It's going to be amazing. Please come.

A famous trans activist is coming. Film crews (yes more than one). Feminist royalty. This event is a game changer.

I deliberately never swear on twitter.

therealposieparker · 22/04/2018 15:26

I have to say I was aghast when my leg looked twenty times the size of my face!! I tried to move but nothing worked...

Posie Grin

Goddess spare us from unflattering camera angles Wink ... it didn't though - you looked fab.

During Heather's speech - it looked like you all felt on edge - like the TAs could burst in any time. It's a crazy situation.

GingerMcGrey · 22/04/2018 16:00

I just saw this by Miranda Yardley about what happened after the meeting; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7LbLAnKGrXQ

Also, Sisters Uncut Bristol were the people who organised the demonstration outside, a supposedly feminist group. Their self congratulatory post on Facebook is full of lies basically, I think I believe Magdalen Berns' video over this;

Sisters Uncut Bristol
"Massive well done and thanks to everyone who came out last night.

We are pleased that we managed to delay the event, and interrupt it several times.

All this, despite being physically assaulted by TERFs (including staff from the jam jar who have claimed to be all about “peaceful discussion”), cops and security a constant stream of verbally abusive hate speech from those attending the event.

At an event that claimed to be all about safe space for women, it’s worth noting that most of the physical violence enacted against us was by cis men.

We are strong together and we will not let TERFs have a platform in Bristol. To be neutral is to side with the oppressors, and such people are not welcome in our community.

Trans women are women

💜🔥💚"

GingerMcGrey · 22/04/2018 16:02

Sorry if it's not clear, the YouTube video is Miranda, she said they were trapped inside after the meeting.

comaawakening · 22/04/2018 16:25

I have watched those videos and I am aghast. I genuinely feel like I have been in a coma for 20 years and have woken in an unrecognisable world. A world where women are opposed, intimidated and silenced for wanting to meet and discuss how a social shift and proposed legislation will impact on women/ girls. How can it be happening that masked people (an awful lot of them men) are preventing women from meeting politically on issues affecting them and our politicians are staying silent?

How can these masked men seriously not understand what they are doing? How can they pretend to themselves that this is 'peaceful protest' rather than the clear harassment and intimidation to silence women that is actually is? How can that man be so unaware of what he is doing that he says ' please don't take this personally'. You are preventing women from meeting and discussing issues affecting them - how can that not be personal? How can you be so unaware of what you are doing? How can you be so unaware that you are using your male body and strength and size to physically prevent women having political discussions about their own lives? Why do you feel you have the right to dictate to women what issues it is 'acceptable' for them to discuss about their own lives? How can you not see that this is deeply misogynistic?

And that woman, outside with the banner saying, ' I want to reassure you that it is safe for you to leave', How can she pretend to herself that she is a nice, 'caring;' person for saying this? How can she not see that she is part of spreading fear, harassment and intimidation to silence women?
It is a collective mass of lack of self insight!

I genuinely don't know what the solution is to balancing the rights of protections of women/ girls and transpeople. But I do know it is a real issue, with legitimate arguments on both sides and the debate needs to be had honestly and respectfully.

AnitaLovesVictor · 22/04/2018 16:29

And someone just posted on the MN twitter:

I think YOU have a male problem. What is it like living with so much hatred towards 50% of the population?

This is exactly a men's rights movement. We're being gaslighted and shamed, called bigots, for wanting to preserves female only spaces.

As though all that male violence just never happens...

comaawakening · 22/04/2018 16:36

I am reminded of a cartoon showing two german soldiers in the second world war and one turns to the other and says, 'Hans, are we the bad guys?'
Hint to the Jam Jar protestors, if you wearing masks and physically preventing women from meeting and talking, you are probably the bad guys.

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 16:42

How can these masked men seriously not understand what they are doing? How can they pretend to themselves that this is 'peaceful protest' rather than the clear harassment and intimidation to silence women that is actually is?

Same as all narcissistic abusers. It is a common tactic.

Howyoualldoworkme · 22/04/2018 17:18

TERFragetteCity I was locked out of Twitter at almost the same time and I was posting on a thread with a particularly unflattering photo.
Never happened to me before and I've had an active Twitter account for many years!
Hmmmm Hmm

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 17:30

I've just checked and the Kiri Tunks post is gone.

Gosh, who knew that saying I could do woodwork in a dress and still be female would be so controversial?

Howyoualldoworkme · 22/04/2018 17:42

I mentioned full length mirrors Grin

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 17:54

Lol.

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 17:55

The mer-fans seem to have amazing powers don't they?

Howyoualldoworkme · 22/04/2018 18:03

Just checking in Twitter now and it seems to be happening quite often.
And I'm just an inoffensive little old lady as well Grin

busyboysmum · 22/04/2018 18:10

I got locked out of Twitter last night as well. Never happened before. The tweet I got locked out for I didn't think was in any way abusive.

spontaneousgiventime · 22/04/2018 18:16

I've posted all the video's and they've been retweeted quite a bit. I'm not locked out (yet). No doubt it will come.

NotTerfNorCis · 22/04/2018 18:19

TRAs are claiming feminists have been harassing trans people into suicide. Is there any actual evidence of that anywhere? I'm betting no. If anything, that kind of claim is hate speech in itself.

R0wantrees · 22/04/2018 18:23

The propaganda from some TRAs will I'm sure be causing many people who are transgender great distress.
There is such a need for understanding and investigating this.

theaveragewife · 22/04/2018 21:23

Erm, I shared the video on my fab and it appears to have been removed by jam jar - anyone know what's happened there?

theaveragewife · 22/04/2018 21:23

Fab = fb

thebewilderness · 22/04/2018 21:55

This morning the transgender identifiend males spox for Misters Uncut explained hat the transgender identified males never go to these terrorist actions against women's rights because their mental health is too fragile. The send what they call their cis allies to harass women who try to meet to discuss women's rights.
That is good to know that the masked terrorists are not actual transgender identified males who might be triggered by being told no by a woman.

Trumpdump · 23/04/2018 00:51

I too was locked out of Twitter and made to provide a phone number... I hadn't swore or even posted anything? Only 'liked' a few gender critical posts. Confused

Pratchet · 23/04/2018 05:54

I think our phones can be hacked by
TRA who cross check us with our Facebook profiles if we have the app

Pratchet · 23/04/2018 05:54

I don't look at fb on my phone on purpose
