You're not very good at this Faith, are you.

Kettlepotblack · 29/05/2018 10:52

Had to hop on over here when I read about this. Been following your discussions for some time and am in full support.

Absolutely fantastic exposure of the utter hypocrisy and mockery this proposal is. Hats off gentlemen - amazing work.

RebelRogue · 29/05/2018 10:52

@FaithSeed
Kind of knocks the argument as to why there should be no men in female spaces on the head eh? Good work.

So trans women are men. Cool ,we all agree in that. They can stick to male spaces then,no need to access female ones.

SwearyG · 29/05/2018 10:56

No the police weren’t called at the women’s pond. The women were told to stop complaining. The pigs reference is being silly, not badass. As ever with people denying this issue a sense of humour is lacking.

As for women in the UK being attacked? Does it not matter when women in other countries are? How sad. In this country rapists have been moved into the women’s estate and attacked women in uk prisons. Martin Ponting being the rapist in point.

LangCleg · 29/05/2018 11:01

Mark Lazarus is currently serving an indefinite sentence for attempting to rape a 71-year-old woman in a public toilet while dressed as a woman. He had two previous convictions for following young girls in public places and flashing them while dressed as a woman. There are dozens upon dozens of men in prison for flashing/public indecency in public spaces while dressed as women. Opening women's private spaces to the male-bodied is an open invitation to such men to offend more easily.

Anybody who doesn't see this is fundamentally anti-woman.

I don't give a shit how sex offenders identify. Not one, single, solitary shit. All my shits are used up caring about women and girls.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 29/05/2018 11:06

SwearyG great stuff, thank you so much for doing this - it is getting the issue out into the mainstream I think.

So you managed to go into a "safe space" packed with men, and managed to get away with not being raped/assaulted/perved on, and when there was a problem the police arrived and dealt with it according to law

So transwomen would be quite safe there - no need to invade the women's areas.

Exactly, and since lots of women object to penis in their spaces, there really is no need to forcibly invade their space without their consent now then is there?

R0wantrees · 29/05/2018 11:16

How sad. In this country rapists have been moved into the women’s estate and attacked women in uk prisons. Martin Ponting being the rapist in point.

Recent threads concerning the separation of Sophie Eastwood and Alex Stewart. Trans women prisoners held in Scottish female estate.

Comment about female prisoners' feelings:
The source said: “Some of the lassies were getting more and more uncomfortable and complained."

from earlier article when Alex won the "jail's Miss Fitness competition by 'country mile'"
“The women inmates have had to accept that Stewart is being allowed to live as a woman, despite not having had surgery.

“That means she is in the showers at the same time as other inmates, which some have found quite awkard.

“She has the right to determine her own gender.

“That is fine because the vast majority of the women believe in inclusiveness and equality"

Well done to Laia who I'm guessing is a mumsnetter replying to the idiot comments.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 11:23

faith

So transwomen are definitely men then?

FaithSeed · 29/05/2018 11:23

Ok so we've Ponting and Lazarus (I can't find any court records/reports that Ponting sexually assaulted anyone in prison, more he was making unwanted advances and so was segregated) but let's roll with it. So there's 2 examples. Any advance on 2?

I only ask because.....

On average, three people are killed each year by lightning in the UK, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, which are odds 66 times shorter than the global average (BBC news)

As for Britain, while it is relatively shielded, between 30 and 60 people are hit every year, with an average of three dying as a result of being hit by a lightning bolt. (The independent)

So more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a trans woman.

Look, I get it. It's really really hard to claim your oppressed as a white middle class woman living in England in 2018, and without seeing yourself as a victim, feminism doesn't have a lot to offer, So this trans hate is the only pot to put on the fire. But is it really necessary to show so much bigotry towards a group of people? Who statistically are no danger to you at all?

colouringinagain · 29/05/2018 11:26

Just caught up with Matthew Wright. Great to have tv coverage.
Shame they didn't talk about male on female violence and sexual assault and "why can't we all just get along?" (Said a man) was classic.

