You are deliberately missing the point. Men are dangerous to women and other men. In the UK women are 80-88% of the victims of rape and sexual assault. And men are the perpetrators 99% of the time.
Here's your reference: www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/sexualoffencesinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2017

Men who identify as women are not different to other men in their rates of violence.

I don't think women should have to argue a case for why they want some sex segregated spaces. We fought for them so we could participate fully in public life.

If men wish to invade those spaces it's up to them to demonstrate that they are no risk to women's safety, dignity and modesty. Because you want to, is no argument. And I make no apologies for modesty - it matters to many women for a wide variety of reasons.

I have shared a work bathroom with a transwomen, but she was a known colleague in a work environment. But even then, the expectation was that women would simply accept the situation - there was never any conversation about whether the men would budge over instead (and all the male equipment was intact for quite a long time).

Pro-tip: threatening violence against women because they won't use your pronouns or because they protest being silenced from discussing the issue, is not the way to start.

BiologyMatters · 29/05/2018 12:02

I don't care how likely the male next to me in the changing room/ hospital ward/ prison/ doing my smear test is to attack me. It's completely irrelevant . He could be the safest man in the world but I deserve to not be made to feel uncomfortable by a man in a women only space. I get enough of that out in the wide world. Don't try and use me to validate yourself.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 29/05/2018 12:03

So more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a trans woman.

I've never been struck by lightning. A TIM did receive a criminal conviction for violence against me.

SuitedandBooted · 29/05/2018 12:04

I've had a look at the comments section on the Mail.
It clearly demonstrates that plenty of people have NO IDEA about the proposed changes, and are somehow seeing it as a Feminist v men equality issue Confused. I imagine they are linking it to the pesky women asking to be allowed to play golf when they want etc!

Message to the TRA'S,
Ignorance is not support.
People being unaware of something does not mean they accept it.

I'm getting heartily sick of the "right side of history/most people support us" comments form Shon Faye and cronies.

Bollocks they do.

LangCleg · 29/05/2018 12:07

Ignorance is not support.

In fact, the more ignorance there is, the more vicious the backlash - because, when the inevitable crisis comes as it always does after the wholesale ignoring of safeguarding, everyone is looking to distance themselves and everyone is looking for a scalp that isn't them.

OldCrone · 29/05/2018 12:07

Look, I get it. It's really really hard to claim your oppressed as a white middle class woman living in England in 2018, and without seeing yourself as a victim, feminism doesn't have a lot to offer

I've seen this idea that feminism is all about being a victim from other anti-feminists. What makes you think feminism is about being a victim, FaithSeed?

GorgonLondon · 29/05/2018 12:08

We're not all white either, thanks Faith .

MipMipMip · 29/05/2018 12:12

At least one commentator has said she didn't know about the proposed changes and disagrees with it.

You're doing good work gentlemen. Slowly getting there.

December 2017
"The NHS has apologised to a woman who was left “embarrassed and distressed” after a nurse with stubble and a deep voice was going to carry out her cervical smear test at hospital. The woman requested a female NHS nurse to perform the intimate procedure but was dismayed when a staff member with “an obviously male appearance” greeted her. When the patient pointed out the mistake, the nurse replied: “My gender is not male. I’m a transsexual.”

"A Lancaster mum whose bi-polar disorder left her believing men were conspiring to kill her said she was left terrified when she was locked on a women’s psychiatric ward with an “extremely male-bodied” transgender patient. Philippa Molloy, 42, said she was “genuinely, absolutely terrified” because she had suffered a relapse in her condition that made her irrationally terrified of men – including her own husband."

FaithSeed
This thread is about women who self-id as men going into a men's changing room and pool. The men who complained were clearly not at risk from the women, but were uncomfortable with their presence. Are those men bigots? Or do you think they have a right to a male-only space?

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 29/05/2018 12:25

FaithSeed

If 2 examples arent enough, im curious to know how many women and girls being harmed would you be comfortable with as collateral damage.

This, but also what about all the women whose privacy, dignity and feeling of safety will be harmed by penis in their space? When you're so concerned about the feeling of validation for transwomen, what about the feeling of safety for biological women in female only spaces? Especially when most male on female sexual assaults are not even reported.

Just to be clear I.do.not.consent to men (XY) in female only spaces that I'm in or my daughters are in.

SarahAr · 29/05/2018 12:26

We had half a dozen women swimming

I stand corrected.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 12:27

The penny is gradually dropping with people. More awareness raising is key.

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 12:28

He could be the safest man in the world but I deserve to not be made to feel uncomfortable by a man in a women only space. I get enough of that out in the wide world. Don't try and use me to validate yourself.

Well said.

SarahAr · 29/05/2018 12:41

Because transwomen are men. And they retain the offending patterns of men, regardless of any hormonal or surgical intervention

This is not the case.
transadvocate.com/fact-check-study-shows-transition-makes-trans-people-suicidal_n_15483.htm

SarahAr · 29/05/2018 12:43

Right now someone female needs to complain about a man in the women’s pond

That’s my plan for the summer, Bowlofbabelfish. I have the time and inclination to go and stalk the ladies pond every day if needs be.

So the idea is to ambush a transwomen going about her lawful business swimming in the Hampstead Ponds and harass her to try to make a political point.

This makes me feel sick.

busyboysmum · 29/05/2018 12:44

The comments on the Daily Mail article are split between support for the women's actions and misunderstanding of why they are doing it. I've not seen one comment saying "TW are women". No-one actually believes that they are.

AgonyBeetle · 29/05/2018 12:44

It’s bizarre how many apparently intelligent men have genuine trouble with the concept of a woman saying ‘No’ to them.

No, I don’t want to date you.
No, I don’t want to see your penis.
No, I don’t want to smile when you tell me to.
No, I don’t want you doing my smear test.
No, I don’t want you in my changing room.

No. We said No. it’s. It not a difficult concept. I don’t need to justify why I don’t want you watching me when I get changed, or why I don’t want to smile nicely for you.

Man says No, and everybody takes that seriously. Woman says No, and everybody says, Oh but what about...

Fuck. That. Shit.

UpstartCrow · 29/05/2018 12:45

Jewish and Muslim women can't use the Women's Pond if biological men are in there.

busyboysmum · 29/05/2018 12:46

And the TW should be swimming in the mixed pond. Why would someone go where they are clearly not wanted? Leave single sex spaces single sex. They should be reported to the police every time and asked to leave as the ManFriday blokes were.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 12:47

So the idea is to ambush a transwomen going about her lawful business swimming in the Hampstead Ponds and harass her to try to make a political point

No. The point is to complain, as the men complained in their pond.
The men complained because the Byelaws were being broken. The police arrived and removed the women swimming in the men’s pond

When women have complained that there are men in the women’s pond, no action has been taken. Why? The same byelaws are being broken, so no, our hypothetical transwoman is not going lawfully about his business.

If he wishes to swim, he may swim. In the mixed pond or the men’s. Because he is a man. And the byelaws say that’s where he goes.

Making a political point? Yes it is. Because when men are inconvenienced they call the police. When women are endangered they have not been able to do so.

Why should a man be able to swim in the women’s pond?

SleepFreeZone · 29/05/2018 12:52

Bravo ladies 👌

Really proud of you all on here. I was peaktransed months ago and finally the penny is starting to drop I think.

trumptrump · 29/05/2018 12:52

Sorry if this sounds goady, but isn't Hampstead Heath an area with many Jewish women? How have they responded to this?

IndominusRex · 29/05/2018 13:03

There's so much inflammatory language isn't there: ambush, attack, violence - all apparently meaning politely say no.
