Disgusted by all the transphobia here

MikePeterson · 04/02/2018 16:12

A very good friend of mine and a long time poster here has spent most of her day crying because this fresh wave of transphobia in a community she thought she was welcome in has finally broken her spirits. After obtaining her permission, I am posting this because it needs to be said.

She is a woman with a penis and has identified as such since she was old enough to understand the concept of gender. Being female is part of her identity but so is her body, such as it is and untouched by surgery and artificial hormones. She is a beautiful individual and, to my eye, presents a much more feminine image than, ironically, Linda Bellos and several of her fellow bigots.

Arguing that, because of potential past trauma involving males, causing seeing a penis or even an individual likely to be in possession of a penis to be triggering is justification for segregation is as absurd as it is offensive. Would it be acceptable for a woman who was the victim of a violent crime commuted by a particular ethnic minority to demand that all members of that race be segregated in changing rooms and domestic violence shelters? Of course not.

Equally ludicrous is the claim that transgender women somehow had the privilege of living as a man. Cisgendered women are light years ahead of transgender women in terms of privilege and if you wish to continue denying this, you are no better than the most vile male misogynists.

Finally, think about how disrespectful you are being to all women, you are reducing all the wonderful differences between the genders to what someone has between their legs. The same feminist ancestors who fought for your right to vote, to be regarded as more than domestic servants and baby machines would spit on you for your intolerance.

The transactivist who did the interview with Dier is similarly whiney, entitled and dismissive of women in general. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Ereshkigal · 05/02/2018 18:12

I know Lana I feel exactly the same Thanks

Fekko · 05/02/2018 18:12

Some parts of the world females don’t even get the change of life. Selected for termination because they are female (not because they feel female).

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 05/02/2018 18:21

Beatrice

Yep, ragey ragey a lot over this. And Datun is right, Wine consumption increases post peaktrans

You need some good offtime too, or it all becomes too much.

Lana Flowers It is absolutely fucking mentalist batshit bullshit.

AnotherQuoll · 05/02/2018 18:24

Thank you LanaKane'sTerfyVag! Your Last replied have perfectly reflected my thoughts and feelings on this also.

Oh, and.for the prostate people with teh womansy feelz, wing a woman is also not about putting on a stupid voice. My ovaries do not compel me to do my best to vocally mimic Kermit The Frog. Stop it. It's fucking insulting.

FloraFox · 05/02/2018 18:29

Do people go the other way? Do they start by thinking 'no man is a woman!' and gradually come to realise that some men, despite their bodies and history and chromosomes, are in fact women? If so, what's the thought process? Because I literally cannot understand it, cannot make any sense of it, and god knows I've tried, in the spirit of tolerance and diversity

I don’t think they truly believe it. I think they think there are a very small number of people who are deeply unhappy and it is better to express sympathy and solidarity with them than to say they are not women. I think some people think the numbers are so small that there won’t me any impact on women except in a small number of cases. You can see this when Jeremy Corbyn was questioned by Marr. He is generally truthful in interviews and was squirming about “the Party’s position...”, trauma and dealing with the individual in front of you. He doesn’t believe transwomen are women.

MrGHardy · 05/02/2018 18:29

Disrespectful we are being? Feminists would spit on women stopping men to pretend to be women? The irony is hugely lost on you, isn't it? In fact, you are either a troll or the perfect example of why so many SJW type leftie goodie-two-shoe men support the trans agenda.

Terftastic · 05/02/2018 18:29

Yup, the fragrant Andi Dier, or Lily Madigan, would have been safe from that - despite their feelz.

I read an article on the astronomical number of missing women in India just yesterday.

And one on the Rotherham sex abuse case - girls were targeted because of their biology, not boys who feel like girls. Considering Dier has clearly been accused of being a perpetrator, than a victim - he can shut the fuck up.

lizzieoak · 05/02/2018 18:31

I’ve read about half the thread and a lot of women have made a lot of great points.

Can I just say how agog I am at the thought of Edwardian and post-Edwardian women being appalled at our “intolerance” re trans? What kind of mad understanding of historical viewpoints does Mike have that he believes Christobel Pankhurst, Annie Kennedy, Marie Stopes etc were all about the trans?!! Confused If that does not tip us off to the lack of common sense in Mike’s thinking, nothing will.

lizzieoak · 05/02/2018 18:32

Sorry, Annie Kenney - stupid autocorrect.

