Well done #ManFriday. Your action really helps to flush out the true issues here - there's a (assuming pronouns!) man commenting early on in your twitter feed saying he was there and men weren't supportive.

On his feed he retweets someone saying:

a) I don't recall Amy or SwearyG self-identifying as radical feminists. Seems yet again a broad brush slur.

b) Surely, in this case, you'd be defending TRANS MEN ARE MEN. 'Cos in the mad world of identity politics, surely what Man Friday have just done has more implication for one of the very quiet, very unobtrusive transmen who want to go for a swim in the pond of the gender/sex they identify with. Why the need to shout about trans women?

According to the byelaws there would be nothing stopping them going to the men's pond as women anyway. It says:

6. No male person over the age of 14 years shall go or attempt to go into any part of any open space in contravention of any regulation of the Council specified in a notice exhibited on such part reserving such part for the use of female persons and children under the age of 14 years only.

• but there's no equivalent byelaw banning female persons from areas reserved for male persons.

I wonder which bylaw they meant then, when they told the manfriday protestors that they had to leave the men's pond? Odd.

Yes, there seems to be a man's pond for biological men ( beings with a penis in case you were wondering), a mixed pond for anyone, with or without a penis/vagina and a woman's pond, for anyone with or without a penis or vagina as long as they identify as a woman.

So it's perfectly ok for a person with a male body who identifies as a women to go swimming at the women's pond, but it is not ok for a female bodied person who identifies as a man to go for a swim at the men's pond.

Rank hypocrisy.
