The more of this sort of shit floating around the better.

Women are waking up to what feminists have known for years.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:08

Hannah is of course entitled to have whatever opinion about Mumsnet she likes. From a recruiting perspective though, generally companies try to filter out applicants with loose cannon tendencies, and if there was already conflict about this issue while she was working here that should have been addressed. This kind of lashing out at a company a person used to work for is usually a sign that they left with a chip on their shoulder. Some people are essentially pre-chipped in any situation, but two in a row suggests that HR isn't handling either recruiting or exit procedures well.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 30/04/2018 12:08

It's a case of yet another dishonest activist.

It is naut

I will call her a traitor because I think she's a traitor to women SGB. If you think that's against the talk guidelines, report me.

Badgerthebodger · 30/04/2018 12:09

I am so fed up of seeing outright lies written. I don’t think calling her a traitor is appropriate but the whole article just filled me with rage. We are discussing Women’s rights. Nobody is saying trans women don’t exist. Nobody wants them to lose their rights. We just don’t want women’s rights to be shat on in the name of progesss and inclusivity. Very simple.

Wanderabout · 30/04/2018 12:09

... did I miss anything out?

DBS checks. DBS checks are transphobic don't forget.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 12:10

I agree with Xenia and the Countess.

Popchyk · 30/04/2018 12:10

That was quite tame really. Lots of accusations, no substance.

Straight from the India Willoughby School of Poor Writing Featuring Outrage and Froth.

Presumably Hannah fulfilled her internship to the end? And didn't quit out of principle when the full horror of the 'transphobia' became evident?

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 12:10

In fact, OP, would you consider editing the title?

nauticant · 30/04/2018 12:11

Yes, I'm also not on board with the word "traitor" and vetting opinions of potential employees.

MN can look at the social media presence of a potential employee and decide not to proceed with those that don't share the values of the website but that's as far as it should go.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 30/04/2018 12:11

scaremongering, bullshit, malice and wilful ignorance at the far end of both sides.

Honestly, you are free to write this about me if you like. I have no respect for your opinion however as you are exaggerating and resorting to unnecessary hyperbole.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:12

Suggesting that current employees be fired for their views is really not on, though. People can have whatever views they like, it's behavior that a company has some say over if you work for them.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 30/04/2018 12:12

She's a patronising wee boot.

I don't think Mumsnet is beyond change'

Arsehole.

ALittleBitOfButter · 30/04/2018 12:13

The website has seemingly found itself at the heart of an unfolding culture war: one where trans people’s lives, safety and security are up for debate

Good-oh. Chin chin Wine

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:14

A wee bit of an exaggeration problem she has there...

flowersonthepiano · 30/04/2018 12:14

@changeypants, which thread?

As LangCleg says, everything is transphobic according to some people, including the author of that article. Traitor though? Seriously? Person I vehemently disagree with and who doesn’t know wtf they’re talking about, but traitor? Nah. Agree we shouldn’t be demanding that people get fired for disagreeing with us.

changeypants · 30/04/2018 12:16

flowers the parkrun thread

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2018 12:17

'It’s possible, of course, that this is Mumsnet’s intention – to facilitate open and honest discussion,'

Yes. Which includes the views of Hannah. While a lot of that blog is simply inaccurate, I don't want MN to take sides, beyond supporting the right of women to discuss women's rights.

TinyRick · 30/04/2018 12:17

I like how they conveniently missed off exactly why we opposed Paris Lees speaking at a MN event...

Then again she did say to search for Lees on MN so that will expose to a wider audience why we did. Win?

JessicaJonesJacket · 30/04/2018 12:18

Posting it here has probably increased the readership numbers which is unfortunate from the pov of probably giving her more writing opportunities. But otoh, most people who read it will come down on the side of free speech and MNHQ.
Interesting misrepresentation of the data protection issue. It's almost as though trans activists can't properly identify facts.

SwearyG · 30/04/2018 12:19

It’s a pretty poorly researched piece isn’t it? So it’s hardly worth engaging too much with. I wish one of these millennial TWAW types would stop and ponder why we are discussing it and offer an alternative view other than burn the —witch— transphobe. It’s pretty bloody boring and superficial.

Thanks for the link @R0wantrees - it’s a great rebuttal to the allegations against ManFriday.

LangCleg · 30/04/2018 12:19

DBS checks. DBS checks are transphobic don't forget.

Oh yes, forgot that one.

Also: reality is transphobic!

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 12:20

Honestly, angry overgrown children throwing their toys out of the pram in public this way actually works in our favor in the long run. How well do you think this person comes across to the impartial observer? I mean, I've worked for some fucked up companies, but when you're describing your former workplace as if it's a cross between the Killing Fields and a Trump rally, and that workplace is a website catering to mothers, the average person may conclude that you're just a teensy bit unhinged. And wonder if that's the case for others who share your views.

nauticant · 30/04/2018 12:20

Anyway, this from twitter explains what the real purpose of the article is:

My mentions haven't been this lit since I called Batman Forever out for being the cinematic masterpiece it is

Freespeecher · 30/04/2018 12:20

I see the writer believes that the MN boards have become nothing short of echo chambers.

I wonder if her problem is with echo chambers per se or just the 'wrong type' of echo chamber.

flowersonthepiano · 30/04/2018 12:20

thanks changey
Smile

that does seem rather over-zealous...
