It's going to be amazing. Please come.

A famous trans activist is coming. Film crews (yes more than one). Feminist royalty. This event is a game changer.

So Monroe was actually inside?

SlightAggrandising · 19/04/2018 21:23

According to twitter MB was inside

ijustwannadance · 19/04/2018 21:23

Because they can't back up with anything other than random/false stats and mis-appropriated language.

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 21:24

Sheila Jeffreys ❤️✊🏼

I really hope one day the people outside will come inside and respectfully discuss with the people inside.

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 21:26

I missed the first half, does anyone know if it will be available to watch in full?

BrashCandicoot · 19/04/2018 21:29

Once the broadcast has ended you should be able to watch the whole thing Triple.

I don't think Free Speech society guy knew what he was getting into.

Trumpdump · 19/04/2018 21:29

Yay! Magdalen is there and ranting! Love her! Smile

Trumpdump · 19/04/2018 21:30

I can't see Julie Bindel? Is she not one of the speakers?

heateallthebuns · 19/04/2018 21:36

Why are young women allies of tra?

theaveragewife · 19/04/2018 21:38

Inherent empathy and the increase in trigger warnings (specifically tumblr given as an example) giving them the false idea that they need to protect people from speech about hate speech.

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 21:41

Brash

Thanks.

I'm so glad that people outside of the 'trans debate bubble' got wind of the no platforming and felt strongly enough form a group. I hope they're taken seriously.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/04/2018 21:59

I couldn’t get the link to work, didn’t think of going through Facebook and trying again. Will it be available to view some other way ?

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 19/04/2018 21:59

Wow, fucking awesome women

Loved it.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 19/04/2018 21:59

LOL - it was great following on live chat - as a clear, un mic'ed voice from the back started speaking and we were all 'is that magdalene!'

Fantastic. I hope I can get to a meeting one day.

Trumpdump · 19/04/2018 22:02

I hope so! I want to see Munroe's flounce!

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 19/04/2018 22:02

I feel like I just had a massive feminist orgasm.

Voice0fReason · 19/04/2018 22:02

I hope the recording is posted so that I can watch it later.

RealityHasALiberalBias · 19/04/2018 22:04

Managed to watch as of the q&a, I hope the vid is available to watch from the start.

How many more meetings are planned and where? I’d love to go to one.

HopScotchy · 19/04/2018 22:05

So proud of all those making space for women to speak in the face of all the attempts to cut us off from each other. The meeting organisers, speakers, venues, Mumsnet, the growing number of journalists, and every single woman using these spaces to speak. We will not be silent about women's rights.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/04/2018 22:05

Interesting that there were two film crews there, one (both?) of them with Munroe Bergdorf who was inside for a bit and then apparently stormed out. Surely it will be obvious who was being aggressive and violent? The people attending the meeting didn't turn up with masks over their faces, as far as I can see.

I've just read through the live Twitter feed from @Bristol_Jane and various other tweets from people who are there, many of whom say it was frightening (Julie Bindel included). Strict police checks on who got into the venue and even so one activist tried to burst in. I don't understand why the police didn't do more, but I suppose I'm getting a one-sided view.

All of which makes an absolute mockery of these idiotic Tweets from a transgender poet.

I am having to organise cis friends to walk concerned trans people home the night the transphobes come to Bristol. People are scared.

I know a trans guy who lives literally around the corner from the venue and he's worried he can't take his dog out for a walk that night.

If you know anyone trans in Bristol offer to walk them home the night of the 19th. They might not have told you they're worried, but I bet they'll take you up on the offer.

I mentioned I was sorting an escort for one friend who'd come to me and now suddenly I'm inundated.

Fantastic to watch the whole meeting live & huge thanks to all involved, those who attended and contributed.

This needs to be opened up... once people are able to hear this they can make up their own minds. Up until now most haven't even realised there was #nodebate!

whitehandledkitchenknife · 19/04/2018 22:06

So many sheroes in the room.
Amazing to watch.
Thank you to all the beautiful feisty women.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 19/04/2018 22:07

Transteria takes hold in Brizzol

ApplesinmyPocket · 19/04/2018 22:11

It was fantastic to be able to see some of that. Wonderful, brave, calm, funny women.

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 22:13

I feel like I just had a massive feminist orgasm.Grin

Loved the way at midpoint the camera turned around onto Magdalen Berns at the back of the room holding court and propping up the bar.
