Labour Party confirm that all women shortlists are open to anyone who IDs as a woman

They did not consult as promised, they did not discuss. They just decided.

Jennifer James has instructed her solicitors.

Fuck the Labour Party. That is the final nail in the coffin for me. Anyone got any ideas about how best to spoil the ballot next month?

I couldn't see a thread about this so apologies if there's already one started!

Bloody hell.

I was thinking of drawing a cock and balls on my ballot paper and writing "No penises on women's shortlists, no penises in women's spaces".

TurningTables · 17/04/2018 13:57

What a way to lose more votes. They simply don't have any interest in women, girls, transsexuals, the disabled or gay children or anyone struggling. This is all about getting their authoritarian ideology into the young.

I feel ashamed I voted for Corbyn last year.

summerinthecountry · 17/04/2018 14:01

Oh wow. Final straw

Popchyk · 17/04/2018 14:02

Good.

I'm glad.

Brings it all out into the open again. Where it should be.

It is an odd move from Jennie Formby and Labour.

They were supposed to STFU until after the May elections. What was the point of the whole "We'll report back in June" thing then?

SpareRibFem · 17/04/2018 14:03

This makes all women shortlists a sham, maybe we need to campaign against all women shortlists, let the transwomen candidates compete against male candidates. It would be interesting to see if men are willing to give up their chance for a seat for a transwoman in the way they are asking women to

MsMcWoodle · 17/04/2018 14:03

I cannot tell you how much I hate these misogynists. I used to vote Labour too.

TurningTables · 17/04/2018 14:04

What was the outcome when the man used self-ID to go onto some BAME youth position, was it because his StepMother was BAME?

OvaHere · 17/04/2018 14:05

I suspect the solicitors hired on the back of the fundraiser has forced their hand. I understand that JJ instructed them to write several letters asking for clarification of their position. They will have had to respond to this.

KittTheCar · 17/04/2018 14:06

Blimey.

I am glad she is continuining with this as from previous threads it does sound illegal.

And it makes no sense. What about non binary people etc? So as with GG - the women's posts are for feminine people, which is fucking weird. There is no need to increase representation for feminine people.

TurningTables · 17/04/2018 14:08

If you are unaware Justine made it clear in general you can state biological fact. If for example someone on this thread wanted to discuss LM or HP, they will delete a personal attack regarding biology of that person.

WhereYouLeftIt · 17/04/2018 14:23

It does sound very much as if Labour want to dismantle All Women Shortlists. Presumably it does not suit them that more women are elected.

Fine. This woman will not be electing any Labour candidates. The party no longer represents me, and that actually hurts. Sad.

BarrackerBarmer · 17/04/2018 14:26

Sorry TurningTables, can you clarify?

You CAN state biological fact, but you CA N'Tstate biological fact about a person? Is that what you meant?

So
"People with XY chromosomes are male = ok"
"person Z has XY chromosomes and so is male = not ok"?

Is that what you meant?

TurningTables · 17/04/2018 14:28

Yes that is my understanding.

OlennasWimple · 17/04/2018 14:40

I'd love to see the legal advice that the Labour Party have received, because I can't see how this isn't a cut and dried case of illegal action

It will be the end of AWS, I suspect, which many lefty bros will not mourn one bit

Greymisty · 17/04/2018 14:42

Corbyn promised to meet with Linda Bellos as well and hasn't.

BrashCandicoot · 17/04/2018 14:42

That's what I took from it Barracker. Generalised statement of fact = fine. Naming names = not so much.

My head tells me to stick it out so I get the chance to vote on things. My gut says to quit the party because they really don't give a shit what your average traditional Labour voter thinks. Middle class, lefty, commie-come-latelies who like to patronisingly talk about workers/watch Kez.

CackleCrackle · 17/04/2018 14:46

it's not really a surprise given JC's previous statements. I've given up the fight for labour.

BarrackerBarmer · 17/04/2018 14:47

See, that wasn't my understanding, and now I'm confused.
Personal attacks and meanness, of course no.

But reference to the publicly known sex of a person? Forbidden? Even if they reference it themselves?

I wish MNHQ would clarify this.

Havoc · 17/04/2018 14:52

I wish MNHQ would clarify this.

It would be useful.

I would also love to know what labour's definition of 'women' is. Also, what do they call adult human females?

LangCleg · 17/04/2018 14:53

Glad I left.

I shan't be voting for science-denying authoritarians any time soon and, in a way, I'm glad they've doubled down on it. Now we all know where we stand and that Labour is not a party for women and girls.

Now to get the fools to accept that I've actually left, won't be coming back, and they need to hurry up and remove my data instead of continuing to email me when I've told them not to.

TurningTables · 17/04/2018 14:54

Also, what do they call adult human females?

Going by the LAT FB group, Cunts.
