Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Is feminism inherently sexist? Anybody for human rights anymore?

Feminism appears to only ever advocate for women's rights alone, even when we mention gender equality it is immediately presumed that it's an issue where women are in need of support and empowerment.
Is that not inherently sexist, solely focusing on the rights of only a subset of our species, why are we not advocating for human rights anymore?
There are at least 6 separate organisations where I work that advocate for gender equality and/or diversity and/or women's rights, and every one of them is focused on women's rights. Where I work females out perform and out number men, I don't understand how I'm suppose to be at an advantage because I'm a man, and there's not a single group I can go to for support as none of those groups are willing to offer me any of their services.
I'm all for human rights and consider myself an individualist where people should be awarded things on merit, but even when trying to pose questions in what should be a critical thinking environment I get branded a sexist and a misogynist. Without anyone acknowledging and critiquing my ideas, I'm personally attacked and disregarded, is that because I'm a man?

Anyway, I gracefully bow out. I used to be like you and I'm so glad I decided to hear the other sides arguments. You will never have your mind changed by an internet post because I never did. Hope you all have a lovely evening 😛

Believe it or not men care about their mothers and sisters and daughters and didn't want them to die

I'm sure they did.

I'm sure women also cared very much about their fathers, sons and brothers who had to fight and didn't want them to die either. However that was tough shit because men still had to fight and those women couldn't do a thing about it.

This was all before feminism.

Oh dear.

Not that men are evil and out to get them and made women into victims.

Gosh.

NotTerfNorCis · 20/04/2018 00:22

It wasn't the disenfranchised women making that choice.

Well exactly.

MRA logic:

When women are exempt from the army, they're lazy parasites who don't deserve the vote.

When women fight in wars, they're 'cannon fodder' who share none of the glory of their male comrades.

What is you want, MRAs? An end to war? You'd get a lot of feminist support on that.

Blackcurrent tea is NOTHING LIKE RIBENA.

NKFell · 20/04/2018 00:23

greymisty Grin I like it! Fuck donkeyarchy!

I think the anti suffrage movement were lots of people like you to be honest Antislut. Like I said before much like the “All Lives Matter” crowd. Blind that problems exist that need tackling head on not as part of a blanket Human Rights campaign. I speak as a black feminist who deals with both issues, separately and together.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:23

You are so pro women

Thank you Smile

you think they were dumb enough to think they thought they were too dumb to vote in the 1900s.

Wow.

NKFell · 20/04/2018 00:24

Eurgh I hate fruit teas...I miss that thread.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 20/04/2018 00:24

@AornisHades

Fruit teas?!!! Burn the witch!

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:24

You should all try choco tea. It's basically chocolate and tea in one.

Antislut · 20/04/2018 00:25

I'm not a men's rights activist for the record. Im just not a feminist and find the argumentation from you guys hilarious. I'm new to mum's net and find it absolutely hilarious with all the trans stuff that's going on that some of you are actually making the arguments from the right wing. We'd probably agree on some things. Just not feminism.

NKFell · 20/04/2018 00:25

Could you make it with tea and hot chocolate? Grin

Greymisty · 20/04/2018 00:25

I have tried chocolate tea....

It's a bit of a starch to call it chocolate tea and o.m.g it's expensive was ok to good though.

Greymisty · 20/04/2018 00:26

Screw the donkeyarchy NKfell! Lol.

Antislut · 20/04/2018 00:26

I wouldn't have been on the anti suffragette side, I'd have been on the suffragette side, like I said I used to be a feminist. 🙈

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:26

I'm new to mum's net

Clearly.

Greymisty · 20/04/2018 00:27

*stretch not starch....starch would be silly

NowtSalamander · 20/04/2018 00:28

Don’t you just get chocolate tea if you dip your kit Kat a bit more slowly than usual?

Antislut · 20/04/2018 00:28

What do you mean by that? Should i tow the party line that you're a feminist on MN. Seems like many of the feminists on here don't tow the party line when it comes to trans activists and you aren't happy when you get censored and defamed.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:29

This is the choco tea I drink. No idea if there are any other brands of choco/chocolate tea but I'm sure there are.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:29

Shock What kind of monster dips biscuits in tea?

AornisHades · 20/04/2018 00:31

Oh fgs you said you were bowing out. Don't keep coming back. That's a bit daft.

NKFell · 20/04/2018 00:31

But antislut saying you would have been on the women’s suffrage side because you used to be a feminist sounds like you may have then regretted it. You just sound like you can’t see that women have some specific issues that need a women’s movement I.e feminism to try to fix it.

Antislut · 20/04/2018 00:32

I was bowing out with my arguments. Not from the thread. I was trying to be cordial! 😂

NKFell · 20/04/2018 00:33

Oh I might try Choco Tea...(my phone autocorrects to ‘Chico tea’ Grin)

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 20/04/2018 00:33

Would you like some tea @Antislut? Smile
