"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

I'm a mum but I've not been brain washed by mumsnet!
My mind is perfectly filthy, if you must know. Wink

HairyBallTheorem · 25/02/2018 15:02

Datun: Or shall we spot the flaw in that argument by realising the common denominator is the word mum.

This! And add to that the fact that giving birth to a child is one irreducibly female activity (regardless of how you then go on to raise that child, depending on your own personality and financial needs, whether by going out to work to add to the family's income or whether by staying at home with the child) - so of course a TRA would want to diminish that.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/02/2018 15:02

Sahm - no, i work a whole 6 hours ...so boo yah sucks
Bored - only boring people get bored (channels mother)
Middle class - i dont know...probably. I dont know how to tell
University educated - no (does that make me not one of the elite, i dont think i want to be one of the elite ...people dont seem to like them much
Woman - Yep

Waddlelikeapenguin · 25/02/2018 15:03

UpstartCrow

Haave I been brainwashed?
I suppose if one of you did accidentally on purpose brainwash me I wouldn't remember you doing it, would I.
Grin

I am - SAHM, uni educated, white, middle class (i've come down in the world Wink) never bored. Far too busy home educating my children - lots of biology & critical thinking Grin
My youngest has declared themselves a big dog for the last three days... iwont be signing them up for drugs or surgery Hmm

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/02/2018 15:05

Now childish

She'd probably have me on childish

Howyoualldoworkme · 25/02/2018 15:08

Retired, happily married woman, not brainwashed or bored.
Middle class, well off because I worked bloody hard for it.
University educated? No and after over 30 years working in one I'm quite glad I'm not.
Also managed not to fuck up my three adult sons lives by cutting their bits off.
Think I'm the winner here Helen!

Fekko · 25/02/2018 15:12

My sister really wanted to be a dog when she was about 3. Or drove mum crazy. She’s not a dog now thank goodness.

lovetheway · 25/02/2018 15:16

I am menopausal and have no problem identifying as such because I'm WOMAN with WOmb and Vagina and Ovaries - and lots and lots of blood.

And I don't care about being old. As Granny Weather wax said - what doesn't grow old, doesn't change. And what doesn't change, is already dead.

Elendon · 25/02/2018 15:17

Call the police! Women are a diverse group of human individuals who have one thing in common: they are biologically adult human females.

Flomper · 25/02/2018 15:17

Still laughing that Helen thinks the predominant demographic on here is women that dont work. Clearly never cam across Xenia back in the day! Or the 1000s of lawyer threads, the women talking about their zero hour contract jobs and all the teachers/doctors/IT people etc etc

Fekko · 25/02/2018 15:18

Why’s wrong with not working anway? Is there something wrong with staying at home to being up the kids? Or do you need to stay in isolation and read the daily mail of your do?

Elendon · 25/02/2018 15:19

And what HermoineWeasley said.

AlabamaShakes · 25/02/2018 15:28

I'm not university educated, SAHM or middle class.

The MN feminism boards are brilliant and I catch up with the discussion when I'm not in my minimum wage, full time job or being a taxi service to my teenage DD.

However, I'm on MN today because I'm confined to my house with the shits Sad

Desperatelyseekingsun · 25/02/2018 15:29

So SAHP don't have valid views
Degree educated women don't have valid views
Women who are on social media when they should be spending time with DC and husbands don't have valid views
Mermaids is creating an awfully small box of acceptable womenhood for their DC to live in. I spend most of my time telling both my dd and ds not to be limited by gender expectations and to make the most of their lives.
For me this means sometimes I work, sometimes I am a SAHP, sometimes I study and sometimes I do a mixture of all three. I also travel, volunteer and use social media sometimes.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 15:30

Is that the reason for your user name Alabama? Grin

May your bum dry up soon

AlabamaShakes · 25/02/2018 15:32

Yep, shaking like a shitting dog Sad

sportinguista · 25/02/2018 15:33

And we are supposed to take the views of someone who calls herself mimmymum seriously? I just get an image in my head of someone wearing a red polka dot pinny and very 1950's clothes...

So I'm not middle class, am uni educted, am middle aged but don't look it, loads of piercings etc, I run a business and this weekend much as many I am working, hence why I'm in front of a computer, but I am going to cook chilli now, I may even talk to my husband at some point.

KochabRising · 25/02/2018 15:34

Some of us work, some don’t. Some are MC, WC and everything in between. Some of us are loaded and some of us are skint.

And yet, remarkably, all of us are having a debate about this whole issue and coming to the conclusion that TRAs are engaging in a dangerous cult that threatens to harm countless children and remove women’s rights.

So away with your divide and conquer. We can debate and make our own minds up, thanks.,

LangCleg · 25/02/2018 15:34

I am working class. I am university educated (first generation of family and all that jazz). My kids are grown up. I run my own business.

All you posh, lazy, bored grifters on Mumsnet FWR did not lead me to conclude that Gender Identity Theory is sexist, homophobic, regressive bunkum.

That would be my common sense. And quite a few of Helen's tweets.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 25/02/2018 15:39

Mermaids is creating an awfully small box of acceptable womenhood for their DC to live in

I think you need a dick not a box Shock

Fekko · 25/02/2018 15:42

Isn’t a box where you keep your, errr, ‘man junk’?

PencilsInSpace · 25/02/2018 15:43

I'm not bored, I have netflix and cheesy wotsits.

Mermaids needs investigating.

AlabamaShakes · 25/02/2018 15:43

Helen has posted on threads in the past. She gets trounced every time because she can't back up the shit she spouts.

It always amusing me too when I see TRA's and their handmaidens boasting about the amount of retweets they get.

It's amusing because so many of the retweets I see are people taking the piss or refuting what they are writing.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 25/02/2018 15:48
Shock

I have got NO 'man junk' in my box Fekko.

It's pristine. Biscuit

UpstartCrow · 25/02/2018 15:50

CertainHalfDesertedStreets My sincere condolences. Dont worry, we all have a dry spell.
