Men have tried for years to erase Black women and other WOC, as well as poor women from the Feminist movement, to pretend it was all white upper class women dissatisfied with their privileged existence. MRAs make the same argument to this day. Zombie lies never die because men never stop telling them.

thebewilderness · 28/02/2018 01:07

Yes I am, BlindYeo. I misunderstood what you wrote..

Esker · 28/02/2018 01:07

What really pissed me off about TRAs claiming that certain language , symbols etc (like the pussy hat) are 'exclusionary' is that its an intellectually flawed statement. It is not an 'exclusionary' act to mention or discuss something in the presence of a person who does not possess that thing. If a group of women have a conversation about breastfeeding, that does not by definition 'exclude' a transman who may prefer to say that he is 'chestfeeding'. It's just using accurate language to describe what is happening.

This applies to all sorts of situations in which human experiences are inevitably different. If able bodied people discuss going for a walk in the presence of a wheelchair user, it is not 'exclusionary'. If wealthy people discuss a recent holiday in the presence of a less well off friend, that is not 'exclusionary'. On occasion, individuals may feel left out, annoyed or whatever, but that is part of the broad spectrum of human experience, and that does not mean that others are trying to diminish or deny you.

thebewilderness · 28/02/2018 01:12

My favorite part was the claim that not all vaginas are pink, as though the hats were vagina symbols instead of women's solidarity symbols.

FYI vaginas are indeed pinkish, as are most organs in our body, what with the blood circulating and all.

expatmatt78 · 28/02/2018 01:16

Its ridiculous but also scary - MB seems to have a strong platform where she spots any shit and the replies are "wow I never knew thanks for educating me" - for example that Suffragettes were not to be celebrated as they were "in fact" "White Supremacists" who deliberately denied black women the vote. This is becoming actual re writing of history, villainizing (actual) women who did and sacrificed so much.
Then at the same time as Grazia mag did this, a journo from Elle Magazine tweets to LM asking for an interview. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!
Then Corbyn recruits MB as well as LM. He is apparently going to be an advisor about women...
And I hadnt even SEEN the Jan issue of British Vogue with the cover "The New Suffragettes" which included Paris Lees!!
I am BEYOND Peaking right now. And I dont understand how more women are not aware what is going on.
I only started seeing it talked about on here, which lead me to Twitter (and starting my own account) and the recent article in the Independent about LM is so skewed that I suppose the MSM isnt even picking up on the fury that I see on Twitter.
I dont talk about this in RL but i sure wish I could start bringing other women I know to Peak.

expatmatt78 · 28/02/2018 01:22

Sorry correction to "she spots" should have been "he spouts" (dont rant and type)

Mouthandtrousersall · 28/02/2018 01:48

Still a bloke.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/02/2018 01:51

This unpleasant, shallow narcissist is getting being a decent human being wrong, so...

Meghan taking the piss.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/02/2018 03:39

That piece is the dictionary definition of mansplaining. Grazia’s dwindling readership numbers will dwindle further. Glamour magazine didn’t survive putting Juno Dawson in as a columnist, not even after removing him from the main magazine and only putting him online. Grazia won’t do well for putting this goady fucker in their magazine.

expatmatt78 · 28/02/2018 03:48

I mean I only read (past tense) for fun and fluff but this giving a platform to the dangerous I'll informed MB who appears to have a "fan base" is scary and dangerous

expatmatt78 · 28/02/2018 05:39

Well it's finally happened

expatmatt78 · 28/02/2018 05:40

Sorry tried to show photo/ been blocked by LM I feel kind of proud that I came across his radar it took me a week of peaking

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 28/02/2018 06:02

Welcome to the Blocked By LM Club, Expatmatt! Grin

merrymouse · 28/02/2018 07:28

The thing that really frustrates me is ‘woke’ media supporting the idea that being female has anything to do with identity. For Bergdorf (and I assume anybody else who thinks you can be a ‘real’ woman or ‘just as good as any other woman’), to be female is to be accepted as a member of a club.

It’s as though we have regressed 100 years and you can either be a respectable lady defined by your virtue (‘proper’) or non existent.

RedToothBrush · 28/02/2018 07:36

Its not the ability to bear children. Its the social expectation to bear children.

CapnHaddock · 28/02/2018 08:15

I see Jack Monroe (waves) has been spouting nonsense on twitter about 'vagina feminism'. You can identify as what you like love - you're a woman.

RedToothBrush · 28/02/2018 08:17

Are men looked on with confusion for not having children? Are men looked on with pity for not being able to have children? Are they expected to have children?

Triliteration · 28/02/2018 08:23

I am BEYOND Peaking right now. And I dont understand how more women are not aware what is going on.

Speaking from personal experience, I’d say many women are probably peripherally aware, but haven’t realised the end game. I know when I saw Jenner and all the fuss, I thought wtf?? but then pushed it aside as it seemed just a sign of modern stupidity that would just pass. It annoyed me more when she got some woman of the year award, but again, it was only a vague blir on the radar.

It was only when I came here, then started to read more, that I discovered the GRA / self-ID dangers and all the nonsense that is being propagated that I realised it was a big deal.

So the more this information is out there, the more people will stop sleepwalking into it. I massively applaud WPUK and all the women who are putting their heads over the parapet. I find it odd that it’s still so niche, as it seems so massive to me.

CapnHaddock · 28/02/2018 08:24

Ironically, I was passed over for promotion in favour of a man because he may have children and so might I. The company saw that as me becoming a drain on resources while he would have a family to support.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/02/2018 08:26

Does Jack think that if she shouts about "vagina feminism" enough the TRAs will forget that she has one and treat her as an equal? Because they won't. And it's depressing to watch her trying to persuade them to.

IcedPurple · 28/02/2018 08:31

Men!

Is there anything they can't do better than women?

Including - it would seem - being a woman?

Apparently not.

Speedy85 · 28/02/2018 09:32

That article is infuriating.

Also, to clarify, whilst L’Oreal don’t animal test their complete products in the EU, they do:

  • buy ingredients which have been recently animal tested (more ethical companies won’t use products which have been tested after a fixed cut off date); and
  • test their products in China so that they can sell them there.

So I don’t buy them, no matter how much this person pisses me off.

IcedPurple · 28/02/2018 09:36

Also, let's not forget that L'Oréal sacked Bergdorf because of his racism towards white people, not because of his misogyny. Which is ironic, given that the vast majority of people who purchase their products are women and girls.

MadamMinacious · 28/02/2018 10:13

At 14 or so I became a feminist, at around 17 I realised that women's magazines were just vehicles of the patriarchy (I was slow to learn). I can't even stop buying them in protest, I stopped buying or reading them over 20 years ago (apart from when I had to write about them). They do little more than feed into insecurities and prescribe behaviour to women oh, and house a LOT of adverts. This shouldn't make me so angry as I KNOW what women's magazines are all about but it does and I think my anger would please Bergdorf no end but there you go, I still feel angry.

I'm just going to retire from the internet for a bit until I calm the fuck down or I will verbally maim someone who doesn't deserve it.
