Ok a crash course in MN
They "mainstay" of MN are threads rather than individuals.
Threads are grouped by topics.
You can interact with a thread by starting one, posting on it or alternatively "watching" it (think of that like bookmarking). You can also hide a thread if you wish (a bit like blocking - but on a thread rather than individual basis).
You can also save your favourite topics ie areas where threads you are likely to be interested can been seen.
On any topic the threads are "ranked" by the most recent contribution, not by the volume of posts.
You can also look at active threads to see which threads are garnering the most attention at any point in time.
You can't "follow" individuals but you can PM them (personal message - like a DM on twitter).
If you object to a post on a thread because it breeches talk guidelines you can report it to MNHQ.
You can argue the pros and cons of the threads vs follow(ers) principle but imho it makes MN more democratic.
You connect to a thread that's of interest and you get to hear everyone's view - not just those you agree with.
You'll see quite a few acronyms and there's a section on the website that explains those most frequently used. You'll also find new sweary terms you've never heard of before (cockwomble being a favourite of mine
)
Hope that helps and welcome 🙏
