Some are suggesting it may be permanently. The silencing of women continues.

Nosetothesun

in the spirit of fair play... this is parallel discussion online currently going on. Its a little different and some posters here may find themselves misrepresented....

Every time mumsnet gets highlighted on Twitter, more women come and see what the fuss is about.

It happens time, after time.

Twelve million women, all talking, without censorship.

It's brilliant PR.

PositivelyPERF · 24/03/2018 16:19

Isn’t it great, Datun. Just imagine how many women see those posts on Twitter, but know if they ask a question they will be hounded, so they follow the highlight to Mumsnet. Thank you for mentioning us again. 🍖 🥦🥕

SunsetBeetch · 24/03/2018 16:23

Eh welcome to the lioness's den, I suppose @RealCursedE

RealCursedE · 24/03/2018 16:34

Thanks! Look forward to seeing you around.

Trueheart1 · 24/03/2018 17:08

Donkey skin is correct and RealcursedE is a provocative troll on twitter who loves to gaslight women. Better not to engage with him.

OP posts:
DrRadFem · 24/03/2018 17:08

Can you block people on Mumsnet?

TERFragetteCity · 24/03/2018 17:14

Can you block people on Mumsnet?

No - but you can name change.

Lampage · 24/03/2018 17:30

*Thanks! Look forward to seeing you around.

Not likely, it appears MN has banned this person. They just Tweeted about it.

HomeTerf · 24/03/2018 18:03

Just when you think you couldn't love MNHQ more...

TERFragetteCity · 24/03/2018 18:05

Good call MNHQ.

TheOnlyAletheia · 24/03/2018 18:38

Has anyone linked to the petition that asks for women to be consulted on self I’d proposals recently?

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

Fancy signing itCursedE? Wink

Terfragette69 · 24/03/2018 18:58

This is getting bloody ridiculous. I'm quite new to twitter but following many gender critical people, who are having lots of debates about gender critical feminism and trans ideology. We also have a lot of friends on there, but we need to be more proactive in fighting this.

Trueheart1 · 24/03/2018 19:03

CursedE is a PBP

OP posts:
Terfragette69 · 24/03/2018 19:47

Been looking at their twitter feed, seriously delusional!

RedToothBrush · 24/03/2018 19:51

Its a subject best dropped. Its about getting a rise. Don't.

Nightshiftmad · 24/03/2018 20:18

DrRadFem you're very welcome here, you'll find much more support. Very sad they are silencing female voice on Twitter.

thebewilderness · 24/03/2018 20:20

I suspected as much from the few posts he wrote.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 24/03/2018 20:23

Cursed is TRA poison 101. Well done @MNHQ for banning him

He'll be back shortly under another guise to troll, no doubt. These fuckers always are

Datun · 24/03/2018 20:40

Ah a PBP. That explains the ban.

Personally I don't mind transactivists coming on here. They're a bit of a gift in terms of lurkers and fence sitters.

Whereas Twitter is an echo chamber, Mumsnet isn't.

Sophia2222 · 24/03/2018 21:32

So am I. Do we follow each other or what?

Sophia2222 · 24/03/2018 21:37

I think Venice might just be as bad as I am in knowing how to navigate mumsnet :)

Sophia2222 · 24/03/2018 21:42

Hi, I was told about Mumsnet at a Womens Place meeting and how I should get myself on here, it's a bit bewildering if I'm honest. If it hadn't been for a link on twitter I would never have got this far..

Idontdowindows · 24/03/2018 21:51

/me waves @drradfem

Lovely to see you here. Maria is around as well I've seen and a few other people we know ;)

DarthArts · 24/03/2018 21:52

@Sophia2222

Ok a crash course in MN Smile

They "mainstay" of MN are threads rather than individuals.

Threads are grouped by topics.

You can interact with a thread by starting one, posting on it or alternatively "watching" it (think of that like bookmarking). You can also hide a thread if you wish (a bit like blocking - but on a thread rather than individual basis).

You can also save your favourite topics ie areas where threads you are likely to be interested can been seen.

On any topic the threads are "ranked" by the most recent contribution, not by the volume of posts.

You can also look at active threads to see which threads are garnering the most attention at any point in time.

You can't "follow" individuals but you can PM them (personal message - like a DM on twitter).

If you object to a post on a thread because it breeches talk guidelines you can report it to MNHQ.

You can argue the pros and cons of the threads vs follow(ers) principle but imho it makes MN more democratic.

You connect to a thread that's of interest and you get to hear everyone's view - not just those you agree with.

You'll see quite a few acronyms and there's a section on the website that explains those most frequently used. You'll also find new sweary terms you've never heard of before (cockwomble being a favourite of mine Wink)

Hope that helps and welcome 🙏

DarthArts · 24/03/2018 21:59

Oh and once you've posted you can't edit or delete a post.

You have to report it yourself to MNHQ to explain why you want it removed (usually for reasons of privacy if you've accidentally outed yourself).

What else?

Ok if you want something in bold put an asterisk either side of the text (no spaces).

You can refer to another user by typing in @ and then you'll get a list of users on the same thread.

Not everyone likes this though as it sends an email notification that you've been mentioned in a post (though you can turn this off in your account preferences).

Typically if you want to refer to another user you just head your post with their name (or part of their name that makes it obvious who you are talking to eg Darth) in bold.