Hygge · 05/02/2018 18:34

That quote from Dier is basically "her rape wasn't as bad as the time someone shouted at me in the street" Shock

Women are killed all the time by men.

Disgusted by all the transphobia here
nocoolnamesleft · 05/02/2018 18:35

Hang on a sec, I'm confused. The OP seems to be criticising an actual woman for not being feminine. But, by their logic, would that not mean that they were presenting as a man. I mean being a transman. Sorry, actually really being a man. And thus by criticising them, the OP was being transphobic.

My brain hurts.

SomeDyke · 05/02/2018 18:36

I think Dawkins said something fairly innocently correct as regards biology:
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/10/27/richard-dawkins-taught-a-lesson-by-trans-women-_n_8397344.html

and then got a whole bunch of guff from people trying to explain biology and intersex to him..................

See also:
twitter.com/richarddawkins/status/658622852405534721?lang=en

His 'she out of courtesy' got peoples backs up, but the number trying to use their faint understanding of biology and genetics to try and prove him wrong was quite funny. None of them could even spell 'extended phenotype' I'm sure (although not sure I can myself, too late in the day!)................

I have to say much on the Richard Dawkins Foundation pages re the US and 'bathroom bills' seems to fall on the nasty right-wing religious bigots therefore BAD side, rather than anything else................

Fekko · 05/02/2018 18:37

But little girls being raped is nowhere as traumatic as a grown man in a skirt being told he isn’t really a woman, or, heaven forbid. being addressed as Mr Bloggs. For goodness sake, poor me Fiffi me Femme me will me be me in me therapy me for me literally me hundreds me of me years me me me.

At least those missing girl babies in India were lucky to be given the right gener classification and not abused and assaulted by being assigned the wrong gender!!! me me me me me me me.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/02/2018 18:43

This is me right now...

Terftastic · 05/02/2018 18:44

I'm right there with you Lana

I'll pour you a Wine or a Brew

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/02/2018 18:49

And thanks guys.

MN peaked transed me ages ago.

I peaked DP recently as well.

If anything remotely good comes out of this....it's me (and hopefully others) realising just how much of an angry feminist I actually am.

I've realised just how fucking far we still have to go.

I am woman......hear me fucking roar.

birdbandit · 05/02/2018 18:52

Some more true stories:

I spent my afternoon crying because it's not fair that I haven't won the lottery yet, despite my really wanting it to be true.

My daughter cried because she wants a pet Tiger.

And now I'm crying because I haven't got a male friend to come on here and tell off all the mean women who haven't made my wishes come true, or at least pretended with me that what I want, I can have.

Eye rolling.

crunchymint · 05/02/2018 18:54

Seems Mike's friend still has to learn the lesson that most kids learn i..e. you can not make people see you in the way you want them to see you. They will have their own opinions.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 05/02/2018 18:54

Oh and wine please Terf if you're pouring. Grin

Fekko · 05/02/2018 18:55

I’m crying because it didn’t snow.

If I cry really really hard, and believe with all my heart that it will snow... maybe it will... it will won’t it?

crunchymint · 05/02/2018 18:56

I am crying because I want wine and none of you bastards have delivered it to my doorstep.

birdbandit · 05/02/2018 18:56

Also, this is perfect:

I suspect the 'M' and 'E' keys are worn down from overuse into translucent plastic slivers, set atop tiny white key pegs like contact lenses perched on baby teeth, like a monument to a toddler's precocious vanity".

StarsAndWater · 05/02/2018 18:56

I have to say I've reached peak trans over this.
I fully support the idea that gender has a wider spectrum than we traditionally allowed, and I think exploring that is a good thing.
But the Rose McGowan thing has made me realise how many transwomen hate women and are trying to intimidate biological women.
Only someone with deep seated misogynist issues would deliberately shout down a rape survivor trying tell their story.

It's so ironic that they call feminists terfs when they're the ones trying to exclude biological female experience from womanhood.

crunchymint · 05/02/2018 18:58

And anyone who thinks most suffragists would have supported the Trans movement has not read any/much of their actual words. I have and those women were fierce.
