The daily star is apparently reporting that Ian Huntley is now going by 'Nicola'.
Jeremy Vine has tweeted it so it might be covered on his show tomorrow.

Isn’t that the name of one of his victims’ mothers?

I don’t know whether to dismiss it because it’s the Star or give JV some credit for journalistic standards, TBH.

IndominusRex · 08/04/2018 19:57

Oh that's horrid if it is.

Beyond grim.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 08/04/2018 20:41

That is sickening

Springtrolls · 08/04/2018 20:48

Just hope his personal guard is distracted for 10 minutes or so.

I would have thought it's possible to disallow the use of that name by the prison service if a psychologist pointed out that its probably a form of control by Huntley over his victim's family.
It's absolutely cruel.

I agree, surely prisoners should not be able to continue to distress their victims while in prison.

In cases like this I think it's reasonable not to indulge the prisoner unless gender dysphoria is diagnosed.

missbonita · 09/04/2018 10:52

FFS pls let this not be true

Truscum · 09/04/2018 10:55

This has made me feel so sick, how dare he!

This can’t be allowed, surely? It’s a form of control and abuse and he should not be allowed to keep hurting those poor families from behind bars.

DonkeySkin · 09/04/2018 11:05

Are you saying you think Huntley should be indulged if he did have a diagnosis of 'gender dysphoria'?

Plenty of sexually deranged violent male criminals have managed to obtain one, and some have been transferred to women's prisons on that basis, despite the clear threat they pose to female prisoners, and despite there being no evidence that any man can 'feel like' a woman inside.

turnipfarmers · 09/04/2018 11:07

I saw his name in the subject line and wished it said he was dead.
He makes the lowest of the low look beyond reproach.

HabituallyOptimistic · 09/04/2018 11:09

He's been living as Lianne for some time now.

Battleax · 09/04/2018 11:09

He really is a worm.

The best thing I can say about it is it might open some eyes.

Awful for the families, though, especially Nicola Wells.

mousedahousecat · 09/04/2018 11:13

So Huntley has changed name from Lianne to Nicola?? Riiiight.

What are the chances of their release from prison? Am I right in thinking that under GGUK's current policy, Nicola/Lianne could apply to become a volunteer, not have to disclose that they're trans-identifying, and because of that not have to disclose that they actually brutally murdered two Brownies aged girls?

Vickxy · 09/04/2018 11:27

Thats really awful if true. Last I heard he was going by Lian

Popchyk · 09/04/2018 11:28

But isn't this going to become much more common?

Nobody is going to self-identify as a murderer, rapist or pervert, are they? The trans ideology gives evil bastards the route out of that.

You can "become" someone else and leave the murderer/rapist behind. Simple. And you also get to change your name and hide your past crimes. And the reason that you committed these crimes in the first place? Because of your transgender identity and the oppression of society innit? You committed these crimes because you are really a woman.

You turn from villain to heroine.

HabituallyOptimistic · 09/04/2018 11:53

Yes, Lian rather than Lianne.
Perhaps someone so high profile showing it for what it is may make others sit up and listen?

What a vile scumbag this man is.

I can say categorically changing your name will not hide his past in a criminal record check (and heck the one he did get was screwed as it is). There is a sensitive pvg/dbs or whatever so previous names can be checked without the employer knowing.

I would have in solitary confinement for the rest of his life, never mind transferred to a womens jail. Shudder the very though.

mousedahousecat · 09/04/2018 14:45

@hesterton you do. The issue with GGUK's trans policy is that if you say you're a woman they accept that, so if, using Huntly as an example, "Nicola Huntly" applied to become a volunteer, she wouldn't have to declare that she is trans, she wouldn't have to declare that she is actually Ian Huntly, so IH's crimes wouldn't appear on a police check for a NH. I'm happy to be corrected on this but this is one of the most startling "unintended consequences" that I took from one of the last GGUK threads.

HabituallyOptimistic · 09/04/2018 15:30

Will s/he be transferred to a women's prison?
