We’re off - Katy Brand starting it off. Good intro.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 29/05/2018 10:20

Amy, you are my fucking hero for wearing this

Popchyk · 29/05/2018 10:22

Oh, totally, R0wan. But Labour are the ones with the very vocal transgender members who issue laughable public demands on a daily basis. And Labour have vocal members who disagree with the self-ID policy (David Lewis and Jennifer James for example). These have all made the papers.

The Conservatives aren't airing their dirty laundry, and the other parties are bonkers but they are the Greens and the Lib Dems so the general public takes absolutely no notice of them.

boatyardblues · 29/05/2018 10:22

Katy did a good intro, but they've now segued into neutral spaces in other parts of the world. Started to get annoyed, but they've gone back to the women's rights argument.

boatyardblues · 29/05/2018 10:24

The male commentator (not Terry) seems a bit perplexed - saying that men would be more problematic in women's spaces. Katy and Matthew setting him right, saying it's happening.

OK. All done, onto the cheese rolling now. It was pretty short and sharp, but they got some good points across.

IndominusRex · 29/05/2018 10:24

Ooh what did Katy say? I've got impression previously that she's gender critical.

SwearyG · 29/05/2018 10:24

They missed the fact that men attack women. It’s fucking clear as day and they glossed over it. Why doesn’t anyone ever think why we have women only spaces.

When men stop raping women, or even perving at them, I will consider no longer fighting for womens spaces to be retained. Not a day before.

IndominusRex · 29/05/2018 10:25

Oh glad she and Matthew said it's happening. Matthew Wright is doing good work on this message isn't he.

FaithSeed · 29/05/2018 10:25

So you managed to go into a "safe space" packed with men, and managed to get away with not being raped/assaulted/perved on, and when there was a problem the police arrived and dealt with it according to law.

Kind of knocks the argument as to why there should be no men in female spaces on the head eh? Good work. Wink

Let's hope this as used as evidence to support the upcoming changes to the act, and to show that there is no safety issues in sharing spaces, it's simply Rad Fem bigotry.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 10:30

Someone's rattled, clearly. If it were that self evident, why bother lecturing us why it's not going to work? Let us make fools of ourselves and undermine our own argument. Why do you care?

Popchyk · 29/05/2018 10:31

TRA 101.

"Kind of knocks the argument as to why there should be no men in female spaces on the head eh?"

Men? Don't you mean transwomen?

Referring to transwomen as men. Oh dear. I'll see you at the Re-education Camp. I'm booked in for 2 months.

SlightAggrandising · 29/05/2018 10:31

Faith spectacularly missing the point there. Almost like you're doing it deliberately.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 10:33

They missed the fact that men attack women. It’s fucking clear as day and they glossed over it. Why doesn’t anyone ever think why we have women only spaces.

It's because as with Munroe Bergdorf going off on one at Sarah Ditum in Genderquake, any mention of this as a male violence issue will be misrepresented as Transphobia and media is scared to say they are men.

SwearyG · 29/05/2018 10:33

Oh Faith bog off.

There have been plenty of instances of men claiming to be trans or dressing as women to access women’s spaces and attack them. But hey, it’s only women isn’t it. Or it’s only small numbers because there’s a tipping point for people like you when it comes to women attacked as collateral damage. I think one woman being attacked is too many.

The police don’t deal with men in the ladies pond, the women are told to pipe down. Why is that? Why do the police come to the men’s pool, where men aren’t at risk because women generally aren’t dangerous, but don’t to the women’s pool where women are at risk?

No it doesn’t knock any such argument on the head at all. It shows that when women enter men’s spaces they don’t want us there. Like we don’t want men there. It’s not just about potential assault, it’s about having spaces away from the male gaze and away from the expectations of behaviour forced on us by the opposite sex (both ways).

Calling us bigots is childish. You’re clearly not considering anyone else’s viewpoint here, just your own narrow view. I wonder whether that might be seen as bigoted. Hmm

boatyardblues · 29/05/2018 10:33

They did say that some women feel unsafe in mixed spaces. They did say that women's rights still have some way to go. I think there were some good points made & they helped hit some of the points the DM missed.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 10:33

Referring to transwomen as men. Oh dear. I'll see you at the Re-education Camp. I'm booked in for 2 months.

Grin i missed that!

OldCrone · 29/05/2018 10:38

So you managed to go into a "safe space" packed with men, and managed to get away with not being raped/assaulted/perved on, and when there was a problem the police arrived and dealt with it according to law.

So transwomen would be quite safe there - no need to invade the women's areas.

SwearyG · 29/05/2018 10:39

I think they made it sound like women are paranoid though boatyard. They didn’t say that some men attack women in mixed sex spaces. I wish we could make men responsible for male violence.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 29/05/2018 10:40

This bloke is the reason why protected spaces for women are important.

"When asked why his victims were women, he said: "Just hate 'em."

Denyer was described in court as a narcissistic sadist who was a danger to all women.

In a letter obtained by the Herald Sun, Denyer said he killed because he didn't feel like a man."

Well spotted Popchyk

Kind of knocks the argument as to why there should be no men in female spaces on the head eh?

Who's suggesting men in female spaces? You are, that's who. Well done for admitting it. Now, we are agreed. Transwomen are men, could you explain again why they should be welcome in female spaces?

athingthateveryoneneeds · 29/05/2018 10:45

Awaiting @FaithSeed 's reply with baited breath.

Perhaps that is unwise....

FaithSeed · 29/05/2018 10:46

*There have been plenty of instances of men claiming to be trans or dressing as women to access women’s spaces and attack them

Really, how many in the UK?

The police don’t deal with men in the ladies pond, the women are told to pipe down. Why is that?

Were the "pigs" (lovely expression, you're so badass) called when there were men in the ladies pond?

IndominusRex · 29/05/2018 10:46

Sweary I love you.

DickTERFin · 29/05/2018 10:48

Well the police were called because some of the male men were allegedly getting a bit aggro - so, not so much, no.
