It's going to be amazing. Please come.

A famous trans activist is coming. Film crews (yes more than one). Feminist royalty. This event is a game changer.

Just found where this is being broadcast live. Obviously some transactivists are trying to disrupt it:

This is quite extraordinary, I can feel the tension through the broadcast.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:02

It is so cool we can watch this live.

BrashCandicoot · 19/04/2018 20:03

It is! I'm watching

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:06

Julie Bindel
@bindelj
"Protesters are screaming outside ‘Trans women are women’ and ‘terfs off our turf’. They are beyond aggressive, spoilt, privileged posh identifarians."

I really don't understand how they've managed to cast themselves as the underprivileged oppressed. It's a joke.

AnitaLovesVictor · 19/04/2018 20:08

I'm watching! Glad the Simone de Beauvoir quote is being debunked.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:17

Miranda yardley doing great so far. Love their bit on marriage :D

HerFemaleness · 19/04/2018 20:29

Excellent point made by Nicole GIRES say 1% population is gender non-conforming to some extent, do they seriously believe 99% of the population are totally conforming?

RealityHasALiberalBias · 19/04/2018 20:30

Will there be a recording of this somewhere? Not on Facebook.

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 20:32

"The only time trans men are in the public eye is when they get pregnant"

This is so true.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:32

I've not heard of Nicola before today, she is making a lot of sense. Talking about trigger warnings and tumblr atm.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:33

I don't use Facebook either but you can watch this from a desktop without being signed in (wouldn't work from my phone)

theaveragewife · 19/04/2018 20:37

I'd never thought of why young women are TRA allies before, makes sense indeed!

AnitaLovesVictor · 19/04/2018 20:38

That was a powerful speaker (Nicola?)

Made so much sense.

HerFemaleness · 19/04/2018 20:40

Posie's double entendre Grin

MrsUnderwood · 19/04/2018 20:41

I can’t get the Facebook live stream to work on iPad :(

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:42

Posie reading out TA threats to 'terfs'. Very effective. I've not heard lots read out loud together like that before.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:43

Posie is brilliant.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/04/2018 20:46

I can’t get it either and I really want to watch it.

pombear · 19/04/2018 20:47

I've only just followed the livestream, so I can't comment yet on previous speakers, but Posie, listening to your speech and seeing your bravery for speaking out on this issue, I am very impressed.

These are the issues that many of us feel that noone is listening to us on.

These are incredibly important issues.

We are being pushed to silence. So many of us will not be silenced. Even if we can't do this in ways Posie is doing, we will do this.

Thank you Posie, and to all those speaking, and attending tonight's event.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:47

Posie is talking about Mumsnet now

ScarletBegonias · 19/04/2018 20:47

I couldn't get the link to work. But going into Facebook then searching for Jam Jar Bristol took me straight to the live stream.

HopScotchy · 19/04/2018 20:48

You can follow live tweeting with #weneedtotalk if you can't get the stream.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 19/04/2018 20:49

Thank you so much for the live stream link - watching now - I'm a 1000 miles away, and am unlikely to make any meeting in the UK, and it's great to be able to see these speakers.

RosenbergW · 19/04/2018 20:50

Posie said re: Emma saying she still had friends on the inside here, the threat of that, is terrorism. It is.

Q&A about to start.
