter account?

R0wantrees · 15/06/2018 17:22

LGBT+LibDem twitter account.
There are apparently four people who tweet from it.

Discussion here:

LGBT+LibDem twitter account.
There are apparently four people who tweet from it.

And there is much confusion about whether this is an official LD account or not. When complaints have been made in the past the Lib Dems have distanced themselves. Yet it uses their logo.

Popchyk · 15/06/2018 17:33

Zoe O'Connell (transgender person, Lib Dem councillor and one of the contributors to the Lib Dem LGBT twitter account) was the one who personally complained about David Davies and Andrew Gilligan.

enoughisenoughtoday · 15/06/2018 17:43

Good. He's an ethical politician and we have too few of those around at the moment.

Melamin · 15/06/2018 17:51

and the same Sarah Brown?

Popchyk · 15/06/2018 17:52

Yes, those people.

The public is given a narrative of the most oppressed group EVER!

The public is given a narrative of the most oppressed group EVER

Indeed.

R0wantrees · 15/06/2018 18:02

The public is given a narrative of the most oppressed group EVER!

Michael Biggs' (Oxford Sociology professor) article:

'Free speech at Oxford:
Do women have the right to meet to discuss legislation?'
(extract)
"Perversely, the violence and intimidation inflicted by transgender activists is then used to portray themselves as victims.

Woman’s Place cannot announce their meetings in advance because the venue will be harassed, and so transgender activists portray it as a secretive organization.

Dr Clara Barker, a transwoman at the University of Oxford, refused to attend the meeting despite having a personal invitation from one of the speakers, Dr Nic Williams. Barker cited safety fears: ‘A number of events involving people who oppose trans-rights have ended up with physical violence.’ Of course the only violence at such events has been inflicted by transgender activists on women.

Campaigns of harassment and intimidation have become staple tools of transgender activism in the last fifteen years.. "

The public is given a narrative of the most oppressed group EVER

This is made explicit in claims made by Tara Hewitt during a training session for HCPs, 'Trans people and cancer':

Ereshkigal · 15/06/2018 18:07

Particularly the claim Tara makes about breast cancer about a minute before the end.

LapdanceShoeshine · 16/06/2018 01:14

He's off the hook now apparently.

Had to chase them to find out though Hmm

BattleAx
My eyesight isn’t quite what it was, I first read your post as ‘ignore the stakeholders we are stunning”. Grin

Brian Paddick will understand something of what ordinary women are up against now, I do hope he keeps on listening and talking about this. His experience and views will be heard in some important places that women’s voices won’t be so welcomed. I really hope that he doesn’t lose his interest in this area now or get scared off by the narcissistic raging.

Popchyk · 16/06/2018 11:41

I like the fact that he talks about all of this on Twitter. Every time there is a complaint against him he politely states the facts of the matter.

Shines the light on it.

Which must be annoying for those who are out to get him.

GeordieTerf · 16/06/2018 12:09

The lib Dems are a mess atm, so this is no surprise.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 16/06/2018 12:22

You wouldn't think aggressively pushing an extreme version of a minority position that risks pissing off (at least) half the electorate was a very good move for a decimated party, but I suppose they know their own business best Hmm

Respect to Brian Paddick though. And apologies to him for my dismissive remarks on earlier threads.
