Maybe we should let lid know who shops at lidl.

It's us. Not blue haired teenagers.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 23/03/2018 19:48

Space alien?
Sea monster?
Spooky ghoul?

Maybe all kinds of entities are filling out surveys these days.

I agree OP...I see this nonsense all the time these days!

MacaroonMama · 23/03/2018 19:53

But they didn’t ask for gender!!! Woo hoo!!!

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 23/03/2018 20:08

You need an 'other' category for intersex people who don't consider themselves m/f

KittyMcKitty · 23/03/2018 20:09

Yay to no mention of gende Smile

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 20:46

What is wrong with that?

I am getting increasingly pissed off by this one-track mumsnet take on trans.

There is nothing wrong with having an other category.

The existence of trans people does not negate or belittle women or women's experience of opression.

Ffs.

I feel like people wirh more moderate views are being cut out on here bu other women. Yay ro the sisterhood, eh?!

I dunno @zzzzz but I strongly suspect someone will be along in a minute to tell us how we have got everything wrong

Freshlylaidterf · 23/03/2018 20:59

Goodness Ragusa what an agressive post. Why bother to read the board if the comments upset you so much?

JellySlice · 23/03/2018 21:04

Ha Grin I meant to post this on Site Stuff.

Male, Female, Prefer not to say, would have been completely adequate and inclusive.

OP posts:
wildduckhunt · 23/03/2018 21:18

At least they didn't use gender!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/03/2018 21:20

It's better than the MN one in that it doesn't mention gender.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 23/03/2018 21:23

Remember the Jedi answer to religion in the census. We are going down that road.

In 2001 there was a campaign to encourage people to answer the question with Jedi, and around 330,000 did so. But the force is apparently on the wane by 2011 with only 176,632 describing themselves as Jedi Knights

Hmm, doesn't really bother me. As you could be male, female, or a transperson and prefer to put that instead.
Now if they'd have said "cis" or " non cis" woman, I'd have got the rage and wanted to fling my phone across the room Grin
(Not to mention wanting to put myself on my first ever boycott and then where would I go for my yummy pastries?!)

CadyHeron · 23/03/2018 21:26

We should focus on fighting the battles which encroach on woman only territory or child safeguarding and leave stuff like this alone

Agree with this Smile

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 21:36

@frsshlylaidterf aggressive? Do you mean because I swore in an unladylike manner??

That is kind of the whole point. I feel totally unwelcome on this board and I am just as much as a feminist as you are.

Personally I think the likes of LM are silly, inflammatory and illogical. But I hate the anti-trans stuff on here. Seems like there's no place on here for people like me. Yeah, I could stop reading but why should I feel I have to?

Terftastic · 23/03/2018 21:39

I was going to say, at least they didn't go with gender.

I like 'other' - I may start ticking the other box.

'Other, please specify' would be even better - then I can make up my own gender. Female is just so boring now.

Ragusa · 23/03/2018 21:41

How would 'prefer not to say' be all-inclusive exactly?
A person may consider themselves neither male nor female. They may be biologically intersex. And they may prefer to shout it from the rooftops. Why should they have to pretend they prefer not to say??

thebewilderness · 23/03/2018 21:45

I am sure the other must be for the Enby Non Binary because everyone know that transgenders are whatever they say they are. Under penalty of mob harassment.

CadyHeron · 23/03/2018 21:46

Enby non binary Confused I'm in a permanent state of Confused lately with all these bizarre terms.

HangtheblessedDJ · 23/03/2018 21:47

There's nothing wrong there.

I'm sure you'll find yourself to be afeared though OP. Why waste an opportunity to whip up hate fuelled fear mongering?

thebewilderness · 23/03/2018 21:49

Personally I think the likes of LM are silly, inflammatory and illogical. But I hate the anti-trans stuff on here. Seems like there's no place on here for people like me. Yeah, I could stop reading but why should I feel I have to?

Conversely, why do you think everyone else should change their world view to make you comfy here? Or do you just like to complain about people failing to live up to your unrealistic exectations and so this is the perfect place for you?

thebewilderness · 23/03/2018 21:50

That should be expectations.

Palavra · 23/03/2018 21:50

Who cares. It’s a survey not an erosion of women’s rights. If someone is trans then they can tick that, if they are intersex they can tick that if they so happen to be Samoan and identify as fa'afafine they can tick that.
