We welcome discussion and actually discussing what your stance with the opposing side can strengethen your position and even get people over to your side if you have a valid point to make (unless or course it's all based on belief only, in which case I can see why questions and evidence are threatening)
I've dipped my toes into other areas of the internet talking about trans issues and have come away quite shocked at the levels of actual transphobia. It's sickening. Mumsnet gets, ahem, robust at times but other trans people cope and I think in fact value being here.
