I have had several discussions with M&S who were very much digging their heels in and putting male feelings ahead of sex segregation exemptions in the EA2010. I had another discussion with them today and they are finally looking at their policy again.

Please take action and message them your feminist concerns.

Including links to a trans woman who admitted to throwing clothes in an aggressive act, at female staff in a woman's changing room.

"My kids want some Percy Pigs before Jamie Oliver snatches them away."

If your kids are sons they will need to use the male changing room, of course

Pratchet · 06/06/2018 21:00

It's a made up problem for trans people, specifically trans'women'. No reason they can't use the men's, or campaign for third spaces. Plenty plenty options.

Terrorbird · 06/06/2018 21:00

M and S Twitter have just explicitly stated that they are not changing this policy and that trans people are free to use whichever changing space they feel is most appropriate for them

AgentProvocateur · 06/06/2018 21:01

Interesting article about Debenhams in Glasgow today. A transwoman was refused entry into women’s changing room, but then complained and now they’re apparently “not gender specific” Hmm (They really are - I’ve shopped here lots) www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scots-transgender-woman-left-tears-12652629

In English law a woman cannot rape. The crime of rape is forced penetration with a penis.

dagnab · 06/06/2018 21:03

Then this happened...

BarrackerBarmer · 06/06/2018 21:04

you know women can rape as well?

Actually, they can't.
And they don't.

Rape is defined as requiring a penis in UK law.

Try harder.

thebewilderness · 06/06/2018 21:08

Nothing says "Fox is not from around here" like them not knowing the rape laws in their jurisdiction are not universal laws.

FoxOnSecurity · 06/06/2018 21:08

Err no.. Here's the act, its any of them points, so a digit pentening and so on can count as rape, but in terms of a conviction probelry more down the line of sexual assault.

In reaction to the Government sex segregation Petition response, M&S are finally reconsidering their position on their sexist unsafe and undignified policy.
Pratchet · 06/06/2018 21:09

They don't at the same massive rate Fox plus we can fight them off easier

FoxOnSecurity · 06/06/2018 21:10

@thebewilderness I know the laws rather well seeing its my job to. Also its not "Fox is not from around here" its 'foxonsecurity' which sums it up really

OneHourTwentyFourMinutes · 06/06/2018 21:11

The Executive office said they are reviewing policy with the relevant teams. In the meantime my guess is that current policy will remain.

BorchesterTowers · 06/06/2018 21:11

but a manly flat chest and a beard is just not trying to be a woman - it's something else. What is it then? Who are they?

A feminine man? Nowt wrong with that - if masculinity weren’t so narrow and constrained (by men policing other men through violence) then the non-binaries wouldn’t have to pretend they were revolutionary social justice warriors.

Gender roles, and masculinity in particular, are the problem here.

spontaneousgiventime · 06/06/2018 21:11

Definition of rape

Pratchet · 06/06/2018 21:12

Ok that's cool. Bye Marks, bye Debs.
Topshop
Lush
Primark

(I buy all the Christmas and birthday presents in my house and I have quite a lot of money)

Pratchet · 06/06/2018 21:12

To be fair I wouldn't go to primark anyway Blush that's a symbolic boycott

FoxOnSecurity · 06/06/2018 21:13

@OneHourTwentyFourMinutes and I'm guessing it will remain, the policy works, its in line with the law (EA2010), and if someone was spying on someone in the changing rooms and so on then it gets dualt with in line of law. Like anything really. Don't see what the fuss is about. Trans people want to try clothes on, and to buy clothes. Just like anyone.

Pratchet · 06/06/2018 21:14

Why do male bodied people want inbto our changing rooms anyway

spontaneousgiventime · 06/06/2018 21:15

Totally with you Pratchet. Any store that will not guarantee me security, privacy and dignity will not get a penny out of me.

FoxOnSecurity · 06/06/2018 21:16

Because they are female? gets popcorn

vicviking · 06/06/2018 21:16

Fox - doesn't the act you posted contradict what you say? It says rape requires a penis.

madvixen · 06/06/2018 21:17

Women in the U.K. can't commit rape but they can be charged with it. E.g. a woman holding down a person while they are penetrated with a penis, without their consent, could be charged with rape even though they did not commit the actual rape themselves.
Hubby is a sex crimes police officer so he's well versed (unfortunately) in the legislation

It doesn't no, if any of them points are proven then it's rape, but its comes down to evendance so much more likely charged as sexual assault and so on

FoxOnSecurity · 06/06/2018 21:20

@BarrackerBarmer my cult? Well I don't have a cult, but um thanks then?