Sarahconnor1 · 29/05/2018 11:27

YesItsADebate

Gutted I was going to ask to borrow it, I'm off to Italy in a few weeks and they appreciate style Grin

FaithSeed · 29/05/2018 11:28

you're

Bugger Blush

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 11:28

What’s lightning got to do with it? If we are flinging around random statistics then maybe the two women a week killed for being female would be a good one?

Who statistically are no danger to you at all?

Ah. Now we come to it. Because transwomen are men. And they retain the offending patterns of men, regardless of any hormonal or surgical intervention.
So, a transwoman poses the same threat as a man because they are men. That’s not saying they pose more threat because they are transwomen, simply that they are men in terms of offending rates and patterns

So if transwomen are men, and have the same offending patterns as men... why are they allowed in women’s spaces when men are not? Could you provide a logical reason for that?

LangCleg · 29/05/2018 11:29

Look, I get it. It's really really hard to claim your oppressed as a white middle class woman living in England in 2018.

Or....

Look, I get it. It's really really hard to claim you're oppressed as a white middle class male living in England in 2018. But putting on a dress should do it, and even if some uppity women don't think it does, you have full billionaire, political and institutional backing, so you should be ok.

As others have said - you're either at the point where you believe class-privileged, white, Western males are the most oppressed women on the planet or you're not.

I'm not.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 11:31

As others have said - you're either at the point where you believe class-privileged, white, Western males are the most oppressed women on the planet or you're not.

Me neither. Faith really doesn't grasp this.

LangCleg · 29/05/2018 11:34

Any advance on 2?

So you don't think it's a problem if we open women's private spaces to the dozens upon dozens (more likely hundreds) of convicted cross dressing voyeurs and flashers in public spaces, thus making it much easier for them to commit more serious and escalating crimes such as the attempted rape by Lazarus? No problem with normalising male bodies in women's private spaces at all? Ok. Got it.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 11:35

Any advance on 2?

How many assaults will satisfy you?

DickTERFin · 29/05/2018 11:35

Wow - the comment section of the Daily Mail is like a convention for the hard of thinking, isn't it?

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 11:37

Target in the USA has seen a doubling of voyeuristic crime after making changing rooms unisex. Males who want to access woman’s spaces will, and are, using this to access women.

If every transwoman on the planet was guaranteed a safe person (and they have exactlyvthe same offending rate as men so they don’t, but let’s say they do) it STILL is not appropriate to allow men into women’s spaces because predatory men will use the access to offend.

Nhsbytes · 29/05/2018 11:38

The woman's pond is very special to me too

ElfrideSwancourt · 29/05/2018 11:39

So impressed @SwearyG and all the #manfriday gents. You are doing an amazing job highlighting the ridiculousness of the situation re trans people and single sex spaces.

I LOVE the t shirt and have just ordered one!

I'm starting to post some GC stuff on Facebook- mostly sharing articles from a woman's place- tumbleweed so far but hopefully someone might be reading and questioning.

Sarahconnor1 · 29/05/2018 11:43

FaithSeed

If 2 examples arent enough, im curious to know how many women and girls being harmed would you be comfortable with as collateral damage.

IndominusRex · 29/05/2018 11:45

"It's really really hard to claim your oppressed as a white middle class woman living in England in 2018, and without seeing yourself as a victim, feminism doesn't have a lot to offer, So this trans hate is the only pot to put on the fire."

Wow. One in four of us are abused. Wow. Your misogyny is really showing mate.

R0wantrees · 29/05/2018 11:49

from fairplayforwomen.com/3781-2/

"The Justice Committee is conducting a new inquiry into the prison population, to find out whether the Ministry of Justice and prison services currently have a credible approach to accommodating the changes anticipated over the next 5 years."

'Evidence submitted to Prison Planning Inquiry'

"Fair Play For Women have now submitted their own written evidence based on the findings of the transgender prisoner study conducted in October 2017. If self-declaration of gender becomes law there will be an inevitable increase in the number of trans-identifying male offenders transferring to women’s prisons. This will have a massive impact on the women’s prison estate in terms of both capacity and women’s safety. We hope the justice committee will take these important issues on board..." continues
