I've just put the manfriday hashtag into Facebook and there is some very angry responses to this on there (some good too). One that I don't know whether to laugh or cry at has wrote.
Of COURSE it's Mumsnet behind the appalling #manfriday campaign where cis women turn up in male spaces for larks saying "I SELF ID AS A MAN HAHAHAHAA SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT", pretending trans men don't exist, pretending trans women are a threat. There's something about motherhood that potentially pushes cis women into TERF territory; all that rhetoric around being a goddess, a queen, the mother earth thing. Reading their tweets etc made me feel physically sick today, laughing about breast binders, laughing about living as a transgender woman and therefore pretending that transgender men aren't even real. This is mainstream, this is happening. We should boycott Mumsnet for so many reasons, but this is one too. Fuck you, Mumsnet .
