Where do we draw the trans line....?

Really interesting reading all the Daily Mail comments on latest Man Friday article.... most seemed quite happy with the idea of transsexuals using women's facilities, but no transwomen with dangly bits.

This used to be my position - and may still be so... but I am really concerned the more I read about certain transsexuals (the previously macho late-transitioning type).... those with rampant AGP which leads them to fetishise women's bodies and being in women's spaces in a very mansplainy way.... I feel very squeamish about sharing space with them.... and was deeply shocked by learning that some comb bins for used tampons and pads and wear them to "feel more like a woman" and then celebrate and share this online with other fetishists.....

My suspicion is that for the sake of what one might see as the transsexuals we have long shared space with, out of courtesy and respect, that yes it is okay for them to be in some women's spaces .... But my concern is that with TRAs being so active and the transgender movement steamrollering ahead, that more of the aggressive AGP type are going to feel liberated to come out of the closet and into our spaces....and the balance will shift

I know this is just academic - given that focussing on No Self-Id is our priority - but would be very interested in hearing what other's think as I try to clarify my own position

My favourite is @PicassosPaintbrush who is both ex military and an expert on pay.

I know, its amazing, in my womanly life I've managed to have two successful careers. I was a Photographer in the RN for clarity. I also Yacht raced for the RN and the marines and still race regularly.

Plus I also set up and ran for five years a small pub company with my husband, I am an expert in real ale keeping, waddaya got to say about that? Racked barrels or floating widgets? We talked to the Director of Operations at Weathers and switched to the floating widgets. Do google splat me if you know better. I can landlady talk all night.

Hoping to have a third (fourth) career in my later years.

Tech Drawing. Yes, I gave up needlework as the teacher was too effing slow, and as the only girl in the Tech Drawing room they made me sit CSE and O level - cos I was a girl. Passed both obviously.

Us women, you can't hold us down. All that manly stuff we can do!

J4 came in too hard and fast. they could never keep up that pace.

i'm still genuinely torn on whether they were real or not.

LangCleg · 03/06/2018 19:10

This one didn't last long though. An early withdrawal, rather than a dramatic flounce. 4.0 at best.

Does this mean my tax rate is safe?

It was fun while it lasted, but I'm saying not. I mean, we must have run out of GRC holders by now. There aren't that many of them but somehow they all seem to end up here.

(In my experience, trans people with GRCs are the least likely to be political or go about doing things like this.)

Snigger Grin

Cannockcanring · 03/06/2018 19:15

You asked me who's rights are being violated, and my answer would be those of Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Romany and other women, who can't perform certain actions in front of men who they are not related to.
I'm quite confused by this - the only thing I do, outside a cubicle, visible to anyone else, in a public loo, is wash my hands. Do all those groups have beliefs that say a man can't see that? I'm genuinely asking, apologies if I'm being dim!

Sarahconnor1 · 03/06/2018 19:16

It's not just about peeing and toilets

TerfsUp · 03/06/2018 19:19

Easy come; easy go.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/06/2018 19:28

I'd agree with that. My TIF friend has a GRC, I know because if the many years I spent supporting him throughhis complete physical and legal transition.

But not many others know and he actively avoids places like this. He has fought his fight, won his battle and want nothing mroe than to live the live he has built for himself. Not least enjoying his long term relationship with a heterosexual woman who never knew the previous him.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/06/2018 19:29

cannock that's because it has been reduced to peeing in toilets, rather than all of the other sex segregated areas.

the only thing I do, outside a cubicle, visible to anyone else, in a public loo, is wash my hands.

Having had a miscarriage that started while on a ferry crossing, I was incredibly grateful for the women's restroom where I was able to cry a bit, borrow a pad from a fellow passenger, wash my hands, check the mirrors to see the state of my pants, and pull myself together before returning to my party.

Yes, this is about much, much more than bathrooms. But that said, lots of things happen in bathrooms, both inside and outside the stalls.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/06/2018 19:45

Mine were maroon. We had to wear two pairs of knickers at all times. At least my tiny bottom wasn’t chilly.

spontaneousgiventime · 03/06/2018 19:55

I remember when an old Twitterer had the display name "Hoe." A TiM went off on a massive rant about how she was slut shaming women and sex workers and should change it. She replied with a screenshot of the definition of hoe and he blocked her.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, some of them.

DarthArts · 03/06/2018 20:05

😂😂😂😂

I was thinking J4 must be MN virgin for similar reasons. Lots of bluster and enthusiasm but lacking technique and staying power in the face of experienced women.

spontaneousgiventime · 03/06/2018 20:08

Probably disappeared as fast as they did to go and have a lie down.

thebewilderness · 03/06/2018 20:22

Some very serious concerns have been raised on this thread.

1, Please stop telling males they can piss wherever they like. Please. Municipalities are installing splashers to cause the urine to splash back on the men pissing on walls everywhere they go. It is a serious health problem to have the streets running with urine.

2, What is going to happen to men and women who do not have a GRC when sex is erased from all forms and replace with gender? Will we be denied medical treatment because we have no proof of gender? Will we be denied use of public facilities because we cannot prove we have a gender?

UpstartCrow · 03/06/2018 20:28

@Cannockcanring As an example, women from some cultures can't show their hair to a man they aren't related to. If they wear a headscarf it has to be kept adjusted to keep their hair completely hidden.
To make it absolutely clear; I don't support patriarchal cultures that impose those kinds of restrictions. I do support the women who live with them.

thebewilderness · 03/06/2018 22:15

You may be sad to hear that MN silver hammer cam down on J4.
I was not. I had Cake to celebrate.

Picassospaintbrush · 03/06/2018 23:02

Honestly, I felt like we should have had a whip round for J4 for the laughs.

Picassospaintbrush · 03/06/2018 23:04

I am so happy I'm fmsfsm's favourite.

Here ready to talk about barrel widgets at any time.

rosylea · 04/06/2018 10:45

Hope you enjoyed your cake last night thebewildernessWink Well done all, I missed it, only just caught up. Unbelievable how they think their problems are to do with us and that we can be silenced.

TerfsUp · 04/06/2018 11:09

Good.

MipMipMip · 04/06/2018 12:20

Bottle green knicker shorts. With a yellow stripe down each side. Sad

We are calling this, and similar behaviours (not all trans connected) The Cult Of Me. It seems to fit.
