Why was it deleted?

OP posts:
Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 12:21

i am very 'suspicious' of the delay

The OP disappeared and i cant see why it would have continued to be deleted

GrainneWail · 08/06/2018 12:24

Message was "Message from MNHQ: Thanks so much for all the reports about this thread - sorry for the delay. We think it's best we take it down now."

Didn't know oats in crumble topping was that controversial.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 12:32

Well exactly graine

And the thread had been an issue from the OP...so why the delay

I may have missed something....i often do

But it did seem that it had been 'reclaimed' by FWR and thats when it was deleted...not when the actual troll was there

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 08/06/2018 12:35

Indeed. We really must learn to take these things seriously and never ever take the piss. Silly women, we are.

LangCleg · 08/06/2018 12:36

Not the first time this has happened. My takeaway is that taking the piss is now frowned upon. Unsure how else we are supposed to respond within talk guidelines.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 12:36

I wanted Judas as my confirmation name...but they wouldn't let me

(Apropos of nothing)

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 12:37

Well thats me done on mumsnet

Thats pretty much all i do!!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 12:39

MNHQ

Can you possibly elaborate on why the thread was deleted

Reports of what exactly...cake recipes?

Please and thank you

(To be fair the thread should have been deleted at the mention of a cake made with peas)

StealthNinjaMum · 08/06/2018 12:41

I was only half-way through it. I meant to go back for inspiration for tonight's dinner.

My poor children will starve now...

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 12:53

Apart from anything else, I haven't been able to make Apple Grasmere. My lunch guests are most disappointed.

OP posts:
SophieLMumsnet · 08/06/2018 13:06

Hi all,

Sorry for being unclear! We deleted it after re-reading over it - and we felt it wasn't really helping anyone. Obviously cake recipes aren't against TGs - it was more the OP post and the thread overall.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/06/2018 13:13

Thank you sophie

Can you send emergency supplies to stealths child and bertrands lunch guests Smile

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 14:09

So am I understanding this correctly? The thread wasn't deleted because it was started by a troll-type person. MNHQ re read it this morning and deleted it because people were taking the piss out of said troll like person? Is that right?

OP posts:
loveyouradvice · 08/06/2018 14:11

Darn - I really wanted that cherry almond cake recipe posted by someone and I can't remember who! Mums net can you send to me? Thanks

loveyouradvice · 08/06/2018 14:13

What makes me sad about this is I thought that thread was a brilliant example of how we might deal in house with disingenuous OPs.... funny, very Mumsnet... really sad it has been taken down .... it was a classic for this forum!

StealthNinjaMum · 08/06/2018 14:15

I had only read some of it but I thought it showed lurkers (of which I am usually one) who are new to this board some of the trolling users of this board put up with it.

I thought it contained some useful EVIDENCE that disagreed with the op's claims and some lighthearted comments about cake. Maybe I missed something and it turned nasty but it just seemed like mumsnet at its best - lots of intelligent and funny women.

StealthNinjaMum · 08/06/2018 14:16

cross post with loveyouradvice who said it better than me.

Didn't know oats in crumble topping wasthatcontroversial.

Oh come on! An ABOMINATION.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 08/06/2018 14:20

And I don't want to be dogmatic but a cake is no place for peas.

Maybe that's why it was deleted?

auntycartmanslargertestacle · 08/06/2018 14:25

Just as long as someone remembers to take tablet to Truro all will end well. MNHQ your bad, best thread EVAH.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2018 14:34

I wonder if at some point an analysis will be done on the content of deleted threads. Data is mined and analysed for all sorts of purposes - training an AI on what constitutes bad stuff could be one legitimate reason. It will transpire that a bafflingly large number of MNs deleted threads seem to be predominantly about tea and/or cakes....

I'm gutted! I was planning on trying out every single recipe and then getting really good at baking and go on something Non-Bake-Offy with Mary Berry!

Now my dreams have been dashed and my pets will starve.

Shame on you, MN!

BettyFloop · 08/06/2018 14:44

That thread cheered me up no end after a long and difficult day yesterday. The baking related comments made me laugh out loud more than once and I thought it was an excellent demonstration to any GFs out there of how posters here can derail a trolling thread with wit and good humour.

I'm just glad I saved some of the recipe links and I hope the book idea doesn't get lost now the thread's gone because I'd buy multiple copies.

Bowlofbabelfish · 08/06/2018 14:47

It was the oats in crumble. I mean I just don’t know how anyone can live with themselves...

I’m glad I saved the recipe!
